Member's details not shown anymore?

Recommended Posts

Why are they not visible to other members? This runs counter to what most other forums do and to me makes absolutely no sense.

Agreed but that information is normally in the sig.  For some reason the majority of members on this forum choose not to fill out that profile information. It can really help zero in on an issue when someone posts without identifying the year/model of whatever it is they're talking about.

Besides that, it's fun noting what others drive/ride.  A Roush and a '99 Lowrider eh?  Cool!

I agree it can be helpful and I filled out the location information in the user settings but its only visible to me. Can you see my location info? I cant see yours.

Ya they're a fun pair to ride/drive. 🍻

It’s just a default setting somewhere - they’re not hidden on purpose.  I’ll ask Robert.

If I recall correctly we were told when signing up for access that only you and moderators could see your location and interests.  Unfortunately turning that feature on at this point so 'everyone' could see the info might be unpopular with some who were assured not 'everyone' could see it.  Way above my pay grade though.

Traditionally members have been encouraged to put information like that in their sig (where your alternative vehicles are shown).

If you put it in your signature then it's visible no matter what changes in the software, so that is a better solution.

I can only see it when I go to your profile (not within topics) and I'm pretty sure that's the same for anybody.

I gave Robert the link to this topic so hopefully he will chime in on that and the dark theme shortly.  Nothing I can do about either one.

I can now see the region & vehicle of members on both the desktop & mobile versions of the site. Thanks for the update, really helpful.

We turned those two feature requests on.  As for the dark theme, I totally agree and I am note sure why after of these years it's not part of the software!  Very frustrating.

Thanks for following up to me and getting back to me. I appreciate it.

I remember the details were shown, like region, number of posts and most importantly their vehicle (model/year). That was helpful, I don't see them anymore. Is it a setting I'm missing?

It changes every time the software gets updated.  I gave up trying to keep track of it.

Might be best to encourage folks to put it in their signature line if it keeps disappearing from below the avatar.

Edit: I's still showing in mine.

It only shows your own, not others.  You could ping Robert to try and change it.

In the mobile view I can't see signatures. Attached screenshot is what I see (as akirby stated, only my details show for me).

@robertlane, Can you please look into this? It was really helpful. Thanks. Another issue, were't ads disabled for Platinum members?

I added the information to my signature as 1004ron suggested. That is the easiest way around the issue and it's permanent.

The signature doesn't show in Mobile site.

Where do you find the signature to add year and model?.

- Click on your name, upper right.

- Go to account settings

- Look on the left side of the page. It's all there.

Best to add the vehicle detail to the signature in addition to the profile area below the avatar - some  forum updates wipe out the info displayed below the avatar.

@robertlane

Could you turn those features on again - location and ride is no longer showing in the profile.

@robertlane

@akirby

Yes, please turn them back on. It is very annoying not knowing what vehicle the poster is referring to.

That’s a a Robert thing - moderators can’t change it.
