    Tires for Snow?

Hi all, Just bought a ā€˜13 Edge Sport with FWD. It has 22ā€ wheels and currently Toyo Proxes ST III’s on it that seem to be in good shape. I’ve never had a tire with such little sidewalls, and I’m wondering if I need to make some changes before winter. Cost is definitely a factor. They are apparently all season, and I’m not planning on off-roading in the snow, but there are a couple of mountain passes that I could need to go over in winter, and sometimes I need to be on the road before the plows come out. (Not super-snowy where I am in Coeur d’Alene, but we get our share.) I’m used to the Cooper Discoverer AT3’s I had on my Escape, with which I never even thought about snow. Getting 18ā€ or 20ā€ wheels AND winter tires would break the bank. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. I have a 2019 ST with stock tires Summer PZero 265/40ZR21 (105Y). With winter coming, I have the following dilemma: Replace with all weather tires? Purchase winter tires and switch out the tires every six months? Purchase a new set of wheel rims and fit with winter tires? Stick with Pirelli? Pros and Cons would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Hi all, I realize this is very subjective but I only need two tires as my Discoverer CTS are doing really well... I bought my 2011 Edge LTD AWD with 62K miles on it and it had near new Cooper CTS tires. I've got 98K miles now and one of the front tires is wearing unevenly. It's likely due to a bad tie rod end. I liked the Coopers but they don't make them any more. The latest (I think) is the CS5 Ultra. All my other tires are looking great with the rears looking only slightly worn. They are getting very good tread wear. That said, I only want to buy two tires for now but concerned with mix and match performance - especially on an AWD vehicle. My gas mileage is averaging 21.2 mpg which is down from 23.4 when I bought it back in 2016. I am in the NE US so wet/snow performance needs to be good (the CTS were fine). I hope to get the road noise lower too. Has anyone been driving on Cooper tires? If so which ones? Any other recommendations are appreciated. Thanks for any insights. Moderator: This was mistakenly posted in brakes and suspension topic but I don't know how to remove it from there. My apologies.

    Pirelli tires

The factory tires Pirelli Scorpion on my 2015 Edge Sport are shredding....WHY??
  6. For Sale - 4 Ford Edge Sport 21" Rims & Tires. These are 2016 factory Ford rims with factory Pirelli Scorpion tires on them. Tire size is 265/40 R21. Ford TPMS sensors are installed in the rims. A matched factory set. Excellent condition. I bought these as a spare set for our 2016 Ford Edge Sport, but have never used them. The tread depths of the tires varies from 6/32nds to 9/32nds. New tread depth for these tires is listed by Pirelli as 12/32nds. There are two curb marks that I have included pictures of. You can buy these rims used from Detroit Wheel & Tire for $350 per wheel, the tires are $220 each (new), and the TPMS sensors are ~$50. Add mounting, balancing and you are well over $2k. $1,250. Located in central Ohio. Will drive to the edges of the state to meet. Prefer not to ship. Thanks - Doug

    20ā€ rims and tires SOLD!

Selling (4) 20" Lexani Wheels Gravity Black with CNC Accents Rims 5x108 bolt pattern center bore 63.4 mm With nitto nt420s 245/45r20 Tires. 2 of the 4 rims have minor curb rash the other 2 perfect. Tires have about 50% thread left. Fits 2015+ edges and other Ford/Lincoln vehicles.
  8. Removed from my wife's 2015 Edge Sport. The tires are worn (See photos) but in decent shape. One wheel has a minor scuff (see photo) but it not noticeable more than a few inches away. I got a quote to fix for $120 but decided to go a different route. Located in South Florida, THEY CAN BE SHIPPED Via Greyhound Package express, I drop them at the Fort Lauderdale Depot and you pick them up a few days alter at your local bus station, and its reasonably priced. They have been off the car for about two months and I have put them on Craigs list and Ebay. Due to the recent storm I cannot submit a photo with todays date as they are packed in my garage and difficult to get to. I AM A MOTIVATED SELLER, asking $1000 but taking REASONABLE offers. 9. I installed a set of Michelin Premier LTX (v) rated tires in mid February 2017. No I am 10 weeks into the use of these tire and I will state I love them as far as performance on the road and in the wet weather. Plus they are very quiet tires with a great ride quality. Here is the rub. The tires from the factory have 9/32nds tread. I have ran 11K miles on them in 10 wks. They are now down to 5/32nds of tread in the front and less than 8/32nds on the rears. What does this mean. For me the tires will be completely worn down to less than 2/32nds by about August in just 6 months or so. The tires are warrantied for 60K miles and I will be lucky to get 25-30K miles out of them.
  10. All in excellent shape. I sold my 2016 Ford Edge last month but have these items I paid handsomely for, and selling for a song. Located in Boulder, CO, but will ship. Serious buyers only. Motivated seller. Make me an offer for all or some. Thanks. https://denver.craigslist.org/pts/6195938216.html https://boulder.craigslist.org/wto/6165490073.html

