Winter wheels are on!

Damn, those look great! And this sealed the deal for me going with gunmetal or a darker color (not black) on my pearl 2011.

The color is great for staying clean looking in the winter as well. Couldn't be happier with the choice. Edited by Burrcold

Those look great! I wish i had found something like that when i was looking for winter wheels and tires. i just went with the ford package of wheels that are the standard SE (or SEL?) 18" ones. Oh well. maybe next time.

Thanks! I contemplated that SE package from Ford but it was around the same price, worse tires for dry driving (which is what I was looking for) and the obvious 18 vs 19 inch.

Ā

i got the michelin alpine sports latitude x-ice which i've always had on every car. grip is awesome and stopping power is too, wet or dry.

[edit to add: i thought i had the alpin but i just noticed that i'm mistaken. i've always had the alpin in the past so went with the latitude x-ice this time since that's what was avilable.]

I didn't have any luck finding anything decent in the local shops, so I bought mine online at www.wheelwiz.ca and paid about the same price ($2020 CAD all in). Shipping was free, tires were mounted and balanced with TPMS sensors. I put them on myself and used a Bartec Tech 200 tool to clone the original TPMS sensors onto the new wheels. I'm on the west coast and the wheels were delivered just under a week after I ordered them (shipped from Montreal). I have to admit I was a bit hesitant ordering from a relatively new company online, but I was impressed with their service and knowledge.

Wheels are 18" Fast Switch titanium finish and tires are Michelin Lattitude X-Ice2. I had Michelins on my previous vehicle and they work very well for the terrain I drive in. Fast Wheels list these wheels as "approved for winter use" which I think just means that there are no surfaces that might corrode with exposure to salt.

Wow! The 19s dont look bad at all. I thought they would look strange on a Sport but not at all. I ordered a set of 20s with Conti WinterContact SI from PMCTire for $2370 (fitted on rims, balanced, TPMS, Nitrogen). Going on the car this weekend. Will post pics here if you dont mind sharing your thread.

I got the same tire ( the goodyears ) with a Touren tr9 rims no sensor for $1600 tax in.

18 or 19 inch? They had offered me those as well in a matte black but I didn't like the flat 5 spoke design. The wheels I got took a while to be ordered in but I love that they have some depth (concave design) to them. And the finish nicely matches the Sport in white. I really wanted a winter wheel that I liked this time around since they are on 5-6 months of the year.
