2010 Ford Edge SEL still stinks under the hood?
Kaitro13 posted a topic in Ford Edge & MKX Member Builds
I had 2 cylinders misfiring, 2 and 3. Replaced all the spark plugs, and took to a shop to diagnose why it was still misfiring. They replaced 2nd and 3rd ignition coils. Previous shop replaced 2nd fuel injector, swearing that was the problem (didnt help misfire, but have 1 new fuel injector). Drove good for about 100 miles, then Check Engine lights came on with a P2197 code diagnostic. Replaced MAF because shop said that's most common issue with that code. I cleared the code, haven't had a problem since, but it still smells like something's burning under the hood. I'm not too mechanically inclined so I dont have a lot of tools or equipment but I'm trying to save money instead of throwing it into shops all the time. I was going to buy fuel injector cleaner and hope that eliminates the smell, buy does anyone know why it would still smell like burning? Is something still wrong? Edit: Its a sick sweet smell, only noticable in idle. -
Changing Spark Plugs, found extra hose in back of engine cover..
mrtm2016 posted a topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
I watched this video to guide me along the process of DIY spark plugs changes... I get all the way to removing the cover off the engine itself and it seems that he assumed maybe somewhere along the way I would figure out something on my own. At the back of the cover itself is a 90 degree bent house with what appears to be a metal casing around it. The top of the house is clamped to the the back of the cover unit and the bottom presumably goes into the engine. He didn't seem to detail it in the video (maybe I had a few too many beers and missed it?) or my Edge is just special. I doubt my car is special, other than the fact it seems to just be a piece of work. Attached is a series of pictures starting from the top, moving to the left side of the cover, and a closeup of the hose at the back, hopefully to show y'all the exact position of the hose. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. Can anyone guide me with how to properly detach this house to get the top casing off so I can change the back three spark plugs? Much appreciated, thanks so much. -
Just wondering, I was watching Mac T's transmission flush video and thinking, "Where's his sexy foam blocks that Ford has placed on top of the valve covers and intake manifold?" Had the 2008 Edge even shipped with them? I recall reading more than a few threads ranging from valve noise to dying out and failing coil packs etc. Obviously this V6 engine has what may be classified as a noisy valve train. Ford felt it necessary to try and quiet things down, and shield the uninitiated from matters going on "down below" such as the VCT, aluminum valve covers, coil packs, etc. My question to others is this: I've thought about removing these insulating foam blocks from my 2013 to assist with heat dissipation from the top end and open up the air space in the engine compartment. In turn possibly, spare the coil packs from excess heat. In the colder winter months, put the foam blocks back in to help the motor heat up quicker and also protect the aluminum and other top end components like the fuel rail, coils etc from brine spray and moisture. I think who really cares if the noise of the valves are heard a little more? Just my thoughts. Any others out there like me?

DRL plugs and wiring
Christopher Morgan posted a topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Ok let me start with I'm brand new here so please forgive me if this is already answered somewhere, I did a basic search but didnt see the answer that I was looking for. I have a 2014 Ford Edge that I've had for a month and I got a really good deal on due to some light hail damage, and I've been doing some things to customize it, well I had mentioned to me mother that I would like to remove the cheap black plastic inserts where the DRL's go and get some lights for there. So she surprised me with some that she purchased for me (not certain where but I'd guess E-bay). Well when I went to install them yesterday I discovered that there were no factory plugs for the DRL's to plug into. So my question is does anyone know where I can get the plugs? Is there a factory style wiring harness that I can purchase? I made the turn signals flash just by throwing a cheap jumper wire on there but I thought I'd check here before trying to make my own plugs.
