  1. As of yesterday I noticed that the horn on my 2011 Ford Edge Limited sounds really weak. It used to be louder but now it sounds weak or like a little boy that hasn't hit puberty :). Also, the horn sound is coming from the passenger side engine area. Is a horn also located on the driver side or is it just the passenger side?

    Any ideas? Has anyone experienced this problem?

  2. I noticed a couple months ago that the HVAC temperature does not seem to work or mix the hot and cold. I brushed it off my shoulders until today when I was on a 4+ hr car ride. It was cold outside so I put the heat on but it obviously got too hot so I put the temperature down to around 75 degrees (from HI) and the temp was still the same. I continued to lower the temp until i got to 65 degrees and it was still blazing hot. If i shut the HVAC off the turn it back on then the temp would cool down.

     

    AC works fine, Heat works fine but there is no in between... Has anybody else noticed this or hear of this happening before?

  3. I am currently at 2,750 miles on my Edge. My dealer stated that the oil should be changed every 3,000. I was reading the manual and it says 10,000 mile oil change intervals. I was wondering what everybody is doing with their edges? Should I change my oil at 3,000 or at 10,000?

  4. That was the hardest part of the whole installation..deciding where to mount. I promised myself that I would not drill into any part of the vehicle (except the headlamp dust covers), thus my mounting probably isn't the best but I can remove the system if I ever need to very easily. I mounted the passenger side ballast just to the side of the headlight fixture (mounted vertically against the front of the truck)..its mounted with two sided tape with the mounting bracket removed. The other ballast I used one ot the screws from the air cleaner duct and mounted it horizantally..its not the best installation but doesn't look that bad. The relay and capactor are mounted using two sided tape along the fender wall right in front of the fuse box..i wire-tied everything together to clean it up.

    Where were your grounds? Did you go straight to the battery or did you drill anywhere?

  5. I purchased the 55w, 6000K setup from Todd at Retrosolutions and installed them this past weekend. I am very happy with the lighting. What an incredible difference from the stock lighting. I had an issue with the capacitor and contact Todd, who immediately put a new one in the mail for me. Waiting for it now..in the meantime I am able to temporarily run the system without it (no DRL's)..love the lighting.

     

    Where did you mount the ballasts and relay?

  6. I just got back from the dealer and unfortunately I had to leave my car at the dealer once again. The service department was closed so I was just given my keys from one of the salesman. I got in my car extremely anxious to test out the new update and see how much "snappier" it is. I turned on my car and IT ACTUALLY TURNED ON. After noticing a slight speed improvement (not perfect, but NOT BAD) I was quite pleased. Unfortunately when I went to turn on my nav to go home, all I got was "SYNC APPS" so I thought it was a new feature but it wasn't. I tried resetting the SD card, turning on and off the car but to no avail it wouldn't turn on! After finding that NAV was not working, my Ambient light is not working as well. I didnt notice any difference in quality of the backup camera tho, it looked the same. Maybe I just need to clean the lense. So I left my car there and hopefully it will be resolved by tomorrow.

     

    I am currently driving a 2010 Edge SEL as a loaner and I really miss my 2011 limited!

  7. I just brought my car in for service this morning. Dealer said it would be about 2 hrs, they gave me a loaner because I had to go to work. I KNEW it wouldnt just take 2 hrs. Long story short, I get a call from the dealer at around 5pm and they said they successfully updated the system and everything looks good. they wanted to hold my car overnight because I brought up thinking that the reason my SCREEN wouldnt turn on was because it was cold out (after around 40 min the screen would turn on). Dealer said they are going to keep the car outside over night and test it in the morning, I was totally cool with that.

     

    Anyway, after looking at syncmyride.com, It looks like I have the BE update. BUT It also looks like I never received the BD update. I am wondering if it is possible to skip directly from AJ to BE. Below is my update history:

  8. well since you have a 2011 Edge you have projectors so you wont get any scatter. The Bulb size is a HIR2 which is essentially a 9006 bulb with a smaller tab (very very similar) From personal experience i used the DDM tuning kit and the bulb went in with minimal modification (very light sanding). Slim ballast this is you to you. a normal sized ballast can fit as well but if you feel comfortable with a slim one then go for that. One thing you need will be a relay harness (about $20-$30 depending what site you go to) ddmtuning.com has very good kits you should check them out as well as the other sites that you mentioned.

     

    Im about to put in my HID's. just trying to figure out where ppl mount the ballasts, where did you mount your ballasts?

  9. A $149 aftermarket head unit and a pair of $69 front speakers and you'll think otherwise lol but glad you like it!

     

    Since you are not getting the SONY System. the sound will be average at best. The SONY 12 Speaker system really does sound crisp and clear. Although, the bass does not hit all that hard compared to my JL Audio 12W7in my last car, I am quite please with the quality in my Limited. (ALTHOUGH I havent been able to listen to it much because the damn MFT dont turn on)

  10. We have had our 2011 Ford Edge for less than a week, and are still just learning how to use it. Today, when backing out of the driveway the rearview camera did not come on. We did notice on the left side of the instrument panel it says something about Active Park Assist, yes or no. We have no idea what this is, it is set to yes. We could have easily accidentally set something and turned the camera off ourselves, but we don't even know enough to know if we did that! I went into Vehicle settings and it looks like everything is okay, but when we put it in reverse, the display on the mytouch just stays the same, it doesn't switch to camera.

