Roof Rack / Rails on newer Edge with Vista Sunroof

I have a 2010 Ford Edge with the big panoramic vista sunroof. I purchased and installed the OEM roof rails so that I could put roof racks on. It easy to do, just removed a trim strip and put in the rails, it worked great. I am looking to buy a new Edge, again with the panoramic vista sunroof but it appears that putting a roof rack on is a bit more challenging. I saw an old rack attack blog post (https://www.rackattack.com/blog/ford-edge-with-panoramic-vista-roof-and-roof-rack/) where they talk about installing a Thule Top-Track with Flare-Nuts on an Edge with the Vista Sunroof. This would involve drilling into the roof, which I would be fine with BUT it appears to me that there is a strip of glass the runs along either side of the vista roof. Is this correct? Can any owners of 2019 or latter Edges tell me what is the material of the strip that runs along the edges of the sunroof? -
Cleaning and Resetting Vista Roof Rails

The Vista Roof on our '10 Edge has always been slow but its now getting to the point that it is extremely slow for the last 10" of closing. We've had dealer look at the issue each time we had it in for servicing since new (under warranty). Took it back this past week and they still claim that the motors pass all diagnostic and that the roof rails need cleaning and resetting? Asked me if I parked under a tree as they were very dirty (which we don't). Seems odd that this had been done multiple times with little success. Is this a service I can do instead of paying for 2 hours labour at the dealer? I've seen the 3 videos from a gentlemen addressing the 'fail to close' issue but he only speaks to cleaning the grease from the rails and then lubricating, not 'resetting.' Any info would be appreciated as I'd like to get this done next week before it gets really cold! Will snap some pics if that helps. Just tell me what shots would be most helpful. -
Hi, everything was fine on my 2008 Edge SEL AWD until the sunshades stop working, I never noticed something wrong with them they worked smoothly all the time; but today when try to close both Vista Roof and sunshades, only the glass worked but the sunshades remain at open position, when try to close I listen a sound on the motor like it's stucked but not sure. Does anyone experienced this situation? how can be fixed this issue? appreciate your help!

Hey all, I have a 2007 SEL Plus, and the weatherstripping between the front and rear glass on the vista roof is coming apart. :-( I have looked in my Chilton manual, searched YouTube, Google, and various other resources without any luck... SO...., my question to you... what is the method used to replace this piece? I haven't had any leaks yet, and hopefully it won't before I can replace it. Oh, yeah, what is the part number or name of the part so I can get the correct one? Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome!!! Gary W.

2014 Edge with Vista Roof and question about side rails / roof rack

Hi all, I purchased a 2014 Edge Limited with a Vista sunroof and I wanted to get the side rails installed and the dealer said they would not install that option. I was told that if I purchased the side rails myself and brought the car in for service my warrantee on the sunroof would be voided. Is this true? If it is not true is it possible to purchase the side rails and install them myself? Is it a lot work to install them and does anyone know of a tutorial on how to do it. Vista rook opens to vent on its own

I have a 2011 edge and just noticed that the vista roof will open to the vent position after it has been parked for a couple hours. This has happened about ten times of the past month. It happens irregularly. II do not have the window or vent package like the mix where you hold the lock button down. Dealership doesn't get any flags when it's run through the computer. -
Vista Roof Shade Problem

My mother-in-law has an '07 Lincoln MKX with about 20,000 miles on it. So far she's avoided the vista roof BAMR horror stories, although I'm sure she rarely even opens the shade. I took the car to get an oil change today and when I began to open the shade, the rear shade on the drivers side began to wrinkle and was nowhere near as tight as the front shade or the passenger side of the rear shade. I pressed the close button to bring it back and the entire rear shade snapped back in the open position and rolled. I tried to gently pull the shade back out but it didn't seem to budge. The front shade and the BAMR still work fine. Any suggestions? Thank you.
