  1. I bought an upgrade kit to upgrade from the Sync 2 to Sync 3. Overall the upgrade was pretty easy and straightforward. I did however disconnect the cd player/brain of the radio system which I didn't need to do to begin with. In doing so I broke the plastic connector and trying to fix it I completely tore up the tip of the cable. I'm going to have to cut off the end of the cable and replace it but I don't know what it is called, what to search for or where to search. Please help.
  2. I discovered over the last couple of days that my navigation system says I have no GPS, I can not call out or answer calls verbally on my phone. Also the "Audio button" on bottom left of screen does not respond. There may be other symptoms I have yet to discover but that is enough for the moment. I checked/tested fuse # 32 (10 amp) in the passenger compartment fuse panel under the dash and that appears to be okay. I have done a master reset to no avail. This all started when last week the electric cooler fan would not shut off when I shut the car off. I got caught downtown with a dead battery and a good Samaritan gave me jump start with one of those new little jump start batteries.. Since it was late at night when I got home and the fan wanted to keep running I disconnected the battery over night and charged it up. I swapped out Relay #39 in the engine compartment fuse box and that solved that problem. NOW I have the problem described in the first paragraph. Can one or more folks give me some ideas as what to check next? I was sure it was the fuse # 32 (10 amp) but it looked both good and tested good. Any help will be much appreciated.
  3. Been a while since I've been on this forum, but I wanted to share my latest project I've been working on for a while. Factory system was OK when I bought the car but always knew I wanted to upgrade at some point. Sounds great! My wife, which could care less, even commented on the sound! Infinity Reference 6832cf in all four doors (tweeter swivels upward) Audiocontrol LC7i processor (Acubass is incredible) Blaupunkt AMP1504 4-channel amp (150W x 4 RMS) and Kicker Hideaway subwoofer under the "40" seat (not looking for a window rattler, but surprisingly puts out a lot of bass) The LC7i makes the sub perform so much better and the sound is so much more full. Collected components over the years and bought when I could get a really good deal so only have about $500 in the entire system, including cables and wiring. It was important to me that the car looked stock so I wanted everything to be hidden with minimal modifications. I am even surprised at the improved sound. Well worth your time if you care about the music in your car.
  4. Its been 3 days since my sync3 has been completely blacked out. Initially there were issues with connecting phone via bluetooth. After rebooting my phone, it got reconnected to SYNC however SYNC blanked out in few minutes and then never turned on. Currently my radio, navigation, bluetooth everything is not working. I tried pressing the power and tune+ buttons at the same time for few minutes, but nothing happened. I also tried removing the fuse, turned the car on for few minutes, then turned it back off, put the fuse back in. However no help. Please suggest any alternative method to resolve this issue, or is my module dead? I am thinking of showing it to a dealer, however my car is past the warranty. Any idea how much would the dealer charge for consultation and repair work? I am currently driving a 2012 Ford Focus SEL.
  5. I recently just ran into this; https://phoenixandroidradios.com/collections/ford/products/12-1-tesla-style-android-navigation-radio-for-ford-edge-2011-2014 I was just curious if anyone had seen these are used them. I think it would give a super clean look to my 2014 Limited. I am really sick of the Sync 2 System and was thinking about doing a Sync 3 retrofit, but this is actually a lot cheaper and seems to have pretty good reviews... Any thoughts?
  6. Hi All, We purchased a 2009 Ford Edge almost three years ago which had an aftermarket touch screen system installed (see image attache). This offered AM/FM radio, CD, iPod capability, bluetooth, and DVD amongst other features. Just recently, the touch screen stop responding and the different options are only able to be changed via the steering wheel media button. But we cannot change radio stations, set favorites, change the time, etc. Does anyone know if there is a way to troubleshoot a touch screen responding issue or is there a fix to this?? Thanks in advance!
  7. Hi! I'm looking for new android car stereo and want to install <spam link deleted> in my 2009 edge. How to install it? Is it difficult to install this by myself or to ask the professional to help?
