2016 Sport Engine Won't Accelerate and Low Oil Pressure Light

Hi guys,

Over the weekend I experienced this issue twice. Upon heavy acceleration the engine will stop accelerating (even with pedal buried) and the low oil pressure light will flash for a split second. If you ease back into the throttle it is fine but heavy acceleration again resulted in the same problem. No power loss of any other issues. I imagine it's a fail safe so you don't ruin the engine but no clue what's causing this. Anyone ran into this? Will be visiting the dealer in a couple days.

Possibly need a PCM and/or Instrument Cluster recalibration? Did you pull codes, might be a clue there?

Sounds like power cut out, which could have caused the EOP light to flash.

If this happened after going over a big bump of some sort, it is worth checking the fuses in the engine compartment. They can become unseated sometimes. Had this happen on an EB F150.

It was low on oil. Dealer is doing a "control test" topped it off supposedly marked it and I have to take it back to have them check it. About 1000 miles later I'm low again, I will be going back to the dealer. They said I must do this 3 times. I'm worried they are not addressing the issue and this is going to cause permanent damage. Any suggestions or thoughts? Btw, this is the 2nd dealer I've taken it to the first just told me they could find nothing wrong topped it and sent me on my way.

What is your build date? There is a TSB, 17-2235, that covers builds from April 2016 to Jan 2017.

See if your fits those dates: https://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23919-tsb-17-2235-2730l-oil-consumption-with-dtc-p0524-or-p06dd-rough-idle-misfire-or-white-or-blue-exhaust-smoke-4116-1117/

05/05/16 build date. Yeah they're insisting we have to play this game 3 times. I brought up the service bulletin and caught nothing but f'n attitude from the guy after that. Insisting I bring it in tomorrow. MF'r I work too, not possible. I work from home so I'm not driving it anyway. Monday we see each other face to face, give me tude then.

If I knew how to drag race well I would give this a try. Living in the Chicago area I have a few tracks in about a 2 hour or less drive. I just suck at it. My WRX I am about a second slower then a good driver behind the wheel. I know because I have had then get behind my wheel to show what the car can do. At best it is a 13.8 car. After tuning my 2018 Edge I am going to have something faster then the WRX and it will not look like it. :)

So here we are over a year later. Dealer and Ford finally concede the engine is bad and needs replaced. Sent me home in a loaner for 10 days. Ont the 10th day I get a call the loaner is no longer paid for by Ford and I will be charged here on. No sir! Got in contact with the Regional Rep and they are taking care of it until I get my car back. No update from the dealer, so today I contact them to check on the progress. They're indicating the torque converter was seized, and the splines were broke pulling it out. New one on order and expected finish date is now Friday. My question is how was I driving the car with the torque converter seized up? The car never showed any issues other than excessive oil burning and once low it was hesitating as someone mentioned earlier. Luckily I caught the massive amounts of smoke it was blowing on video to show and prove to them.
