Robw13 Report post Posted March 6, 2018 Which brand would be a better choice on the Front Strut Mounts for my 07 FWD Edge? MC, KYB or Moog? The Moog & KYB look little different than the MC's. Also, MC or KYB for the Struts correct? And would Stock Springs still be any good with 250k on em?
enigma-2 Report post Posted March 6, 2018 Motorcraft. Nothing is better than OEM. (Except the aftermarket advertising).
macbwt Report post Posted March 7, 2018 I have tried different brands and can say I came back to the Motorcraft.. Others will fail prematurely.
Robw13 Report post Posted March 7, 2018 Is the MC Struts themselves good or would aftermarket be fine for those to? Also, should I purchase New Strut Mount Bushings?
macbwt Report post Posted March 8, 2018 Is the MC Struts themselves good or would aftermarket be fine for those to? Also, should I purchase New Strut Mount Bushings? Not sure where you are getting information on front strut bushings. You can replace your struts and strut bearing mounts with MC parts or as I prefer I use MC strut bearing mounts and KYB Excel G struts. KYB does sell quick struts now for the Edge. The strut bearing mount will be KYB and I have no reason to believe the strut bearing mount will be any less quality than the MC parts. KYB will provide a firmer ride and IMO better handling. The OEM will be a softer ride.
Robw13 Report post Posted March 8, 2018 Are the Monore Brand ok quality? Rockauto has them as a Complete assembly but if their not, I don't mind buying everything separate.
macbwt Report post Posted March 11, 2018 Are the Monore Brand ok quality? Rockauto has them as a Complete assembly but if their not, I don't mind buying everything separate. KYB sells a quick strut for the Edge now. I would go with the KYB as I plan on doing this with my 2011 soon.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W Report post Posted March 11, 2018 KYB QuickStruts are available for 2011-14, not yet for 2007-10. So pick Motorcraft for best overall ride, KYB for sporty ride, but keep the mounts Motorcraft.
addisonm06 Report post Posted March 12, 2018 Recently replaced both my struts and mounts. After debating the same question, i went with motorcraft for both; very happy i did! Do as others have advised and definitely purchase Motorcraft mount either way.
PrinzII Report post Posted April 3, 2018 What are the part numbers for the MC strut mounts? I might as well replace those while i am doing the whole thing.
addisonm06 Report post Posted April 3, 2018 I have a 2011 FWD. My vehicle used the following. I ordered them from RockAuto as at $32 a piece, that was the cheapest i could find. MOTORCRAFT AD1100 Strut Mount
enigma-2 Report post Posted April 3, 2018 If you go with Motorcraft, make certain you get the ones for your tire size (18" tires are different that 20" tire size). Aftermarket are universal are not manufactured to that precision.
