  1. Some 2011 Edge and MKX vehicles may experience various concerns with MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch Systems that include the following areas: Traffic, Direction and Information (TDI) calling wrong phone number, Travel Link subscription, voice recognition, phone pairing, address book downloads, intermittent touch screen inoperable conditions, SD card fault, screen reboots, performing system maintenance, navigation set in kilometers/voice communicates in miles, and reverse camera scrolling display. To correct these conditions the APIM will need to be reprogrammed.

There you go.... Call up your dealer and have a field day!

  2. Early ford systems on windstars used the abs speed sensor signals to measure tire pressures. The sensors are said to last the life of the vehicle.

They cost $50 a piece at the dealer and if you replace a rim you get a big hose clamp for an easy $50 dollars too.

Cheap technology when compared to the technology of the hose clamp?

  3. Also the wrench light is just for TB and Trans concerns. So your husband might be onto something with it being trans related. The lack of power you have had when it happens is the car going into limp home mode. It does this to help prevent damage to components while not leaving you stranded.

  4. Sometimes when the wrench light comes on it wont store a code. There will be a code but its only an active code. Once you turn off the car, there is a possibility there will not be one stored. I suggest to take it in when the light is on at least to read and record the code. If they still cant find anything, call Ford customer support and see if they can get the process moving. This should be a last resort though due to it making the dealer look bad. But I think it will really help them if you bring it in with the wrench light on.

  5. there is a tsb for rear wheel bearings failing. It involves replacing the offending wheel bearing and the knuckle. I just did one at work today. Its a bit of a pain. If its all wheel drive you can raise all the wheels off the ground, turn off traction control, and run the vehilce around 40 and go back and forth listening to each side to see which side is causing it. Or you can take it to the dealership if its under warranty

  6. I think it would look very tacky. If you were going to do it, look for a hood that has it built in(if there is one) Those would have the best chance at looking decent due to the hood scoop flowing into the hood. But like I said I think it would be very tacky.

  7. YES I HAVE A 2010 AWD SEL 12K ON IN STALLING AT ALMOST EVERY LIGHT! FUNNY HOW THE DEALER SAID IT WONT STALL ON THEM! AFTER HAVING IT THERE 3 TIMES THEY SAID IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY BUT HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS TO GET THE PART! ONLY 12 THOUSAND MILES!!!

You have to understand. Ford used this TB on all edges and the taurus's, fusions, escapes and various others. Not to mention they had a big supply for parts. To find a widespread problem like this is a big deal. They have to source a new manufacturer and get them to produce these TB's FAST! All the while they are taking a growing world wide list of backorders of tb's. So when they say you will have to wait 2 Weeks, that is the honest truth.

Yes the car is only 12,000 miles old but you cant fix a bad part with no part...

  8. I am a ford technician and can tell you that ford for sure says to turn the rotors over replacing them. The only time you replace them is if they are at minimum machinable. Ford has also got a special service message about them sitting too long and getting a brake pulsation. Ford says to go out and really use the brakes hard to clean them off. If that doesnt work then you are supposed to continue with normal diag.

I personally dont buy into the turning of the rotors. Maybe once at most but after that the time between getting good and getting a pulsation just starts decreasing.

  9. If I had to guess you had some winterblend fuel in there. Has it only been this tank? Winterblend fuel and warm temps equal flooding. When a engine floods the gas washes the cylinders of oil and you lose compression(somewhat drastically) If it happens again try holding the pedal wide open throttle why cranking, this will disable the injectors and clear the engine of fuel.

    Thats my 2 cents.

  10. There must be someway to make the instrument lighting it's brightest all the time. The change in brightness to dim makes it impossible to see. Even in bright daylight if the lights were at their brightest they would be easier to see. Couldent the module for them be overridden somehow?

Simply put, no. The GEM/SJB doesnt have a setting for brightness when lights are on. The IC has no option either. One option that would work would be to find out how it dims it and apply the opposite of what its applying. The only problem is that then your gauge lights wouldnt turn on.

Why do you really need to be looking at the message center while driving anyway?

  11. Hello I am a ford technician and just bought an edge. I saw some posts of people complaining that the low tire pressure light comes on a very low pressures. The scan tool has the ability to change the target pressure(but only up) So if you can figure out when it comes on I can try raising the target PSI by about that much(keep in mind it only goes by 5's)

Hope I can contribute some to this site!
