On the 2011 Edge the antenna is in the rear drivers side quarterpanel, behind the cargo area wall. It is plugged into the TPM (tire pressure monitor) module.

I didn't get from your post that they were trying to hide the problem. It appeared they did not want to start a public spat with apple since they still need to work with them. I have no doubt apple is causing some trouble with their obsessive desire to overcontrol their products. They are working together, perhaps even later this year an Apple authentication chip will be installed in the sync system to allow the iPhone interface to be displayed on the touch screen. I believe you are overreacting by saying they were being deceptive. They even delayed the start of production for over a month working on this system. They reached a point where it was good enough to allow production while they continue to work on improvements. I like the system even with it's bugs and I look forward to it being even better when they release updates and new apps.

I've noticed this same skipping with my iphone 3GS, v4.1 software.

I also have some of my library loaded on a USB stick and that does not appear to have the skipping issue.

I could swear that if I don't have a tachometer already displayed then I don't receive any gear indication in Manual mode. Can someone confirm the display is supposed to switch to a tachometer display?

I know it does because it will switch to the tach screen and show the gear number. When you switch back to Drive however its will not change the display back. I found that a little bit annoying so I know that is what happens.

1. Yes, with some exceptions. The Select Shift system will not let you do something stupid like overrev the engine or stall it. If your downshift will overrev it will blink and keep you in the current gear. Also if your upshift is too many gears for the speed it will also blink and keep you in the same gear (for example going 5 mph it will only let you shift from 1-2, if you try 3 it will stop you.)

2. Yes you can shift between M and D as you see fit. You have to push the shift lock button to go from D to M. From M to D you just push the knob back to D. The MyFord Display will switch to a tachometer reading with the gear number indicated if you don't already have a tachometer displayed. In this case it will not go back to your previous display when you go to D. If you already have a tachometer in the display it will add the gear number in red to the display.

When you guys pull out the #29 fuse ..thats a reboot..no.? When people do so, does it say system maintenance ?

 

All i know is that i have a brand spankin new sport that i got on tuesday. Works flawless so far ( everything..ipod,usb,bt,)

And am very happy (and impressed..) And the EXACT same event and the way it was reported by the OP happend to me, exactly as described..same date..and maybe same time. I could have written and posted this...

Mine says "Performing System Maintenance" when I pull the fuse.

I have had to pull the fuse for the following so far:

- USB ports stop working 3-4 times (fixed this by upgrading iPhone OS to v4.1)

- GPS fails to find location - Sync Services turn by turn 1 time

- Sync Service turn by turn download fails repeatedly 2 times

I have seen the system reboot itself once but I think it just froze up and rebooted.

It would really be nice if they gave us a reboot button in an update while they work on the bugs.

Recalls are a way of life these days.

 

Just about every car is going to have a recall for something sooner or later, my 1999 Cadillac, 2004 F-150 and 2005 Excursion all have had recalls. At least they didn't try to cover it up. Appears to be a simple programming fix.

This seems pretty simple. Interesting in that it shows how far into little details the new myford architecture can be programmed. This is for the lock on the hatch being programmed not to lock.

My volume button on the steering wheel sticks occassionally when I use it. Was trying to turn up the volume just a little bit and instead it stuck and kept on going....had my new boss with me, not a good impression when the radio starts blasting some Allman Brothers Band song. Only way I could stop it was to use the volume dial on the center stack.

 

This has happened three times since I've had my 2011 SEL. Anyone else experience this?

I've had that happen several times to me as well, I gets where it will keep running up and when I try to stop it it will eventually go the other direction. I'm not sure if it is the button or a delayed reaction / hang up with the MyTouch computer. I also had it happen while I was showing someone the car, lol.

Same issue with my MKX. I got the car last Friday and there seems to be an issue with both the USB and the SD card. When plugging any USB stick in, it will pop a message telling me my device is not supported. The weird thing is that the USB actually works (I am able to play my .mp3)...

 

As for the SD card, it showed no sign of life at all! I plugged in the GPS maps data and nothing showed up on screen (not even an error message). I purchased the SD card aftermarket from a guy on ebay, so it wasn't sold directly from the dealer. I still think it should be working right off the bat without doing any config, but all I see now on SYNC is the compass. Is there something I should be doing to activate the NAV or SD card?

 

I tried resetting the fuse #29, but that didn't work. I also tried doing the update from the USB stick, but since it doesn't recognize it, I believe that the process ends there...

 

Any clues on my next options?

You will not be able to get navigation to work by purchasing the navigation card, especially from ebay.

Software for the MyTouch system has to be loaded by Ford to enable the navigation. Plus there are security measures on the nav card if it is a copy and not an original Ford card it will not even work on a car which has the nav enabled.

I copied some of my iTunes library onto a USB stick and it works well. There are some little quirks like it insisting on alphabetizing songs in an album, etc.

I did upgrade my iOS to version 4.1 yesterday. It appears to have fixed my problems with killing the USB ports when plugging in my iPhone.

Maybe it is a setting tied to the key and it defaults to blue until it determines which key is being used.

It is not possible right now. But if/when an upgrade kit is released it will require a dealer installation to enable the system.

This problem is related to Apple iOS 4. It is not unique to the new my touch.

Supposedly the recently released ios 4.1 has a fix for the USB disable issue. I have not yet tested it since I always have a hard time loading updates om my 3GS.

Related to this topic is it a good idea to do the first oil change early following the break in period?

