Adding OEM hitch 2016 Ford Edge Sport
mr_jason posted a topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Over the weekend I decided to take a chance and add the oem ford hitch to my 2016 Edge sport. This meant cutting a hole in the bumper, swapping the foot sensors with the split sensors and adding the 4 pin trailer lighting. I had the draw Tite hitch and decided I didnt want to remove the heat shield bumper support or have it hang down. The only down side was fabricating the lower foot sensor mount, it wasnt a direct replacement. If you decide to do this Im not responsible for anything you do to your car. -
OEM Hitch Installation w/ photos & foot activated lift gate works.
marksandbothe posted a topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I've looked at a lot of photos in this forum in trying to decide which hitch to install. I ended paying a little more (a lot more!) and getting the factory hitch installed. I'm 100% happy that I did. They really did a fantastic job. They had to cut the rear bumper cover and it while it could be straighter, I'm sure it's something I'll never notice. Plus, If I decide to get the wiring harness there's a place to mount that. I purchased this used so I had a hard time finding one with a trailer hitch. Plus, I didn't the whole towing package. This is mainly for bikes/cargo carrier/jet ski occasionally. I can also report that the foot activated lift gate works if you kick to the right of the hitch. Super happy. Thanks for everyone that posted photos. -

Installing Backup Camera in 2013 Edge SEL?
sagedrummer posted a topic in Accessories & Modifications
Hi I am looking at purchasing a 2013 Ford Edge Sel which has all the trim options I want besides the backup camera. It has the myford touch screen and sync and I am surprised it didn't have a backup camera. I want to find out if its even possible to buyOEM backup camera and have it work in the car? How will the car know to switch to the screen when in reverse, how to get thebackup distance lines? Is it just a software update that will need to be installed by the dealer after I install the camera? How much does the software update cost? The vehicle is at a good price and would be worth me spending up to $300 to get a backup camera installed but if it is going to be problematic I will just hold out for another Edge that has everything I need. I am tring to decide between an after market hitch and the OEM bumper replacement one from Ford. The after market ones are about 13" to the top of the reciever. Can someone tell me the height of the OEM hitch?

Bump!!! This controller works great on the Edge after the Sony amp. It can accept a bunch of the channels that come thru your Sony and thus allowing you to hook up aftermarket speakers for the front and rear doors. There is also a channel for two subwoofers. This is exactly what you need if you want to upgrade your sound without breaking the bank on $700 and $800 controllers. This particular model was installed in the rear right fender near the Sony amp in my Edge for about three months. It worked out famously. I had no problem with the unit and rather liked it. However, I have some kind of "itis" that makes me feel as though I should always be upgrading. It's a dangerous and expensive illness. Anyhow, they list for $149 and is on Amazon for around $119. I'll practically give this puppy away for the first $85 that heads my way. It's in prefect condition. PM me if you want it. I'll go with the first message. I added some info on the unit below for your reading pleasure. by Zak Billmeier Build a system around your factory radio AudioControl's LC6i processor allows you to add aftermarket amps, speakers, and subs to your factory radio, so you can enjoy better sound without losing factory features. It accepts speaker-level signals from your factory radio or amplifier, so you can use it with any system. Inputs and outputs The LC6i features six speaker-level inputs that let you connect amplified signals, including multi-wire cables from BoseĀ® and other premium factory systems up to 400 watts. The LC6i sums all the signals you send it, even if they're actively crossed over by your factory system, so you get a strong, full-range signal for your processors and amps. The LC6i features six RCA preamp outputs that'll handle the traditional front/rear/sub setup. Level matching is a breeze AudioControl couldn't make it much easier to set up your system. Just set your factory stereo to about 3/4 of its maximum volume, and turn the output level control of the LC6i until the "Maximized" light begins to flicker. Adjust the gain controls on your amps and you're done. You've just matched your levels, so you can count on getting maximum performance and minimum noise from your amp setup. Convenience The optional dash-mount subwoofer controller allows you to adjust the level of your sub channel on the go. The speaker-level inputs sense incoming signals and turn on the LC6i, while a built-in 12-volt trigger tells your amps or other gear to turn on.

Remote Start for 2010 Edge (Aftermarket)
sterlinggrayxlt posted a topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I have the info on OEM and Dealer installed options, but I was curious what the forum's input was on after market installations.... Basically, does anyone know if the aftermarket options will turn your heat/air on automatically and/or heated seats. What I've heard from installers is rather vague and is a "probably" answer but not for certain. Anyone have any examples of their luck? Our local aftermarket place quoted me $299 for the two fobs installed, but I wanted to make sure it'll include the climate control. What's the point of just the engine being turned on. We have a 2010 Limited Edge (no power lifegate)- 1 reply
