  1. I was having issues such as the white screen, system rebooting 3 to 4 times a day, USB not being recognized, system taking a long time to start up. I will wait a few more days before I pull fuse 29.

     

     

     

     

    Zippy did you bring it just for the update or did you have issues with MFT?

     

    My dealer called me and asked if I wanted to bring my in for an update. My works, but lags. I'm afraid I'll have other issues and dont want to make it worst.

  2. Hello all. I finally conceded and went to the dealer and got the Sync 2 update and am not happy that I did it. Driving off the lot after the update, MFT rebooted itself 3 times and lost connection with my phone numerous times. Next day, MFT wouldn't connect at all. I called Ford Customer Service and was told to do a Master Reset on the Sync system and a soft reset on my phone. This process worked for 3 days and now it's happening again. Called Ford Customer Service again today and was told to pull Fuse 29 to do a Master Reset that will be, and I quote, "ten times bigger than a computer reset". Also, my USB goes crazy several times a day and my volume control raises on it's own. Is anyone else experiencing some of these ridiculous problems? Please offer suggestions if you have solved any of this.

  3. I had this exact problem today and it was 16 degrees outside but I also just got the Sync Gen 2 update and have been having other issues. No dirt on the handle and I was bare handed. Not sure if it's the cold temp or the update. Will keep you posted though!

     

     

     

     

     

     

    I've had my Edge Limited for over 2 months now and today the doors would not unlock when grabbing the door handle. I tried locking and unlocking various times and most of the time it would not unlock. Keyfob unlock works fine. Weather here is cold and snowy, but it has been this way for a while and this is the first time I've had this issue.

     

    Anyone else have any issues with this?

  4. Temperature has finally gotten below 32 degrees F in the morning and still no heated seats, rear or front defroster turning on. Temp was 27 degrees this morning. When I leave the climate control set to last settings, I have heat but I have to remember to switch the air flow to defrost and floor or my window is still covered in frost. I asked the dealer about this and they said that it should work and that there is nothing to do right now but wait for the temp to get really cold.

     

    Good thing the Edge warms up quickly!

     

     

     

     

     

    I had to check this out for myself. And there's no difference if I do or don't have settings (heated seats, heated steering wheel, front and rear defrost) turned on prior to turning off the vehicle. Remote start simply doesn't activate any of them when set to Auto. I have also turned those controls to Off, shut off the vehicle and restored them to Auto but that didn't help. So I'm out of ideas and now its warming up considerably so I expect that might make it more difficult for the dealer to diagnose.

     

    Anyone have their dealership look at this problem?

  5. Hello all. Quick question for you all. The rear of my Vista roof is uneven. If you stand at the rear of my 2011 Limited AWD Edge, the right side of the roof is slightly elevated, about 1/2 inch, above the left side. I have had it looked at by the dealer as well as a sunroof specialty shop. Can you all do me a favor and look at the rear of your Edge and let me know if I am the only one with an uneven roof? Sunroof shop says it is secure and just slightly off with no defect found. Simply cosmetic but it annoys the daylights out of me.

  6. Hello All. First, I LOVE MY EDGE! Now, technology. My husband and I are very technologically savvy and have been doing loads of research on the Sync system. Some suggestions follow:

    1. Touch slightly below the options that you are aiming for. We have noticed that the system responds instantly if you hit just about on the bottom line of the option. Soft touches are all that are needed.

    2. BT audio streaming depends on the software of your cell phone. I have a Droid X and the system recognizes my phone, shows the music playing but I have no audio. We will see what an update will do for that.

    3. Phone issues for me have been caller ID. Ford said that will be addressed with an update as will the sluggish nature after start-up and cold weather white screen.

     

    I hope some of this makes you feel slightly better. Even with these minor issues, I still get turned on when I turn on the car!

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    I'm a tech guy. I *want* to love MyFord Touch, it has so much potential and so many things it's *trying* to do right. But it is buggy as hell and there's virtually no support from Ford!

     

    The latest and most frustrating bug just started happening 2 days ago: it refuses to accept voice commands to make calls. I'll say "call So and So" like I always have, and it says "No phone is connected" even though the LCD screen shows it is connected to my iPhone, and reports signal strength and battery accurately. Also, it will receive calls through MyFord Touch just fine...if I get a call, it comes up on the screen and everything's normal. It just thinks the phone isn't connected when I try to place calls. I have deleted and repaired my phone to no avail. Mind you this is after it worked fine for a month.

     

    It's all the more frustrating because we can't get anywhere with Ford. The dealer basically says, "Huh, it shouldn't be doing that...it's a new system, we don't have a lot of experience with it yet." And despite offering owner forums on SyncMyRide, Ford itself is a black hole of non-responsiveness.

