I recently purchased a used 2007 SEL Plus. I really like the vehicle, but noticed that the stereo is very weak and very underpowered! No bass and little mids...didn't really notice during my test drive. After doing some research it appears that the 6-disc 4 speaker stereo was standard on my SEL Plus. I however have a single disc player. I also noticed that near the right wheel well, where some Edges have a storage bin, mine has what appears to be a speaker cover. Sub-woofer maybe?? I'm wondering if my Edge originally had the 9 speaker audiophile setup and the previous owner or dealer swapped out the audiophile stereo for the single disc player. I also notice that while driving around town the other Edges all seem to have some chrome trim around some of the buttons on the stereo, mine does not. Makes me wonder if I even have a Edge stereo at all...maybe it's out of another Ford vehicle.
Is there a way to easily tell which stereo was put in at the factory? Does the Audiophile system have any amplifiers that I could easily locate? I'm thinking that if I originally had the Audiophile system, I should be able to just swap out the stereo and have a decent sounding system again.
