Purge Valve Hose Clip...AGAIN

Howdy ! Long time original owner 2012 Edge Limited 3.5 AWD...anyways, of course I broke the clip taking the hose off. After a half hour of web surfing I don't know if the Dorman 800-040 or 041 or 023 will work on it. After replacing the valve & the hose, it did run nicely for a couple minutes, then the valve started ticking. Duralast PV637

 

Questions:

1) which Dorman clip will fit my Edge

2) does running it w/o the clip harm the valve in any way. I'd hate to have to walk to the Auto Zone.

Post a photo of the broken clip.

 

If its the retaining clips, then it will have no impact on the valve or engine unless the connection falls off - the O-ring inside the fitting keeps it sealed.

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, unfortunately the clip is in several pieces. I guess it broke & then dropped down into the engine compartment as the only piece I found was about an inch or so long. I didn't even know they were U shaped.

For future reference: Remove the purge value before moving the clip.

There is enough slack in the hose to do so. Makes it a lot easier.

Thanks...yeah, that might've helped...I'm gonna have a word with that guy on Youtube !  I hope I can get the clip on w/o snapping it. Amazon has them &m y daughter has Prime, so free delivery tomorrow.

The Dorman 800-040 clip fits perfectly.  Be sure to face the beveled side toward the valve.   Amazon has these as well listed as Fuel Line Retainer Clip Holder | Mechanic PACK of 4 FC-800-040.
