  1. My dealer is taking the negotiated price less COSTCO less the FINACE ALLOWANCE then applies fees and tax. This is the $ that I am financing.

Customer may use the $1,000CDN as a down payment or choose to receive a rebate cheque from Ford, but not both. Applicable taxes calculated before $1,000CDN offer is deducted.
    Costco fine print.

Directly from the ford ' s website. Looks like your dealer is giving you another $50 (based on 5%tax )in savings.

  2. I get prime less 1.75% as a variable rate

Cgoodale what bank do you deal with? I thought secured lines of credit are 1% over prime right now. That is a very good rate.

Also I thought the costco and ford credit rebates are applied after taxes? Maybe I am wrong.

I order my edge the end of september. Will be in next week .(11 WEEK DELIVERY IAM PISSED)

These are the credit I have at the time of ordering my vehicle.

$3100 employe discount before taxes.( ford promotion)

$1500 deliver fee credit before taxes. ( ford promotion)

$1000 costco discount after taxes. (costco Promotion)

$1000 ford credit discount after taxes.(ford credit promotion)

  3. Just to throw this out there.

I had a leaky input shaft seal on my manual transmission and it had nothing to do with the seals but the shimming of the differential bearings. The bearing was shimmed too tighty (from the factory) which caused the bearing to fail ( loosen) and then caused the seal to fail. Replace the seal and it would fail 6 months later because the bad bearing itself would wear seal out. I took my tranny out. Re shimmed my differial bearings (also replaced the bearings)and never had a leak or gear whine since.

Does anyone on this board have the Factory Service manual on the edge. I would like to see a Assembly/disasembly diagram or fiqure for the ptu itself. ? I would like to see if those ptu bearings are shimmed. Has anyone examined the bearings in the ptu to see if they are failing? Is there a whinning noice coming from the ptu? ( a whinng noice is a sign of bearing failure)

This may be way out there but the symtoms are kind of similar.

Also I think Fords thought process with reguards to fixing the ptu leak is based on the following statement

Serviceable components of the PTU are limited to the output shaft seal and flange, intermediate shaft seal and deflector and the input shaft seal. If any of the internal geared components, bearings or shafts are worn or damaged, a new PTU must be installed. The PTU is sealed from the transaxle and has its own oil sump

Ford does not care about fixing the ptu. Just replace the seals and if that does not work replace the ptu itself.

  4. www.eshine.ca is currently running an incredible sale on Dodo Juice carnuba wax.

    Canuck

What is the best Dodo wax for Bordeaux Reserve Red Metallic paint for the edge? Also my other car is Dark Navy blue.

Also what is the shelf life for Menzerna Power Lock Sealant? Eshine has only 32oz bottles left I do not want to buy too much and have it go to waste. Say 2 cars sealed 2 to 3 (max) times a year

  5. Ford Motor Company's brand-new family crossovers, the 2011 Ford Edge and the 2011 Lincoln MKX, are being recalled.

Only 71 vehicles in all are affected by the recall, issued earlier this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the NHTSA, some Edges and MKXs were incorrectly programmed, so that the locking liftgate is disabled.

As a result, drivers may not be able to lock the tailgate with either the lock buttons inside the car, or on the fob.

The recall will begin by November 1, 2010. Ford will make repairs for free.

Owners of the 2011 Edge and 2011 MKX can check the NHTSA's Web site for more information on the recall campaign, which carries the ID #10V516000. Owners also can call Ford directly at 1-866-436-7332 to determine if their vehicle is included in the recall.

  6. Here is Autoblogs Review of the edge. :yup:

    My link

The Ford Edge has transformed from an attractive crossover with a passable cabin to an even better looking crossover with more power, improved fuel economy and a truly state-of-the-art interior experience. Normally, that's the type of report card an automaker hopes for when executing a full redesign at the end of a model's life cycle, and Ford has somehow managed to achieve similar results with just a mid-cycle refresh. If the brand continues on this pace, customers will begin expecting every new product wearing a Blue Oval badge to surprise and delight. While not the easiest play to pull off, it's the best way to build a cheering section.