  8. Hello all! My prior issue was that the speakers had no audio when the car was turned on but audio worked fine when key was in accessory position. (I unplugged battery, fuse, factory resetted, all that jazz). The issue cropped up when I had the serpentine belt replaced, the guy struggled with it and battery died. So I caved and took the car to the dealership to have it looked at. They said I needed a new radio module ($600 - $700). I bought one on eBay and installed it myself. Same behavior. I am not convinced that the issue is the ACM. Do I have to take it to the dealer to have the unit flashed to my VIN? Is there a wiring diagram I could look at to test some stuff out? Is there a sync unit somewhere that can be reset? Like I said before, it works fine in accessory. When the car is turned on or key is in on position, no audio BUT the radio is on and functions (I can push buttons and do things but no audio from the speakers). I could just be unlucky and got another faulty unit (I am skeptical of that since it came from a wrecked Edge and was guaranteed to work but it's still a possibility). Do the speakers get power from the battery when in accessory but from another source when the car is running? How do I test if the speakers are getting power? I bought a voltmeter and can figure out how to use it but I'm not sure where to look or what to do. I am new but I've learned some things in this effort and I value that. Thanks for everyone's help! -Alex
  9. Hi guys!! Does anybody know if a Sony radio faceplate off a 2013 Ford Edge Limited would be compatible with a 2013 SEL model? They look pretty similar to me but I want to make sure that it will actually work with my SEL.

Factory cargo mat modified for subwoofer opening. Subwoofer appears off-center in photo because woofer is recessed a few inches below..

  12. Brand new 2105 Ford Edge (3.5L v6 with 8-inch LCD touch screen) Just curious if anyone else has similar experience with the radio/entertainment system turning iteslf during engine startup. The entertainment system was off before shutting engine down. This has happened numerous times (maybe a dozen) over the past 3 months. Seldom, if ever, do we have the radio/entertainment system on at all and we always turn it off before shutting down the vehicle.
  13. Hi there, I am new to the Forum. I am from germany and just bought an 07 SEL Edge. It just came with the stock Radio, no GPS or touchscreen. I want to install a double DIN Radio with touchscreen and if possible GPS, like for example the Pioneer AVHX2700BS Is it just plug and play or is it hard to install it? Its very hard to find any information about that. Please help an unknown german. Thanks
  14. Hey all, I have a 2007 Edge SEL Plus that I have installed a Pioneer DVD player in the dash. The radio performance has been sub-par, especially on medium distant staions that the stock stereo, and every other stereo I've installed, have no problems picking up. The ONLY installation difference is the antenna adapter that was needed because Ford likes the mini antenna plugs. I want to look at the inexpensive fixes first, so, does anyone know the correct adapter to use? My research brings up a Dodge adapter... that doesn't sound right. I can't return the stereo because 1) I purchased it out of town and it took a while until I got to install it, and 2) I DON'T WANNA!!!! I have had multiple Pioneer units in the past, and radio reception has NEVER been an issue. Thanks in advance for any help!! Gary W.
