Not true. There are two different units, but both will work. The pioneer system which is DVD based navigation is plug in play once programmed to your vehicle. The Edge did not change to the new Clarion hard drive based system until mid to late 09. The hard drive based unit will require a four channel amp and small jumper harness to become plug and play. In short, either unit will work with the correct parts and vehicle specific programming. If you have more questions, please let me know.

Your first thought is most likely correct. The radios/nav units in these vehicle require vehicle specific programing. Maybe the original owner took his radio/nav unit with him and purchased another radio off ebay prior to selling. If your new radio is not programmed to look for your steering wheel controls or the correct illumination information, it will not work correctly.

Seems they did not read your post. You absolutely can add factory nav to your 2010 edge. The system prior to MyFord Touch can be added. The system is actually better in most cases. It is plug and play electrically and mechanically with the addition of a couple simple components.

Do you have a basic radio, or factory navigation. In either case, the units are programmed to the specifics of the vehicle. If the previous owner changed the radio or installed navi after the original purchase, they did not get the new unit programmed to the vehicle.

AL1T-18K931-A_. You will need a small wire harness and the Ford factory four channel amp. The unit will also need to be programmed to the specifics of your edge. PM me and we can talk more.

All of the units from 06-08 are compatable. You will want the black unit as the button backlighting is green like the rest of your car. Keep in mind, although the unit will be plug and play electrically and mechanically, it will need to be programmed to the specifics of your vehicle.
