"DUAL" Button in A/C

Guys,

 

I want to know the exact WORK of the button "DUAL" in A/C.

I cannot understand from manual.

When I press it,

it just shows both (Driver & Passenger) side temperature.

It's function is to combine or separate the left and right temperature settings. If Dual is off, the driver's side setting will control both sides. If Dual is on, the temperatures can be set independently. If you use the passenger temperature adjustment, it will automatically turn Dual on.

Its kinda backwards from other systems I've used (Subaru, BMW, Honda), but you just need to get used to it. It confused me as well in the beginning.

How is it backwards? It toggles the setting from separate controls to common controls.

Its backwards because in the other cars, enabling "DUAL" made the temperature consistent with the driver. In the Edge, enabling "DUAL" lets the passenger select their temperature, independent of the driver.

Doesn't that make the other cars backwards? Enabling DUAL enables dual control. How is that confusing?

Maybe OPPOSITE would be a better description than BACKWARD?

actually I thought the same.

BUT......

 

a] How do I know it is enable of disable ?

b] When we switch on the AC, is it default (Enable or Disable) ?

c] When I enable it (I guess) it should move both side temp. together, that what I understand, but it is not doing it. is there something wrong ?

d] If YES, then how to fix it ????

 

The ONLY thing I get by pressing the DUAL button is that it shows both sides temp. on the display....

What are you trying to do? If you want the passenger temperature to be different, just push the passenger temperature buttons. If you want them to be the same and they are not, press the dual button.

a - There is a small indicator light directly above the Dual button

b - It should default to the last setting

c - No, when you enable it the two sides (dual) adjust temperature independently. Turn it off to adjust both together (single).

d - N/A

If you only see one temp when you change it then that's the temp for both sides. If you see 2 temps then each side is independent. If you only see one and you want the passenger side to be different use the passenger side temp controls. If you see two and you want one press the dual button.
