  1. I realize that my question may be off course with the MFT update but it is sort of related. First of all, let me just say that I'm really looking forward to the newest update. Although I haven't had many issues, the system was always slow and I did have to pull the fuse once. I have had my Edge since November '10 and in February '11, I took the car to Europe. The Edge is an eye catcher here! Now, I understand that Ford will be mailing out map updates to work with the newest software. Has anyone of you heard whether Ford may be releasing European maps? I did hear that they will be offering MFT in their European Focus. Thank you.

  2. My wish - the option to send the updates directly to the vehicle using Sync and the BT connected smartphone's data plan. It would eliminate the usb step all together. Like a microsoft windows update, it downloads in the background (in this case driving) and tells you when it's ready to install.

Since the car is able to connect to the internet via WI-FI (not sure the purpose of the connection yet)....why can't we just perform all updates directly from your own garage or from a hot spot. It would make things much easier.

  3. So both Gen2 updates have disappeared from the syncmyride website. It's supposedly a glitch! I can't imagine it would take long to at least fix the update information on the website! I did call my dealer today and was told that they have been informed by Ford yesterday (01-05-11) that Gen2 update has been corrected and is ready to be installed. My dealer suggested to wait since they have not done any installs yet and they were going to perform them on some of the new cars on the lot. He had asked to call back next week (around 01-12-11) to see how the updates have turned out. I will post feedback from the dealer. Please post your own findings or update results.

  4. According to www.syncmyride.com, Ford has released a new Gen 2 update (BT4T-14D544-BE Version SYNC GEN 2). It appears to be a self install via USB. Has anyone performed this yet? I have not done the dealer install Gen 2 update (BT4T-14D544-BD Version SYNC GEN 2) due to all the issues I have been hearing about. Are both required? Does one replace the other? Notice that the install code differs by one letter only (BE or BD) Please share your thoughts as I'm sure many of us are waiting anxiously for some positive feedback!

    Keeping my fingers crossed!

  5. So I took delivery of a 2011 Edge Limited AWD with all the bells and whistles. Great car!!! In the next couple of months, the Edge is being shipped to Europe (Poland) where I will be driving it for a few years. Does anyone one know if I can obtain compatible maps for the navigation system? Any other suggestions related to having it serviced out there? The warranty will apply, I already inquired. Thamks

  6. First of all, I just picked up the 2011 Edge Limited AWD in Earth Metallic color...really sharp!! Now here is what I need help with:

On page 135 of the owner's manual it states that if your Edge has the Intelligent Access (IA) option, you may program the mirrors and seats to specific key fob. Great, I figured that out really easy and it works but there is a paragraph there which directs you to the MyTouch supplemental book to the "create a driver profile" section which allows for creating a driver profile for the infotainment system and is stored in specific IA fob. Only problem is that the supplemental book does not have "create driver profile" section. I think it would be neat to be able to have the infotainment automatically preset your favorite radio stations, temperature, etc for each driver of the vehicle. I hope I explained my dilemma. Looking for input.
