  1. Got it into the dealer today. They installed a 3rd party alarm, not a ford one, which is ok with me. The antenna/button/light is part of the alarm, the blue light was flashing all the time due to a bad wire during install. They fixed the wiring, checked all connections and reprogramed the unit. The blue light is only supposed to come on when alarmed or in valet mode. The button is used for multiple systems. It can be used as an override button for going into and out of vlaet mode. If I had the disply fobs (which the edge does not have) a person could be in the car and press call and talk to the person with the display key fob.

Sorry to get everyone worked up, the dealer apologized for the mistake on the install and no documentation. Got a tank of gas for my time.

  2. Hi Splitpi (love the screen name!). :D If you mean to download or use for free, I do not know of any reliable websites hosting that service.

If you Google "Ford Edge Shop Manuals" and scroll through the offerings, you will find some sites that offer very inexpensive prices to download the Manual (I found one for $4.99). You can give that a try. I will not list the names of any of the sites, as I have not tried them. Also, since I do not know how reliable or safe they may be, I am not endorsing any particular site.

Going the more traditional route, the Shop Manuals are also available for purchase online at various legitimate seller sites. A quick Google found 3 sellers offering the Edge/MKX Shop Manual on Ebay. There are also the regular sellers like Haynes (haynes.com) who offer shop manuals for all types of vehicles as a business.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

If you go to this motorcraft service website Motorcraft Service

You can order a service manual, or subscribe to one to get information.

  3. My Wife requested that the Ford Alarm be installed during the purchase. She did not get a book with it. It uses the Ford all in one key/key fob that now comes with the Edge instead of the two piece key and fob on a key ring.

I have not had time to play with it cause she is off having fun with the Edge. I am going to the dealer next week to get the book on the alarm (so I will know whos it is) and I will let everyone know the manufacturer.

I apologize that I forgot to say we had the alarm installed

  4. [Talked to the dealer last night. The antenna is for the alarm. The blue light is for alarm activity. So they dont drill a hole in the dash anymore for the activity light.

Need to go get the manual and have the alarm checked. Most alarms I have had in cars, the light goes out when disarmed. This one keeps flashing.

  5. We were looking for a car that would fit 4 people comfortably, tow 2 jetskis, and keep my wife happy. Her old car was a Mustang convertable. She loved the openess when the top was down for driving. The BAMR the Edge has gave her that feeling enough to want one. For me I fit in the Edge much better than the mustang, plus it is eaiser to get in and out of.

  6. look on the backside of it... is there a manufacturers name or any markings?

do you have the Homelink garage door openers built into your visor? do you have any after-market stereo head unit/equipment?

there is definitely more to this story than we have...

No Aftermarket stereo's Factory Navigation installed, Homlink on the visor. The device is stuck hard the the windshield, so I cant get it off to check for a manufacturer. Still havent heard from the dealer yet.

It is 2008 Edge Limited AWd

  7. EDIT - I was replying at the same time as Lex, so I did not see his reply above. But as you can see by my post, we both seem to have arrived at the same conclusion.

Hi Bill. :D Are you sure that is not some sort of aftermarket add-on? I do not recall seeing that on a factory vehicle. Of course, I could be mistaken, but it just looks added on and does not look like a factory installed item.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

The Edge had 27 miles on it when the wife drove it off the lot. I have a call into the dealer. One thing that came to mind is it could be the dealers lot alarm system that they forgot to take off. I have pressed the call button and nothing happens.

As soon as I find out what it is I will let everyone know.

  8. Just got my wife a 2008 Edge Limited this weekend. She is loving the Edge so far, but what distracts her at night is the blue blining light from above the rear view mirror. It looks like the blue tooth antenna, cause there is also a call button on it.

I was thinking that light should go out after a while but it does not.

Any ideas why it blinks forever?

    Thanks

    Bill