     

    Here's all the other bugs we've experienced:

     

    * Sometimes doesn’t register touches (have to press hard -- too hard)

    * Hideously slow in processing touchscreen presses

    * When a call comes in, sometimes the previous caller will show up on caller ID until after the current call is answered -- makes caller ID worthless

    * Sometimes radio preset buttons become blank

    * Directions malfunction (took us in the complete wrong direction and then quit)

    * Says things like “bear right on Cincinatti” when it should actually be “bear right on I-74”

    * Sometimes connects to the wrong (non-favorite) phone when more than one phone is present

    * Sometimes takes a long long time (15+ minutes) to connect to a phone

    * Bluetooth audio streaming won't work at all. Shows iPhone in source list, won't actually play anything when selected.

     

    Really starting to lose patience with this. What do you do? Do I demand our whole Sync computer be replaced? Wait it out for the next major update? Why does Ford not have an official way to report such bugs? I'm sure my dealer isn't communicating them accurately all the way to the Sync engineering team.

  7. Sync and Nav update. Just picked the car up from the dealer and this is a quote from the service manager, " Ford is aware that there is a problem with the Sync and Navigation system in severe cold temperatures. The tech department is investigating this issue and are unsure if it is a hardware or software problem." WTF? Didn't I already know that when I took it in? So, long story short, my Sync is all updated and it is a wait and see game. Also, the glass part of my roof is not even and I was told that the dealer couldn't fix it and they would have to contact a specialist. OMG!

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    I purchased a new 2011 ford edge limited with sync and nav. BIG PROBLEM If temperature is lees than approx 2*C the touch screen DOES NOT WORK for approx 30 min into the drive (NO nav, NO AC/Heater, NO radio NO nothing). I took the vehicle to ford and they told me ford is fully aware of the problem BUT dont know why, how or when or even if they can fix the problem. How can a company knowely sell a defect product and brag about being quality? I WOULD NOT NOT BUY A 2011 FORD EDGE UNTILL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. So, I went to the dealer today. Told them about the Nav screen not working when the temps are below are certain degree. Of course, the service manager said that they have only sold 2 cars and have not had any complaints. I am dropping the car off on Monday night so they can have it first thing in the morning. Also, no record of a software upgrade so we shall see what they find. Here's hoping!

    2. finding a new dealer is not the problem, the dealership was instructed from ford not to do anything (they aware of this problem) that it is a software problem. They (ford) is working on a "fix".

     

    To me this is not acceptable. The Edge did not undergo sufficient testing or they just pushed out into market.

     

    And just last week I was thinking ordering a new F-150 with the new 3.5 twin turbo.........

  9. Hi all. I had this problem just this morning. I remote started the car, went out 14 minutes later ( had my climate settings to HI set at previous settings) and started the car. Nav screen was completely WHITE. I turned the car off and restarted it. Same issue. I drove to the bus stop which is .4 miles and still no screen. Sat there for about 5 minutes, turned car off and then on again and Nav was fine. My car was running for a total of 24 minutes before I got the screen back. I will be calling my dealer tomorrow. I can not tolerate that for the long run! Also having issues with BT Audio and the touch sensitivity but I can be patient with that. Hope my dealer doesn't tell me to go home!

  10. Update: So I got the Sync to recognize the BT Audio and the song was registering on the screen and I could switch from song to song but.......NO SOUND! I guess I will stick to using the USB but I can't shuffle with that. OH Well!

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Sorry - yes akirby - I was being a bit snarky about the iphone. I know it isn't the sync working or not but the phone. Was just tired of the iphone hate. :)

  11. Me again! Has anyone had any luck with your climate control including heated seats, front and rear defroster actually working with remote start? I have set my system to last settings because nothing has worked on Auto. The car was completely frosted over today and nothing. Last settings work for cabin temperature but not defroster or seats. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  12. Hello all. I have a Droid X and can not get the BT Audio streaming to work with Pandora. Not sure if my phone is compatible or not. I did get it to recognize the phone and it showed the title of the song but then disconnected. Any suggestions? Second question involves using the USB to play my music. It connects, plays the music but won't shuffle. Any suggestions?

    I'm in KS and have been too lazy to jump out of the car while driving to see if they were lit. Can anyone confirm that they stay on? I think the amber lights may stay on also.

  14. Hello all. As of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a 2011 Edge Limited AWD White Platinum Metallic with 302a package. I absolutely LOVE my Edge but have some questions. I was able to upload my entire contact list to the Sync system but my photos are not showing. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Also, is there an AUX input to plug in my son's mp3 player or do we need to transfer all of his music to a USB?
