2015 Edge MPG

Highway figures have enormous variability, so do city ones. Beyond Octane, car mileage and speed, here are a few other parameters:

- how many times have you accelerated to pass another car?

- how aggressive are you at doing so?

- was the road fairly flat or hilly?

- how bad was the head wind?

- how many slow up's then resume's because of Sunday drivers or traffic swarms?

- what was the total weight during the trip (driver only, family, luggage...) ?

- gas tank full most of the time?

- tire pressure?

- tire thread (winter, summer, 4 season, high speed)

- what was the average outside temperature during the trip?

- cruise or not?

- AC on or not

- side and/or panoramic roof open?

What I tend to check is instant consumption on a flat straight road at my regular cruising speed (120km/h or 75m/h); even then I take it with a grain of salt. The reason for that is that my biggest surprise was looking at my outrageous consumption over time that included a 40 minute stand still during a Sync update.

'15 AWD Sport (2.7L V6) 20" rims with 1200 miles on it. Always filled with 93 octane. Have never reset Trip 2 since it was new. Shows 18.9 mpg per computer. 90% city driving with the AC on all the time in the seats and mostly in the cabin. Pedal to the floor at most lights and If I'm getting on the freeway I'm hitting 80 halfway up the on ramp. Thats why I bought a Sport. If i wanted MPG i would have bought a SEL or Titanium with a little motor.
