Hi.

I would like to know what version of VCM works with Ford Edge 2013. Information on the web makes me think that some VCMs only work with models up to 2012.

I need VCM and IDS software in order to activate the remote start function. The only local dealer charges too much for activating the function, so I'm considering if I should buy a used VCM and do it myself. Then I can keep it for future diagnostics or sell it. What options do I have, given that I have a 2013 Edge?

Can you clarify this for me?

The older one will work on the 2013. You may have to update the software in it, but IDS should do that automatically.

Thank you JimmyK. I was afraid because I read somewhere that 2013 models require VCM II. I actually went to a shop with VCM (older version) that could not establish the connection with my car. Now I know that it may be due to older version of IDS.

According to this site you'll need the VCM-II

VCM II
The VCM II will be introduced in the second half of 2012. The IDS software will support both the VCM and the VCM II.

I think that my Ford Edge 2013 Remote Start was programmed with VCM (not VCM II). Also see previous (above) post by JimmyK confirming that VCM can be used on 2013 cars.