    Looking to replace stock rims

I was looking to blacking out my rims, is there any way I could take the stock rims off the stock tires and putting new rims on the stock tires? If so, what size rims would I need to get. Thanks.
  12. What is everyone using this winter? Here's what I'm thinking : Tires: Continental Winter Contact SI 245-50-20 or the Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2 Rims: http://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/Winter+Rims/Touren+TR60/3260-2814Gw?vehicleid=136456 or http://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/Replika/R189/R189-2085-31BN-45C634?vehicleid=136456(another member has these ones : http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/21366-see-my-new-black-20-inch-winter-rims/) Anyone have experience with either of these tires?
  13. Recently unmounted my Blizzaks and installed the summer tires. Bridgestone Dueler H/L Ecopia 422's on my OEM (garbage chrome clad) wheels I had balancing issues again, but eventually found the fix to make them balance. This video is on the mounting of the Bridgestones.
  14. Not sure if I'm in the right forum but here goes nothing......I have a 2011 Ford Edge AWD SE that only came with 20k miles during 3 years owndership-at time of purchase drivers front tire was down to the wear bars. They replaced all 4 tires with yokohama directional tires (jerks). I have put about 30k miles on the car since buying and within the first 5k miles I noticed SIGNIFICANT wearing of the front tires. Went in for oil change and they did not rotate my tires so of course they got worse....after 10k they were in rough shape with 'cupping' and more noticeable wear. Tires were rotated at this time. Also had tie rods replaced. They did not see any other noticeable front end issues. After 15k miles the front tires were now even with the rear (which were previously the front). Front end alignment done and was horribly off (BAD). I live on a smooth dirt road and I am not a crazy driver. I treat my car very well and get all routine maintenance done. I continue to have noticeable front end tire wear and have been to 2 different ford dealers that cannot find a front end problem other than tie rods that have been fixed and I get routine alignments. Now my tires after 30k miles have so much wear on them I have a leak in one that requires inflation every 48 hours, (I KNOW, RIGHT?!) Is anyone else having these issues? I have also called corporate with these issues with no headway. I'm losing my mind and a lot of money with replacing tires after 30k.
  15. Another loss for me for trading in my 2014 Edge for a 2016. But it could be your gain! (4) 18x8 Sport Edition A9 Titanium in Gunmetal rims - 5x114.3 bolt pattern (4) 245/60R18 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 winter tires Installed with Ford's tire pressure monitors Approximately 5,000 miles on them during 2 relatively mild Ohio winters. I'd keep them, but they don't fit the new Edge. $1,100 - and I ship these FREE.
  16. I have a 2014 Ford Edge with 20K miles on it. I have been dealing with a chronic vibration (felt in the seat not in the steering wheel) for the past year and a half now. I can not pin point a pattern of any type, it appears to happen at random speeds, no rhyme or reason. I have taken this car to every tire shop around, every Ford dealer around, and no one can find the issue. I replaced the tires about a month ago because the Ford dealer said that needed to be the first place I start in order to find the issue. I have had the new tires balanced about 3 times now and still get a vibration. The interesting thing is that every place I go says that all the wheels are in great shape (no bends etc), but when they put the wheels on the balance machine, they balance out differently each time. For example I took it to a tire dealer in my area, they pulled all 4 wheels and put them on the balance machine. They spun each tire 4 times consecutively...3 of the wheels each time had a different reading on the balance machine..1 was perfect every time. This same thing has happened at multiple tires shops/dealers etc. No one can figure it out! Very frustrating! Can anyone shed some light on this issue??? Thanks!!

