  1. I have an 07 MKX and I'm wanting to re-grease the moonroof tracks due to some noise Im receiving just prior to a complete close. It sounds like some friction/vibration is in the track. My question is, does anyone know the type of factory grease that is used in these MKX/Edge moonroofs. I understand improper grease is BAD. So I want to make sure I use the correct spec. Any help would be great. Thanks.

  2. LOL because I was thinking you should go first :)

It's looking doubtful that I'll try this fall. I'm thinking this may be more of a spring project. However if/when I try I'll be back w/ information & pictures.

Cool, and if I decide to do anything with this before then I'll check back and let you know how it goes.

  3. Yeah, I was thinking about the possibility of swapping out the entire trim also as a 'worst case scenerio'. Wouldn't like the idea of the total cost though.

Here are pics from a '07, '08 and '09. The '07 and '08 are easeir to compare since they were taken from close to the same angle (black seats = '07 & tan seats = '09). The '08 pic is the one you can see the door. If they're not the same size then they're really close - but like you said the only possitive way is to personally compare.

Thanks for the link to the cheaper sills.

Nice work on those shots. Yeah, I don't know for sure, but those sills all look pretty comparable. I think it could be a safe bet getting those to fit without any problems. I think you should buy them first and let me know how it all works out. Haha.

  4. I thought that picture looked bigger also but if you look at the installation guide it does look like it's smaller (though it is a drawing).

What I found (and I would suggest double checking everything) is that the part numbers for the oem sill area are the same from 07-09 (I didn't check 2010). Therefore unless there's a total curve ball anywhere, the illumated sill should, in theory, work ok.

Also if you look at the pics for all the years you'll see the oem sill plate is the same size/style.

My guesses are: Either there could be a slight wiring difference where the installer would have to think outside the box to get hooked up, or the oem sill was redesigned in '08 & the part guides only list the redesign part number for all years.

If I get serious I'll pull the sill area and sill if the metal plate is clipped in per the installation instructions. I would prefer to find someone w/ an '08 and pull to compare but I don't have that option.

Yeah, I think the best way to confirm this is to do a direct comparision side by side with our 07' MY, to an 08' or 09' MY MKX. If the sill itself is indeed bigger (longer) as pictured, maybe swapping the whole trim piece with the newer MY trim would work? Referring to the trim where the sill installs to. I can't imagine the whole trim being a different size. When maybe the sill piece might be. I dont know?

oh by the way, I found it a bit cheaper here...

  5. I found the installation instructions here: http://www.lincolnaccessories.com/GfaWeb/techSpecs.do

    Then enter:

    Selet Type = Installation Instructions

Select Description = Interior (sills) or Electronics (light kit)

Choose Catagory = Trim (sills) or Lamps, Lights, and Treatments -- Truck (light kit)

You can see the parts by clicking on 'Home' and using the selection process to find the accessory you want. I used the model year of '09 instead of '07. The bad news is I haven't been able to find any quality pics of an install or final product so it's really hard to determine if it's worth the $.

Do you know for sure that the 09 illuminated sills will be an exact fit for our 07? I'm just scared on it fitting correctly. The DIY installation file was labeled as MY 2008 too!? Just want to confirm that the sills are universal from 07-10.

My 'Lincoln' sill looks smaller than the illuminated sill pictured on the site. hmm

  6. I think I have my answers. I found the installation instructions for both the illuminated sills & the interior lighting kit. From what I can tell they can both be installed in the '07 MKX.

If/when I install I'll come back and post information & pics for future reference.

    Hey there,

Where did you find these at? I saw this thread and did a little searching and cant locate that part number or any instructions for installation. Can you post some links of where you found these. Also any pictures or anything like that. I'd like to install something like that too on my 07 MKX. Thanks.

  7. I was told by a guy I work with that Griot's Garage, Paint Sealant (www.griotsgarage) is a must have for a daily driver vehicle. I recently got a MKX and he recommended their products to me. They have a pretty good website and they claim, as does my co-worker that the paint sealant holds prestige for a whole year. I myself typically would do it twice a year, but to each their own. Worth a check out. I just heard about them today. I'll probably be ordering some stuff from there.

  8. Hey thanks to everyone for chiming in with their opinions. We all have a right to our own. I was simply seeking information on a burning process of a torrent and wondering if successfully burning a newer nav software was possible. I was also asked to report back, which I did. These forums are typically filled with all walks of life and each has their own viewpoints on different issues. Honestly, I don't really care if you find me right or wrong, I didnt start this thread for any other reason than inquiring information related to our vehicles... I don't believe in abortion, that doesnt mean I'm going to blast people who do. Nor am I going to be swayed to think differently.

I too am done posting in this thread, because pointless arguing is a waste of time. I'd rather be doing other things, like downloading movies. I hope inception pops up soon. That movie rocked.

  9. you wouldn't steal a car... so why would you steal a movie?!...

sorry got caught up in that anti-piracy video that I'm forced to sit through while watching all of my legitimately purchased DVDs....

Stealing! haha, right... Good for you upstanding citizens and your ethical stand!... What should be illegal is selling a dvd based nav update (which new ones comes out every year or so) for $199. Give me a break! How is that justifiable? Pardon me for not being sympathetic to the fat wallet industry heads crying about piracy.

I just hope I can find the 9p update soon. I had to settle for 8p.

  10. I recently bought a 07 MKX with factory navigation. That model year has the 4p map disc. Upon scowering the internet, I've discovered that there are maps updated to 9p now. I'm also a avid torrent downloader and found the ford/lincoln/mercury 8p map pack. My question is, has anyone downloaded these torrent files and successfully burned and got them to work in their vehicles. I don't know how to successfully burn these files. I know they have to be dual layered due to the size of the files, but other than that, I'm not very burn savvy. Anyone who has successfully accomplished this feat please enlighten me on how to properly burn the files and get them to read correctly in the factory unit. Thanks a lot.

  11. I wanted to get another key remote for my new Ford Edge, but noticed how they were so expensive when purchased through the dealership. I did some research and found this store on eBay that sells them for about $50. I thought that I would give it a shot and ordered one. Once I had it, I brought it to my local hardware store and got the key cut. Once that’s done, there’s a section in the manual that explains how to program your key remote. They make it sound very complicated, but it really only takes a minute or two to do it and it’s quite easy. It worked right away and I haven’t had any problems. Here is the link to the eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/THE-REMOTE-KEYLESS-ENTRY-STORE

Did everything work once it was programmed (all buttons and lift gate)?