  7. To answer your question: every SEL Edge I've driven so far has the rearview camera. It comes with one of the option packages that's commonly equipped on the SEL.

    Now to rant:

Seriously? You get Driver's Entry package on the SEL in Canada?

The lack of the Driver's Entry package option on the SEL (you can only add it to the Limited) in the US was one of the biggest sticking points for us on this car. We REALLY wanted the push-button start and the convenience of not ever having to take your key out to get into and start the vehicle, but it didn't warrant the nearly $4k jump to the Limited over the SEL that was otherwise equipped the way we wanted it. Every other vehicle we drove in the segment made the push button start available at a lower price point. I'm still annoyed by it, but we love the Edge in every other way. We got a FWD SEL with 202A package (leather, MyFord Touch, backup camera).

In Canada a backup camera is only available with the Limited Version. All SELs have a back up sensor system in Canada. Only in US the back up camera is available in the SEL with the MYFord Option. Even with the MyFord & Nav option in the SEL a Back up camera is not available. It Sucks. I called ford of Canada about it to confirm.

  8. I just ordered 4 Gislaved Nordfrost 5 (17") tires with Steel wheels & TPMS sensors installed for $ 1160 CDN all in

    Taxes included too?

My Brother has a 2010 edge and has 17" steelies from his previous vehicle (Mazda Tribute). He told me they do not fit. Also the TPMS in th 2011 edge may be different from the 2010 model. You may only be able to buy the TPMS at Ford. Dam TPMS are a pain. If they provide a steely that fits your 2011/2010 edge with tires(235/65R17 XL) & TPMS that is indeed a really good deal.

Canuck that rim and tire package looks good. What do you think of a "OEM Ford TPMS Triggering Tool " for $45.00 at Tire Rack. Do you think we need that to reset the sensors?

  9. Yeah, I thought it was a decent price as well. I've got a good friend that works for Tire Rack in Indiana so I've gotta talk to him now for a better deal. :)

I've always had a dedicated winter setup and it certainly makes it easier and cheaper for the swap twice a year. I wouldn't have it any other way.

My present car has snow tires no rims. Just switched them over year after year at the garage. Did not know how long I was going to keep the car and now it is 5 yrs later and I am kicking myself. It is a real pain in thw$#^%# when you have to go to the garage to switch over tires having to get them balanced and then switch them back and balance them again. Plus it is hard on the rims. I will not be doing that this time with the edge.

I was going to get some tires priced in the burnside park (DartmouthNS - DSL Tires) and look out for some used rims. If I could not find any rims heaven forbid I would switch the tires over on my sel rims(just this once) until I could get a good deal on a set of rims. That's where the 18" tires comes into play.

$250/tire&rim is a steal. You are looking at that price for most 18" snow tires with no rims especially Blizzaks.

  10. Nice to see you over here on this forum as well. :)

I personally never bother with TPMS for my winter setups. I don't feel the added $300 or so is worth it.

Hi CanuckG35. I order my edge on Thursdays. I will look into my delivery date next week. I never though I would be excited about a getting acrossover/ SUV but I really am.

I am looking into snow tires. The only thing about the TP warning I think you have to get the dealer to reset the light. I do not believe you can reset it yourself but I hope I am wrong. I have to look more into it. I do not mind the warning light but it would be a pain in the but if I could not reset it myself . Also is there a chime involved with the warning like seatbealt warning chime? That would drive me crazy.

Are you going with 18" rims & tires? My brother has a 2010 edge and he wants to go with 17". Myself I want to go with 18". When you order from tire rack do you take a trip to the border (st Stephen) to pick them up or do you get them delivered? Guy at work in Saint John made a trip of it and saved alot for his tire package for his Santa fe.
