The Edge Concept features some advanced technologies that will likely appear in the redesigned Ford Edge some point next year. Along with the Range Rover Evoque-esque styling, the Edge Concept features some advanced driving technologies that will demonstrate how Ford is advancing with its autonomous car technology. They adversely harm the ride and performance and weigh a ton. Pretty cool times we live in! I wonder if the Edge will get the 2.3 turbo with 275 hp and 300 lb ft. It's still a four banger but 300 lb ft is a huge number! I hope there is a model with the bigger wheels, and it resembles the concept vehicle. I want one with all the bells, and whistles like my 2013 Edge sport. Some of what I noticed on the concept: + Frameless door glass (Probably on the 2015 production model, frameless door glass is on the announced 2015 Lincoln MKC) + Integrated door handles (Probably NOT on 2015 production model) + LED headlamp/tail lamp (probably no LED headlamps on the 2015 production model) + Turn signals that are part of the chrome (also the fog light appear to have chrome to LED technology too) + Cool, clean interior + 10" touch screen (probably on 2015 production model) + More knobs to aid touch screen + Air curtain for the wheel opening for aerodynamics (According to BMW, 30% of vehicle drag is from the wheels and wheel openings. The inlet around the fog lights appear to be for the air curtain. The Ford Atlas concept uses active shutter on the rims and BMW uses air curtain and rims designed to reduce this drag.) + Active grill shutter (carryover from 1 generation Edge but appear to be more integrated shutters) + Adaptive steering (probably on production model. You don't have to turn the wheel as much even for a u turn) + Auto stop/start for fuel efficiency (Ford has said this will be on the production model, aggressive rollout of stop/start technology across Ford line) + Self park in or out of vehicle (probably NOT on 2015 production model) + Steer and brake collision avoidance system (car brakes or turns automatically) probably NOT on 2015 production model, maybe just brake + 2.3 EcoBoost (probably on the 2015 production model, already announced on the 2015 MKC.) I upgraded to 22's and still get an average of 21mpg with city/highway and roughly 24mpg on Road Trips across the states.. I think the 10lbs per rim that I went up, didn't hurt much..