    Edge Sport 21" Alloy Tires?

So my dealer forgot to order my 21" alloys, meaning they are going to have to ship me a new set of 21" alloys which do not come with tires, so I am wondering: A) What are the factory provided tires on 21" alloys (brand and model) What are the best all-weather 21" alloy tires (I live in MN so combination of snow and sun) Thanks
  18. I am preparing to replace the original 20" Pirelli Scorpion STR's on my 2011 Edge and am curious what other owners are rolling with and what replacement tires they are recommending. I was considering the Bridgestone Ecopia's though the rep at a local tire store was recommending Yokahoma YK580's.
  19. Anyone know if this will work? I originally ordered +40mm TSW Donington's, but now I am rethinking it quickly before it's too late to find something like it in a +30. I believe factory 20's are +35? Thanks in advance
  20. I have 4 2012 Ford Edge 18" chrome wheels for sale. They are in great condition - no scratches or curb rash. Just a little dirty. The original tires are on them now, with some tread left but not much. I would say maybe another 5-10k miles at most. Would like to sell them as a set, but open to individual wheels if people need just one. $350 for the set; $100 individual wheel. I am in Cortland, NY area, so if you need the tire shipped that will be extra.

    Replacing 22" Pirellis HELP

I am the second owner and bought at 15,000 miles. I have 22" Pirellis and 22,000 miles on my 2012 edge. I am searching for a new tire but it seems I should have gotten better mileage out of the factory tires. Any suggestions on a good tire that proves to be quality and long lasting?

    Nankang Sp-5 Tires

I have a 2013 Edge Sport and I am in need of new tires. Long story short, I bought the Edge 6 months ago and the dealer said multiple times the tires had at least 50% tread left and there was nothing to worry about. On my last car I bought from a dealership, I had to buy new tires within 6 months so I made sure they rechecked these tires. I should have paid closer attention. I went back to the dealership a week later complaining of noise and they said the tires are worn and cupped and that they recommend I replace them. They would not do anything for me and said they weren't going to stick any more money into this car and since it is used, they weren't required to do anything. I logged a complaint to the Better Business Bureau but that was a joke and nothing was ever done about it. Now 6 months later, there is a tear in the front tire from wear and I need new tires immediately. I get the a 27% discount (out of 30%) on Progressive Snapshot so it wasn't because of my driving. Does anyone have the Nankang Sp-5 tires and their experience? I am just looking for a budget all-season tire in 265/40/22. I don't really want to drop another $1,000 on this car right now with a baby due in 2 days! Or let me know another tire that I should look into. Thanks,
  23. Hi all. We ended up trading in my wife's edge and went with an explorer. I have the 245/60r18 Bridgestone Blizzaks that were on it for last winter that have about 6-7K miles and are still like new. These are about $800 installed new, so you are saving almost 50% at $450. We had a ton of snow here in Michigan last year and with these tires my wife never once had an issue (her edge was front wheel drive). I haven't posted a lot in this forum (primarily used as a resource for reading when we had our edge) but you can find me on eBay under the same user id of jony51999 and you will see I've been a member since 2002 and have 100% feedback so you can be assured I'm trustworthy. I'm located in southeast Michigan and can be reached via the forum or at jony51999@aol.com
  24. Was going to use these as a winter set, but just bought tires for my rims currently on. These tires have less than 100 miles on them and include TPMS sensors, no road or curb rash. Also they have Lincoln logo center caps and not the Ford ones. Asking 1400 as the tires are around $200 each TMPS sensors are over $50 each and I'm sure Ford wants over $300 per wheel.
