  1. lol.....wow, I guess I am probably the only one with a bottom of the line Edge........lol. I love it though! Yes, mine has a trip odometer.........very easy to reset just push and hold a button..... and getting accurate information for mpg is a snap, I just use my calculator. lol.

Mine doesn't even say SE..........it came out before they added that! Mine has extras in the lighting area possibly........I have auto on and off headlights......that is one feature I wouldn't be without.

  2. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I have had my creme brule', aka tan, 2007 Edge for four days and was racking my feeble brain as to what the rectangular pieces in the accessory package were.

    NOW I KNOW!!!!!

Door pulls! How simple could I be?

    Paul

we did the same thing......I think the door pulls rubber strips weren't installed at the dealership because they had NO IDEA where they went! LOL

  3. You will see me in town from time to time in my Berry colored Edge........I love it! I am sure you will too. We live out 40 miles southwest of KC but I come to town about once a week........

Enjoy your new Edge. I am seeing more and more of them. I bought mine in July and love it. I get about 21 mpg just normal in town and hiway miles.

  4. We have just over 4,000 miles on our edge now.....making around 21.6 hiway/city driving. haven't done a road trip again since it was really young.....but happy with that mileage......now if we can make that 27 on the hiway, we will be very happy. Our former buick made 30 and our suburban made 15 so it was a compromise........and the 21.6 is nice, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fill it up!

  5. I have pretty much a basic SE. I went from a loaded Suburban to this...........I had everything on it. that being said, I don't really miss the moon roof I had.......I live in the country, so I didn't have the opportunity to open it as much as I would if I were in town for sure.........so, I didn't get one. The only thing I added to mine was the lighting group. I would REALLY miss that if I didn't have it on a vehicle. The only thing I have found I REALLY miss from my suburban is a switch in the back end to lock/unlock all the doors with the hatch open. I do miss that. I like the push button entry system though........

After driving a Suburban for 5 years........backing up with this is a dream.........I have SO much more room to manuever! LOL...........

So, I guess, for me, it is the light group.........lol. I don't even miss my leather seats much. I do alittle........I have to be honest. I miss the wipeability of them.

I would get leather in the next one, but I already know I can add it to mine at any time for about $1300, so that may be my option. They tell me they look even better than factory seats when you have it done. I saw someone had gotten 2 tone put in on the gallery page........I think I would opt for that possibly like the new 2008 limited.

  6. No wonder you added an alarm system! I would say it is a good thing that ladies ring didn't scratch YOUR Edge! Wouldn't you think someone would have more courtesy than to try that out on YOUR new car if that was really the case.........they probably wanted to look inside! GO to a DEALER! LOL.........that is what I probably would have said in a rather rude tone. Then I might have found a skillet! ha. :finger:

  7. I went with the FWD. Haven't had any problems getting around KC in my FWD '01 Taurus. Figured with the heavier/higher profile Edge that I would get around even better.

We went with the FWD as well. We live in the country, but have a 4 wheel drive truck if need it and have never had any problems getting around with a FWD....so, i opted for the better gas mileage. Currently getting over 20 mpg combined city, hiway. liking that. So Far, thrilled with my edge.....

  8. My Edge has a shudder when brakeing ie: above 45mph mostly, it shakes the steering wheel and just doesn't seem to be right. I don't know if its the ABS or what the problem is. :stop:

Ours had the same thing and they SAID it came from the car sitting on the lot or factory or wherever.....basically surface rust on the rotors and they turned them. It seemed to fix it. Said it would not shorten the life of the brake rotors at all. that was the story on ours.....

    hope this helps you.

  9. Mine's finally going in to replace the sunpanel on Tuesday. I'm going to find out where mine are!

I knew something wasn't right with the cup holders...

LOL...we picked ours up and the cupholder rubber pieces and the rubber piece for the little cubby were in place....but the little rubber pieces for the door pulls were in a bag....I don't think the dealer knew what they were for and it took me quite a while to figure it out!

Glad I didn't throw them away like I started to.....

    LOL

  10. While I might agree that Ford should make the cargo management "system" (using the work "system" liberally), the sad fact is they didn't. I seriously doubt Ford's gonna do anything for you. Your dealer may, though, if they failed to explain what this option was prior to your order. Your dealer may offer an oil change or something....

If you financed the dealer-installed cargo management system, at $250....this means what...another $5/month?

What does this system look like and where does it go? I have something by my spare tire......but it wasn't on the list of options......I am wondering if I have one though.

    thanks.