     

    On the Actually NAV screen, go to menu, then click vehicle settings, there is an option to enable/disable to rearview camera

  11. The reboot has not stopped in my Edge since I got it on Thursday. I had to do an 8 hour road trip with it yesterday and it constantly rebooted itself with the "performing scheduled system maintenance" prompt. It was especially annoying when I needed to use the Navigation for directions to a specific place. Pulling fuse #29 hasn't done anything to improve the situation either. :(

     

    Canuck, although I have not had the same problem you are having, I'm having other issues with the screen not turning on at all. I did notice that a simple fuse pull, sitting out for 5 min does not work. Try pulling the fuse and let it sit for 30-60 min and see what happens. If I pull the fuse for 30+min it starts to work everytime.

     

    I just don't get it, I tooK delivery on Nov 16 and have had issues since day 1. I feel as if the recently delivered edges are experiencing more "critical" issues than others who have taken delivery earlier. I mean it's been 2 weeks and I may have only gotten a good 4-5 uses with the MFT. 90% of my driving is without the MFT and NO AUDIO! I've been using iHeart Radio for my music on my iPhone lol. I almost want a loaner car from my dealer until Ford engineering fixes this issue.

  12. Bummed! I went out to the Edge this morning and the battery was dead. As I'm setting up the charger to try and salvage it my neighbor tells me when he got home he saw my interior glowing. Asked if I left my interior lights on? So apparently my nightlight fordtouch went all night till the battery gave up. What surprised me most was that there's no battery saver technology built in. Just so bummed out right now.

     

     

    Actually there is "battery saver technology". I was in my edge the other night getting to learn the system with the car on but not actually running and burning gas. After about 15-20 minutes I got a pop up on the nav say system will be shut down due to low battery, then it had like a loading bar and it started to shutdown. I was quite impressed. Although I have gotten that white screen issue and I think the reason why it doesnt shut down is because sync doesn't recognize the system and being on but the screen is just lit up.

  13. Picked it up today. Everything (that I can tell) works well except making/receiving calls from my bluetooth phone. It connects fine but the audip is scrambled garbage. Contacts and all other phone info transferred fine and signal is fine so dunno. Gonna keep working on it and see what happens. Will report on the rest as we drive it more. Reaction is decent on the screen but at times (seems like certain functions) it lags. Other times it's instant. Still crazy impressive tech.

     

    IMO I dont think you have the update we are all waiting for. Supposedly ford has put a hold on all new vehicles built from being shipped out due to this new update. Since this new update hasn't been rolled out to dealers yet it is very unlikely to be installed on vehicles in the customers possession as of yet. I just hope that ford rolls this update out soon!

  14. I'm a tech guy. I *want* to love MyFord Touch, it has so much potential and so many things it's *trying* to do right. But it is buggy as hell and there's virtually no support from Ford!

     

    The latest and most frustrating bug just started happening 2 days ago: it refuses to accept voice commands to make calls. I'll say "call So and So" like I always have, and it says "No phone is connected" even though the LCD screen shows it is connected to my iPhone, and reports signal strength and battery accurately. Also, it will receive calls through MyFord Touch just fine...if I get a call, it comes up on the screen and everything's normal. It just thinks the phone isn't connected when I try to place calls. I have deleted and repaired my phone to no avail. Mind you this is after it worked fine for a month.

     

    It's all the more frustrating because we can't get anywhere with Ford. The dealer basically says, "Huh, it shouldn't be doing that...it's a new system, we don't have a lot of experience with it yet." And despite offering owner forums on SyncMyRide, Ford itself is a black hole of non-responsiveness.

     

    Here's all the other bugs we've experienced:

     

    * Sometimes doesn’t register touches (have to press hard -- too hard)

    * Hideously slow in processing touchscreen presses

    * When a call comes in, sometimes the previous caller will show up on caller ID until after the current call is answered -- makes caller ID worthless

    * Sometimes radio preset buttons become blank

    * Directions malfunction (took us in the complete wrong direction and then quit)

    * Says things like “bear right on Cincinatti” when it should actually be “bear right on I-74”

    * Sometimes connects to the wrong (non-favorite) phone when more than one phone is present

    * Sometimes takes a long long time (15+ minutes) to connect to a phone

    * Bluetooth audio streaming won't work at all. Shows iPhone in source list, won't actually play anything when selected.

     

    Really starting to lose patience with this. What do you do? Do I demand our whole Sync computer be replaced? Wait it out for the next major update? Why does Ford not have an official way to report such bugs? I'm sure my dealer isn't communicating them accurately all the way to the Sync engineering team.

     

    As much as I hate saying this, I'd much rather have all those bugs then for the MFT to not even turn on. You are lucky because yours atleast turns on, mine doesn't!
