I recently got a letter from Ford stating a new software version was now available to down load for Sync. I have taken the time to download the file to a USB drive. I have been unable to get the file to upload to the Sync System. I have the engine running and radio on as instructed.....any suggestions?

Same here. Keeps giving errors. I may call the 800 number and see if they will send a USB pre- loaded with the file(s).

Is the file the only thing on the USB drive? You should be able to browse to the system menu and select update

Yes, clean USB drive. I finally got to browse menu, it says no files detected......go back to computer it show the file is on the drive. I don't understand why the didn't engineer it where you could do it through wi-Fi. Very frustrated with Sync.

Mine is. Used the ford owner, sync my ride download (30 minutes) told me it needed files in root. Did that, sees the drive and files but cannot load the update.

You need to unzip the file. Copy the contents of the file to the root of your flash drive. You should have 2 files (autoinstall & DONTINDX) & 1 folder (SyncMyRide).

If it still does not work, try a different USB flash drive.

I called the number on the letter Ford sent. Very nice person and very helpful. She said I would get USB with download in 7 to 10 days. Very little wait time on phone.

fleggex,

Do you know that the usb that you get from them is reusable. After you install the update successfully., and verified the install. erase all files from the usb and use it for any future updates directly to the usb drive. This works every time for me.

Best Wishes, JC

It's more than likely the USB drive you're using. I know the one I had originally tried this with kept saying it couldn't find the update files on the drive (even though it was Fat32). Try using a different brand or type USB drive and see if that works. Or wait for the Ford stick :).

When you are in 4 square (home) mode, you don't have to tap each corner to get to that particular function, you can tap on each section. Hit voice button, and it comes up with a screen with commands you can say. Not sure what else, just upgraded Friday.

I've noticed "where am I" on the info screen (with coords, etc) and colored zones now on the periphery of back up camera. Also, artist/title on main four square screen...

OK, took awhile to get around to it. Followed instructions that came with the Ford USB. All was well thru the reboot and wait for about 20 minutes or so, 40 minutes later reboot had not completed. Turned car off, unplugged USB. Instructions said May have to do a master reboot. Started again and Nav, radio, etc does not come up to allow a master reboot. Gonna let it rest overnight and retry. Anyone else have this problem?

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to force a reboot (or pull fuse#29 or

) to see if the system starts.

Somewhere along the way.....3.5 or 3.6.....my phone stopped pairing. I could get it connected manually....usually.....but it would not connect on it's own. I even made sure it wasn't getting another Blue Tooth signal from another phone. Still wouldn't connect itself. I just figured it had something to do with the recent updates.

Well....a couple days ago, playing around with my phone, I noticed, under settings, it had a site for "update phone software". I did that....and now phone pairs and connects perfectly. Wonder how many other Sync problems are really phone problems. It's easy to just say a phone isn't compatible with Sync and let it go at that. But sometimes you can easily fix the phone.

RJG Glad it worked for you. I agree to a point that many users need a little more guidance to get things to work....The big thing now is clean pair & reboot for car & knowledge of advanced settings on their phone...BUT I have the other version of story.

I've been around since beginning of MFT v 1.8 in 10/10. When the BIG 3.0 update happened my LG dumb phone became non compatible with the address book. I always had to do man. download but this time it BRICKED. I had over 20 emails from Ford IT specialists that eventually stated it was Tough breaks... But well placed persistent calls to a Regional rep got me the we can't fix it but we can make it go away approach. I got a iPhone & 6 months data on them for the go away approach...

I installed my update on Sunday and it worked great for 4 days. I have an iPhone 5 and was thrilled that my texts were being read to me. THEN, Friday morning my phone wouldn't even connect. I had to delete my phone, turn car off, and add phone again. It paired but now I get a message that it can't read my text messages in bluetooth mode (it used to). So I thought, fine damn thing! I plugged to USB and it still said it wasn't supported. But it worked fine for 4 days!!!

I dont know what to do. I'm really hating MFT.
