BERLIN - Ford is bringing its Sync with MyFord Touch infotainment system to Europe next year with the debut of the new Ford Focus Electric, the car maker announced today at IFA.

The European version of the Microsoft-powered Sync with MyFord Touch will include enhanced voice-activated functionality, mobile Wi-Fi, and an 8-inch color touch screen, Ford said.

Ford released its standalone Sync product in the B-Max car this year, and it will now extend Sync with MyFord Touch to the Ford Focus Electric in 2013. PCMag's Jamie Lendino reviewed the U.S. version of Sync with MyFord Touch back in May and found it to be an "extremely capable system."

The updated Sync with MyFord Touch that will debut on the Focus Electric next year includes beefed up voice options, including the addition of new language understanding. The European Focus Electric will understand nine European languages including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and Turkish.

The idea is to help drivers keep their hands on the wheel while using the phone, the entertainment system, adjusting the temperature, and inputting directions into the GPS. Someone could say, "Call Chloe" without having to say "Phone," even if Sync is focused on audio, navigation, or another mode.

On the navigation front, Ford said Sync with MyFord Touch will allow users to speak aloud a destination address without needing the city, postcode, and street. But as PCMag's Lendino noted in his review, there were a few kinks that need to worked out when it comes to navigation that will hopefully be addressed on the Focus Electric.

"Voice-activation is a key element of our Sync systems," Jason Johnson, supervisor for infotainment and connectivity at Ford of Europe, said in a statement. "It simplifies the experience for the customer and simplifies the voice-activation experience to deliver real benefit."

The Sync with MyFord Touch interface includes two USB ports, SD Card input, and Audio/Video RCA inputs. You can also hook the system up to Bluetooth, providing access to phone book contacts and incoming text messages, and allowing for pre-set text message responses to be sent to specific numbers while you are driving. A Bluetooth-tethered mobile phone, meanwhile, can serve as a hotspot for up to five devices.

The touch screen can be customized with personal photos as background images or photos that accompany incoming calls or texts.

Sync with MyFord Touch will also include Ford's Emergency Assistance, which directly connects the car to emergency personnel in the event of an accident.

The new Mondeo (Fusion) is also available with MyFordTouch, so it's a good bet a Europe map SD card is on its way.

The Focus coming over here was a fail because the sync system was different from the one sold in the States. Hearing that MFT is coming here is really hopeful.

I think you'd better buy a Europe version sd card like "Ford F2 card" , thats should be compatible. You can purchase in Ebay.
