  1. See that's the problem is that I don't want to spend $170 US or over $200 CAD on the weathertech mats. I'm in Toronto so not sure how much is a lot of snow where the ford mats wont work. Is it b/c they don't cover the whole area like the weathertech ones? So i may get salt stains?

Well, you get what you pay for. I have bought from WeatherTech several times and I am always happy I did. I have also bought OEM winter mats with mixed results (Mercedes-good, Audi-bad). I have never bought the Ford mats (this is my first Ford).

I agree they are expensive, but if you plan to keep the car for a while what's an extra hundred dollars more than the Ford mats over 4 or 5 years? Worth it to me to keep the carpets nice and save trying to scrub out the salt stains. Its up to you what you value.

  2. I don't know yet as the front liners aren't actually available as yet - they haven't arrived at the warehouse. They are available to order and will ship when they can. The cargo mat fits perfectly.

Update - The Weathertech front floor liners arrived and they fit well. Driver's side fit is not absolutely perfect at one edges, but it snapped easily into place and I think it will settle in at the edges over time.

I am a bit worried about the back lip of the driver's mat interfering with the electrical cabling under the seat (presumably its for the power seat), though. When the seat moves back and forth it looks like it will drag the wiring over the lip of the mat. I will watch this for a while to see if it looks like it will wear the cable.

  3. Has anyone ordered the Weather Tech floor mats for 2011 Ford edge yet and any comments on fit .

I ordered the (front) digital floor liners as opposed to the mats. Have been told by Weathertech they are not expected in the warehouse for 3 more weeks or so, so they put them up on the website early. This is in Canada - maybe they are avail in the US already, I don't know. I'll post when I get them and let you know about the fit.

I previously ordered the rear floor liner for 2010 since they seem to be the same for 2011's and I ordered the cargo area mat for 2011 - both fit well and I'm happy with them.

  4. Hi everyone I'm about to purchase a Ford Edge and need some last minute advice. What is really the difference between the SEL and Limited except for the driver entry package? Seems like you can pretty much have everything else except the Sony radio. I'm still up in the air over the SEL AWD or Limited AWD and it comes down to that driver entry package.

If you get the roof rack side rails can you later down the road add on the bars, bike attachment, and so forth?

Anyone like the Brown color? I unfortunately I'm overseas and can't truly see it, but really think it will look good.

Thanks can't wait to come back and drive it!

    Hi:

Not sure if US is different, but in Canada the Driver Entry Package is optional on both SEL and the Limited. I am assuming your question is not what the differences in standard equipment are, but what isn't available even as an option on the SEL. No guarantee of perfect accuracy here, but I think the items you can only get in the Limited are the memory seats, Sony radio, backup camera, garage door opener and also access to a number of options (e.g. 20" wheels, adaptive cruise, HID headlights, etc.). The trim is different on the Limited too (black interior console, wood trim on dash etc.). We went with the Limited because of the memory seats and the backup camera which were important to us. My wife and I couldn't have more different driving positions, and the rear window view isn't the greatest IMHO.

Yes you can add the accessories to the roof rails later.

We ordered the Earth metallic - yes we like it! Colour is a personal choice, of course.

Looking forward to getting it. Hope that helps you.

  5. The dealer quoted me $2250 and change off the MSRP but I was quoted not shown a fee schedule for the $42000 Limited. Since I never have been able to trust car dealers I do not know if this is the Costco discount or something fabricated. May have to make a trip to Seattle to see what prices are there.

    Jack

    Hi Jack

To answer your original question, I know the Costco discount isn't fabricated because I got the dealer cost before going in to make the deal. I used Car Cost Canada, which is excellent and well worth the nominal cost. If you are in the US I am sure there is something similar available. That way you can negotiate using the dealer cost as your basis, not MSRP. So first negotiate a selling price based on dealer cost plus what you think is a fair dealer profit, then take off the Costco discount (which is after taxes BTW, at least here). Don't consider the Costco discount as something the dealer is giving you - it isn't affecting the dealer's profit since its a manufacturer-driven discount and hence is a pass-through for the delaer (someone chime in if I'm wrong on this, but I don't think so). If your dealer won't do that with you, I would go somewhere else. Hope that helps.