Ford should put a reboot button next to the master reset so that we can trigger reboots instead of pulling fuses.

We just took delivery of our 2011 Ford Edge and picked up a set of stock Ford all weather floor mats for the vehicle. When we installed the driver's side floor mats, we noticed that there are two pegs sticking up out of the foor board for the regular foor mats, which has corresponding two holes to accomodate the pegs; however the all weather floor mat for the driver's side only has ONE hole. The floor mat lays over the top of the right hand peg.

 

Has anyone else noticed this? The dealer double checked the part number for our mats and assures us that they are for a 2011 Ford Edge, but I think that either the local dealer parts guy is wrong, or that Ford goofed on the all weather mats for the 2011 Ford Edge Limited. :wacko:

I ordered the all weather mats option with my Edge SEL and they have two holes. They also have the EDGE logo molded into them. They should be able to order the correct mats for you.

Would a non Nav equipped vehicle have the required GPS needed in order for it to work? Just guessing but I expect the SD card only has the maps and such.

The Sync TDI on non nav equipped cars is using Gps guidance so it appears they already have the gps on board. I was told at my dealer service dept that ford has not released an upgrade yet.

I received mixed answers, too. I thought I could just order the SD card since I had My Ford Touch. 2 sales guys told me no, so I ordered my Edge with it from the factory. It just came in yesterday and the salesman told me that it can be added after the car was built. Not that it mattered because they didn't have anything in stock with what I wanted.

I checked with my dealer. I didn't want the leather seats on my SEL that were required to get the Nav. They eventually found out that currently Ford is not offering this as an upgrade but they thought that Ford is considering offering in in the future. They saw the SD card available (replacement) for around $300. However, that will not be usable until Ford decides to release an upgrade option. FYI, when they do I believe it will only require a software update to the MyTouch system. The software package for Navigation is not loaded. If I look at my system where it shows the software versions the Navigation software lines are there but the version numbers are blank.

I am considering adding the Remote start system. Fordaccessories.com has recently added the OE Remote Start for the 2011 Edge. The kit consists of an antenna, cable extension for the antenna, 2 new integrated fob keys with the remote start button on them and you also need a switch kit for the hood, $239 per the website w/o installation. Per the instructions everything plugs right into the car. Even though I didn't get it from the factory the wiring harness is already in place to add it. Once its installed the instructions say that the Ford techs have to plug the car up on the IDS system, which is Ford's Laptop based diagnostic system. When they plug this in they have to enable remote start. That portion of the instructions are pasted in below.

29. Verify that the IDS is updated to the most current version.

30. Connect IDS.

• Follow the prompts to select new vehicle session.

• Enter VIN.

31. Activate the remote start using the IDS.

• Select the Tool Box icon.

• Select Body.

• Verify that the information on the IDS screen is correct and all procedures have been followed.

• Select Yes. This will enable the remote start function on the vehicle.

I am thinking that the Navigation upgrade if and when they release it will be very similar to this upgrade.

I'm not sure I would get the nav upgrade anymore however because I think the TDI directions are probably good enough.

It only sends your destination address to the Sync Traffic, Directions and Information cloud server. It does not send the google maps directions to your car. When you get in the car and choose sync services it asks you if you want to use the address sent as your destination. From then on it operates in the same way it would if you had just spoken an address in your car.

I have had my Mediterranean Blue MKX for two days now and have been playing with the settings. I would like to have the MyLincolnTouch screen start with the navigation screen displayed when I start the car, which would be as it was when I turned the car off. The owners manual refers to a "custom user profile" for the system which would be saved with the memory buttons with the seat, mirror, etc. I watched the DVD and it also mentions a custom profile available in the menu area. I cannot find that option or any way to set up a default display. When I start the car, the display shows all four MyTouch areas and I have to select the navigation each time.

If you look at page 4 and 5 of the MyFord MyLincoln Touch manual it shows how to customize the home screen. It offers three options and it does not look like having the navigation screen display is one of them. Click the homescreen button, the house icon on MyTouch. Click it again and the customization choices will show. 1. Is to display your uploaded wallpaper as the default. 2. Is to display the standard 4 corners selection and 3. is to choose your own custom shortcuts. I haven't found anywhere yet to set it to Navigation on startup. It also mentions that everytime the car is started the 4 corners display will show briefly before switching to your choice.

I am an Admin on a couple of other car forums and one thing perplexes me about this forum. Why is it that older threads simply seem to vanish and that there is only one page of threads in this section? I've only been around here for a short time, but why do threads not get pushed to a second page, third page, etc? Am I missing something?

There is a filter bar at the bottom of the forum page in black. If you click on it you can change the filter settings so you will see more of the posts. It took me a while to figure that out myself when I first came here.

EDIT: Click on the filter bar from the main 2011 Edge Forum to set it to see more topics. The default is active 1 day back. You can set it to remember your choice.

I checked on this with my dealer yesterday. The part above is a replacement card, $220 usd. At this time you must order nav from factory. My salesman eventually found in his training docs that an upgrade option will be offered in the future. What future means was not quantified.

And no - I have no idea why he calls it that. I also cannot believe that a hood prop rod would snap in half for no reason.

Earlier he said that it was the bracket that holds the hood prop rod at the grill area that broke. That sounds like a material flaw in the bracket to me. Also I think it was mentioned somewhere in the thread that Ford knew about the problem. Hopefully they've got it fixed when mine gets built in a week or so.
