Factory Access Code Incorrect on the Owner's Card

Recommended Posts

Anyone else had this issue? Tried using the factory access code indicated on the card and it didn't work so I brought my 15 Edge Titanium to the dealer for service. At first they thought that the keypad has a hardware issue but after the service, they found out that the code indicated on the card doesn't match the specific factory access code for my Edge and they've just given me the correct code on the Service Report. Just sounds fishy to me.

Fishy, how so? Cars come in mis-built all the time. When the mechanic hooks the computer (IDS) up to the car, they can access the code directly. I could certainly see it being possible that the code on the card doesn't match.

They could have simply gotten the wrong card at the factory but that's very unusual. I think you'd have to replace the BCM to actually change the factory code.

Maybe the sales person grabbed the wrong manual/documentation pack?

There's probably another 15 Titanium running around that was delivered to the dealer about the same time with your card and you have his.

The owners manual also tells you how to get the factory code to display in the information display. No trip to the dealer needed.
