  1. Thanks for the info.  I just picked up a 2022 Ford Edge SEL this morning (my 5th).  I ordered the vehicle and never realized that Ford took the foot activated lift gate out of the Convenience package, which incidentally went from $835.00 in 2009 to $1295.00 in 2022.  My dealer didn’t pick this up either and I am not happy with them.   I make a decent amount of deliveries in foul weather and foot activated lift gate was super useful for me.  I would pay Ford to add it if that were an option.  In the meantime it really tarnished the experience of picking up my new vehicle.

  2. Here is what I added to kind of round up the color matching. Waiting for my LED's to come in to get the cupholders finished. Doing an ambient lighting mod for the front, cups and the rear also. Should be very similar to the ford ambient light kit but for a great deal less money.

    Hey Livin,

Awesome job! I guess you matched the trim colors with the exterior paint color of your Edge. I have the Titanium White so I'm not sure I would get the same dramatic effect. I am still waiting on my ambient light kit for 3 weeks now. Let me know if you get yours and I will do the same.

  3. Thanks for the post. That is good to know. My Edge was just five weeks old when it was caught in a rare hailstorm just outside of Philadlphia PA. I had about 50 dents when the storm was over; mostly on the roof and hood. The rear spoiler must be plastic of fiberglass; not one dent there.

This is the same system that they are going to use for my repair. It is still a $3800.00 estimate but at least they won't have to mess with my White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat paint.

  4. Holy highway robbery. 270 dollars?? Please say it aint so.

Anyway this should be a breeze to install I dont see it being more than a couple wires. I am doing the same thing to my Edge and I ordered my LED's and resistors with wiring of 12 bux.

When you get it post pics and I can try to offer you some install help.

Enjoy and welcome to the forum man.

Thanks for the response; will do. I am waiting for the Edge to come back from having hail storm damage repaired. I owned it only 5 weeks when that happened. Believe it or not at $270.00 (I did a little better through a friend) these kits are on backorder! The Escape Limited the insurance company gave me as a loaner has ambient lighting so I have had a chance to see and use the accessory first hand. It is defintiely a much less complex than I was imagining. With your apparent knowledge in electronics your strategy seems the far better way to go. I can't see myself using more than one or two of the available colors too. I will send images of the kit contents when I finally recieve it.

  5. Hello,

I am new to the forum. I recently purchased an Edge SEL with Sync and Standard 6 CD changer. I thought the veichle was pretty dark at night (can't see the cupholders) so I purchased the Ford Interior "Ambient" Lighting Kit. I am still waiting to receive the kit, due in next week, but I want to install it myself. Has anyone on the Forum installed one of these kits? If so are there any trouble spots / difficulties that I should be made aware of?

Here is s link to the kit I purchased from Ford:http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/GfaWeb/catalog.do?prodInfo=Edge~2010~8L8Z_13E700_AA.