  15. Hi All, Bought a new 2014 Edge SEL last week and decided to upgrade the Sync MyFord (not touch) to a Pioneer AppRadio 3 7" touch screen. Also upgraded the speakers to Polk Audio DB-571. This interfaces to my iPhone 5s. The App Radio 3 interfaces to iPhone or Android (check Pioneer site for Android models supported) I wanted an install that did not require cutting any factory cabling and would allow reverting back to stock easily. Here is a link to some pictures I took. Sorry quality isn't that good, used my cell phone. http://s446.photobucket.com/user/RocketNJ/library/Edge%20AppRadio%203%20install Here is a list of parts I used. Pioneer App Radio 3 Polk Audio DB-571 speakers (two pair) (came with adapter cables for the Ford harnesses) Metra 99-5829CH Dash kit Axxess AX-FD02 wiring harness Axxess AX-ADBOX2 OEM integration box Axxess ASWC-1 Steering wheel integration module Metra 40-EU10 antenna adapter www.metraonline.com http://axxessinterfaces.com I had the AppRadio 3 from a previous vehicle install Polk Audio speakers were ordered from Crutchfield. Free shipping and they provided the adapter cables to plug into the Ford harnesses. One note here - when plugging in one of the adapters one pin pushed out of the connector. It wasn't seated all the way. I pushed it back in then reconnected to the Ford harness. Double check before installing the speaker! Might save you some time troubleshooting. Notes on doors: (see pictures in link above) Front doors. Two Phillips screws along bottom panel. Bolts under power window switch plate and trim piece above door handle One Phillips screw along front edge of door panel just forward of the vent opening. Then there are some clips that pop out. Start at bottom front of door panel. Back doors Two Phillips screws along bottom edge of door panel Bolt under plastic cap along back edge of door panel Bolt under plastic rectangle under hand grip Dash disassembly notes (Instructions with above kits are good but this will help!) Trim pieces along sides of console pop off (4 clips). Start at rear of trim piece (closest to center console storage) and work your way forward. Console top piece around shifter - Four Torx screws and three clips hold it in.Remove the four Torx screws and then pop up the rear to releae rear clip. slide if backwards until the front clips release. Be careful as there is a wire with an LED that attaches under the shift indicator on bottom of drivers side. Make sure it is in place before reassembly. The rest of the instructions cover disassembly and reassembly. Before installing new dash kit in place, test that everything powers up and follow instructions for the ASWC-1 to set steering wheel controls. This requires accessing the reset button and watching LED on the ASWC-1. When completed with assembly, again remove battery for 1 minute and reconnect to reset everything. Then follow instructions to program the HVAC controls. The voice steering wheel control allows Sync to make and receive phone calls. The volume up & down work with both Sync and aftermarket stereo, depending on which is in use at the time. Default Sync volume after resetting everything is too loud. Use volume down on steering wheel to reduce it. Feel free to contact me for additional info! RocketNJ AT gmail DOT com

    Radio tuning

Is it possible to tune the radio by one digit at a time instead of only by presets? How? Thanks!
  21. Yesterday, I drove to the gym and back, all the audio worked, normal radio, normal Line-In for the iPhone music. Today, I turned it on all normal normal, and while everything appears to be functioning correctly, I'm getting zero volume. I know CD's are playing because the track time is playing, I know the radio is getting reception because it describes the station... yet with the volume on, mid-range or all the way up, nothing is happening. No white noise, no high-pitched whines... nothing. I checked all the fuses for everything related and those are all fine. Any other ideas out there? Has this happened to anyone else?
  22. I'm having trouble getting my Sirius satellite radio to work on my used 2008 Edge I bought 2 years ago. The dealer said the car was equipped with all the equipment but just needed to be re-activated for the Sirius to work (the car even has the small sticker on the window indicating this). Until now I never used Sirius, but I recently decided to get the service. As I was trying to activate the service, I couldn't get the Radio ID per the instructions from Ford and Sirius (i.e., hold AUX and Preset 1), but Sirius was able to find the radio via the VIN # and activate the radio. However, I cannot get the radio to tune/switch into the satellite mode. The instructions/guides all say to press AUX repeatedly to tune from AUX, SAT1, SAT2, SAT3. I can only get it into AUX mode - not any of the SAT tuners. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
  23. Just purchased a 2013 Edge Sport. It does have the Sync system but I do not think this is related. Since we have had it the radio will randomly lose signal. You can be driving one time and the radio will have perfect reception. The next time you get in you will hear nothing but static from all staions. We have taken it back to the dealership but of course no one has ever heard of that and have no idea what could cause it. Anyone have any ideas?
  24. Hey fourm, I have a problem after installing an aftermarket double din radio. I do not have any bass coming from my speakers like I did from my factory radio. I have the audiophile speaker system, but after the install, neater the factory subwoofer works or the bass. I really appreciate your comments and thoughts. Thanks, Jorge Installed : jvc avx710 Radio Wire Harness (just one plug) Antenna Dash Kit
  25. Anyone else having a problem when you end a call and the AM Radio comes on to 640 and you can't shut it off except by voice? Also while driving with the entertainment system off, the radio will come on by itself. I am told there are others with the problem and Ford is working on it...Whats your opinion...The last upgrade did not fix it...