  11. As to the topic at hand....Do all you complainers have Edges made before Jan. 07 of this year?? (sour6116, no need to answer)....Mine was made Feb. 18, and I have absolutely no complaints about anything at all. The odometer just turned 12,500 miles, the air blows as cold as sour6116's heart, no complaints about blower force (I refrain from the crude, but accurate remark I could make about the sour one)...nothing has fallen apart, come loose, turned color....no rattles, shakes, or malfunctions.....maybe the forum(s) just attract people that just like to find fault and complain (ahem...sour6116), I don't know.....

My AC blows pretty good.......my hubby doesn't think so though. We had it checked and they added refrigerant. The biggest thing we notice, if the glove box is open, the air blows better. The glove box blocks the a/c flow apparently.........think they should fix that.

  12. Welcome to the forum. I have my first ford product in a long time. The last one we had was a new Ford Explorer......when they were the new thing on the block. We had the first one in Kansas City back then! Anyway, I was looking at a Chevy Equinox and my hubby drove the Edge one day when I wasn't with him and he was at the dealership. Honestly, I LOVE my Edge! I went from a Suburban to the Edge and have not regretted it at all. My hubby is a Chevy man, and so every little thing he tends to find wrong....but that is ok. I am VERY happy! If there was one thing I would change in the design..........at least in mine, if I open the glove box the a/c works better! I don't know why.......I am going to ask the dealership.

    again, welcome to the forum.

My husband and I got in a discussion this morning. Is the light for the "passenger air bag off" supposed to stay on or off??

Ours goes off, but it is off if no one is in the passenger seat or someone is in it. It would seem to me that the light should stay on if no one is in the seat. If my 90 lb daughter sits in the passenger seat, the light isn't on either and I would think it would come on.........if the airbag is disabled.

I hope this question makes sense....I tried to find the info in the book.....but couldn't seem to find it. Someone else will probably find the answer right away! lol.

thanks for your help on this. I just want to be sure if I haul a child in the front seat by necessity sometime that they are working right.

  14. Does anyone know if you can change the function of the controls on the steering wheel? I would much rather be able to control the seek of text buttons on the radio as opposed to the temp or fan.

I can use the seek function with the same button that goes to the chosen radio stations....just hold it down longer and it goes into seek. I hope that makes sense......

  15. Just received our new SEL Edge. We ordered it with all the options my wife wanted. She does not like leather, so of course it limits what you can get. She really loves everything except... even with all the info provided in the "Info Center" there is no External Temperature Display.

She has had this for years in her Explorers either in the mirror or in the display on the dash and really, really misses it. It appears the only way it would have been available was via ordering the Electronic Climate control, which adds leather.. thus no deal.

Sooo I was thinking of adding the HomeLink/Temp/Compass mirror the Mito makes, same one available from "Ford Accessories". My concern is wondering what happens to the compass reading in the Info Center? Had anyone considered adding one of these?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Our Edge doesn't have the external temp either......I asked the dealer and they said they could change out my existing rear view mirror and put one in with the temp on there for around $350 I think they said.

  16. Hi there, I was reading your post and I was shocked that this happens, this is the first time I have heard that the dash board or any plastic painted. If this is true, we are all in big trouble. I am still waiting for my Edge to be delivered, black exterior and camel interior. I am very concerned about the glare and now this??!! I don't know what I am going to do.. How bad is your glare issue?

I always clean some spots with windex or mild cleaner and this is the first time I have heard of this happening.

Keep me informed as to what they are going to do about it.

PS hope this is not a cheap trick from Ford, this is our first Ford and if it is, not a good way to try and gain customers.

This sounds like something the 'staff' on here should address. :redcard:

  17. Yes, I have my AC on all the time; I live in Arizona. I started off by getting about 18 to 20 MPG. I don't know how much the AC affects the MPG, but I do know for a fact that it does. Another thing I noticed is that when the vehicle is left in park while idling, you can almost see the fuel gauge move. My fuel economy improved noticeably at about 4000 miles. My transmission also seemed it needed a brake in. It seems to run a lot better. It always finds the optimum gear, when not accelerating or at a slight acceleration, to maintain the lowest RPM's at the needed torque to maintain the current speed. I can go 45 MPH and maintain that speed at 1100 RPM's. I can even go up slight inclined hills and maintain speed and RPM. BTW, I just returned from my complimentary 5000 mile oil change. So, I think my Edge is officially broken in. Just be nice to your baby and it will be nice to you!

This is encouraging! Our Edge is making combined city/hiway about 18-20 mpg right now. We have about 500 miles on it. we went on a trip last weekend and it made 24 mpg mostly highway. we were pleased. We traded our 2002 Suburban and our 2000 Buick (our 3rd car) for it. Our Suburban made 15-16 no matter what we did and our Buick made 27 mpg highway. So if our Edge continues to improve as yours did we will be thrilled. PLUS I LOVE driving the Edge.......no more big truck to park for me! :shift:
