  1. Well, it seems I misspoke about the Serious radio when I said I almost let the program "age-out"

I find the better half had paid for the extension. HOWEVER, received a lengthy e-mail with THIS paragraph:

"IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Your subscription service will automatically renew for additional periods of the same length as the Plan you choose at the rates in effect at the time of renewal, until you call SiriusXM at 1-866-635-2349 to cancel. See our Customer Agreement for complete terms at siriusxm.com. Be sure to read it.I never agreed to this, and believe it is presumptuous to do this, if not illegal as well!

Anybody else have "auto-renew" experience?

  2.

I bought one, and found that the tap prong + fuse blade thickness damages the socket, because the thickness of both blades is too much. I finally found the double fuse holder which seems to be perfect.

There is a listing for this fuse on Amazon,

    http://www.amazon.co...f=pd_sim_auto_1

Littelfuse FHA200B ATO Add-A-Circuit kit. I bought mine at a local parts store, at it came with 4 fuses of different amp ratings, but it seems to me that there is already a fuse in the "spare" connection in the under-the- dash fuse box.

Fuse 34 is for the reverse sensing system

The proper fuse to tap is # 33, a spare.

All from the Ford "Owner's Guide" for the 2011 Edge, that comes in the zip document holder. worship.gif

  3. Our short experience with Sirius radio was not all that fruitful. When the short trial period was over I decided NOT to renew - especially since the only benefit to me was Road Traffic.

Since I could not get unless I paid for the most expensive options package, I let it lapse, and trashed all their offers.

Well, it arose from the dead and suddenly the Radio Portion is working. Of course, to me. they only offered one or two channels I could stand listening to.

Hmm! I wonder what happened, but I am not going to ask. :hide:

Anything like this happen to our friends here?

  4. I tried, a few days ago, to send pictures - but the list would not accept them ?????

Here is a small electrical connector from Amazon:

Hope all the attachments get through.

Here is the direct Amazon Link to the Amazon fuse taps:

Anyway, it may be connected through my own browsing, but close. Search Amazon for "Wirthco", if this link doesn't work.

Here is the data from Langstrum's Foundry - however their fuse box is on the left, and ours are under the dash (from interior, under some plastic removable cover to get to the fuses.

  6. Tiger Steve,

Did you ever get you Audi lights for your Edge? If, so what kind did you get and also do you have any pics?

    Thanks!

I did buy the set from iJDMtoy, com "LED_Audi_Style_Strip_20 inch pair for about $26. Now listed at $16.99. Looks good. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find the "power" connection. I want the LED lights on whenever the motor is running, and off when it isn't. I have the references for connectors to connect to the correct fuse.

    http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Audi-Style-Headlight-Fog-Light-LED-Strip-Lighting-p/led_audi_style_strip_sku59.htm

I was told that these fuses are on a distribution box, under the dashboard, driver's side. It is not easy to get to the box for THREE reasons:

    1) It is, apparently, under the drivers side dash, on the firewall,

    2) It may be behind the firewall carpet

    3) I may have trouble, with my arthritis, bending my back/neck to work in this area.

Maybe I can get my son (or one of my grandson's sons) to get in there!

  7. Thanks, SilverEdge2011,

I checked out this offering and I am uncertain. While the pair price for 24 inch strips (2) seems very reasonable at $24/pr - free shipping - The Ford has very good turn signals, with the "Limited" model design. I would rather have all white, or all amber - if allowed in California. Left a few messages on this at the DMV web site, but haven't heard back.

Would you be familiar with CA requirements?

Are these available with amber, or white only, strings?

Can't leave a question on the web site. They (you?) ought to incorporate this feature, or supply the availability/compliance information.

    B)

  8. That looks easy. But in my opinion, those kind of have a cheapish look compared to the real Audi lights.

But If you are going that route, check out this kit: its only 13 bucks and uses the same strip leds:

    http://www.v-leds.co...884454-1-3.html OR http://www.v-leds.co...561957-1-3.html

This second link is probably better: 12" of that stuff with the leads wired is only 8.79 each.... so $17 bucks for both sides.

For the same price that you are getting at that one site, you could get 2 - 24inch strips. That's way more than enough for our headlights.

I'm ordering a super long section of this stuff and using it for auxiliary body/interior lights (glove box for sure), cutting it as I see fit.

Thanks, "Bammer". They both do look alike. Like to hear from anyone who installed these, or the V-LED. I have the Edge LTD, which has different housings than any other Ford Edge model. This is a picture of the Edge LTD model, with HID Headlights (stock on this model). The bottom of the turn signal area sticks out, and the only edge is outside the housing in this area. This means sticky-side up, and air exposed, but underneath thew area below the HID headlight. (little clearance.)

Here's a posted pic by "doubledeuce".

    http://www.fordedgef...2-edgefrontjpg/

I was thinking about an "amber" color like the turn signal. I know that any red, or blue lights are not allowed in California. It is questionable about Yellow, or Amber. The guy giving you a ticket is REALLY not knowledgeable about anything but red or blue. Doesn't mean HE knows it's questionable, YOU are stuck for an inspection. So, you have removed the price issue. I have seen similar results with an LED string (like Christmas Tree lights, but can't recall where.

    Thanks for your help.

    Tiger_Steve

  9. They would have to be heated to remove the glue. For California, I was under the impression that you can have any color up front as long is it is NOT RED NOR BLUE.

Did a little research on this. The LED strip lights have installation instructions that place the LED strip on the housing holding the entire headlight assembly. No need to bake your light housing in the oven, and pry it apart. The LED's are placed on the body under the removed headlight assembly. 3M Double sticky-tape adhesive strip. The illustrated instructions look fairly simple.

PlasmaGlow "LumaFlex" has a 12" strip set at $30 http://www.plasmaglow.com/lumaflex-led-strips/

A UTube link can be found at: http://www.plasmaglow.com/lightning-eyes-headlight-kit/

"AutoAnything" is the only site with ACTUAL installation instructions (illustrated) in PDF form:

Look for this link! "Download installation instructions". Free Adobe Reader required. This seems to be a link to PlasmaGlow page, but cannot be found on the PlasmaGlow web site?????

They sell the sets for about $41, including shipping

    Tiger_Steve

  10. Been looking at the "Audi" style flexible LED string for Edge LTD style headlights.

As near as I can figure out the offerings, the consist of closely space LED's on an adhesive baking to place inside the headlight housing.

They are moderate in cost ($40)

    Look great

    Issue is:

How can they be installed inside a lens/housing glued together?

I've seen lens headlight housings heated in an oven to un-glue. Messy and may damage headlight housing.

What color(s) are street legal in California, for this application?

I've seen white, blue/white, and yellow/amber offerings, but the manufacturer(s) have no idea about using their product.

  11. Here are MORE details on the NEW 10S14 - Re-Inspection recall:

and YES this is new, with the recall notice in March, 2011.

    10S14 - Re-Inspection

The F-Series (which includes the F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550), Edge and MKX have been targeted due to an electrical short that could cause a vehicle fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) explains how the problem was discovered. "These vehicles were inspected using [an] integrated diagnostic system (IDS) that had a custom software routine to read the suspect body control module (BCM) serial number. Based on the serial number the BCM was either not affected or replaced.

The custom software routine was not reading the correct set of characters, and was not able to identify a BCM that required replacement.

Affected BCMs have the potential for an "internal short."

There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.

The recall will begin on or around March 7. Dealers will inspect the BCM, and if needed, replace it for free. In an email, Ford adds, "This is a relatively quick repair is expected to take less than a half day. Customers should work with their dealers on scheduling."

If you have further questions, you may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or contact NHTSA at :mad:1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. The recall number is 10S14.

No! this is NOT the old recall, but a recall of a recall that was not done correctly. :headscratch::headscratch::headscratch::headscratch::mad::mad::banghead::banghead::banghead:

  12. Am I crazy for wanting a Limited with AWD and 301A in So Cal?

It seems that the dealers are full of FWDs in So Cal right now.. What gives? Do I need to order one?

If you travel off-road, or on snow-covered roads, you may need it.

Can't see any other purpose. The mileage gets worse through the additional friction load of another drive train, and the tire road noise (with accompanying tires) might annoy you. :shift:

  13. I have no idea what you're referring to. I pinned the original recall so people could see it and not re-post it over and over and over. Please enlighten me as to what was "undesirable messing around".......

What you intended was not apparent to me. And I saw no activity when you moved it, and no reply to my request for understanding what was done.

What you intended would, perhaps, have been better served if it listed the topic under "New Recalls"

    Thanks,

I am pretty exhausted by all the "we'll fix-it once or twice or --

  14. Ford is doing it to you twice!

This NEW recall was reported in the Ford Recall forum, and "pinned" because it was "covered too much". This is an undesirable messing around by a Forum Manager, and it was pinned!

I have, today (03/11/2011) received my 2011 Edge recall "10S14 - Re-Inspection" notice from FORD on the BCM (Body Control Module"

The previous recall may not have been "acceptable" :stop:

after a two hour wait in the dealership, it was deemed "fixed". Now it's all on again !:censored:

  16. RECALL! :banghead:

Just read in Thursday, 3 March L.A. Times that Ford is having a recall on 35,000 vehicles.

This includes Edge, MKX,F150, F250, F350, F450, and F550 vehicles. They are concentrating on Oct 25 ,2009 thru May 2010.

They are "fixing" a software problem that could lead to electrical short and overheating (fire, or engine temp?) :extinguish:

So, are there not enough fires yet on the 2011 models?

  17. Lost Your Satellite Radio, prematurely?

Well I did! The dealer claims no responsibility, it just gets "wiped" when they "Fix" it!

The Sirius Radio went of the "air", and all I get are messages to "renew" after two months since purchase. The dealer upgraded my Nav System, and now I no longer get Sirius, all my destinations have been wiped!

Oh yes! an undocumented feature. Apparently, when you get to a destination, you can push the "Red Arrow", representing your car, and it creates the desired destination. You can add Destination Name, etc. later!

"Into every life, a little rain must fall". But why is it always have to be ME!

  18. I noticed the same problem, the cheap Nuvis will do it, but our expensive built-in navigation systems will not. I emailed Ford and they told me they don't even know if this issue is one they are wokring on. For now, you can not add a location in the Nav system.

New Recall Body Control Module (BCM), and "Customer Satisfaction" Synch change.

Got my recall notice, as well as a "Customer Satisfaction" fix to the Sync Navigation System. Dealer says the first issue would be to verify that my BCM (Body Control Module) needs the upgrade by examination and test. Not all the BCM's have this fix needed, They will give me a rental car while it is being repaired.

The "Sync fix" is a software update, is not covered by a rental car, but would be if both fixes are on the same day. Schedule your appointment.

Notice, one can read "Customer Satisfaction" as "we are getting too many complaints, and bad press than normal"

    :yahoo:

  19. I am told it is the Body Control Unit (BCU) and it has a suspect circuit card. Mine is one of the possable units. I am told i will have my Edge back on Monday. So it cannot take too long to replace.

  20. My 2011 Edge is two weeks old, and I cannot seem to set a navigation location in a large, stand-alone shopping mall that I am actually at. While I can get the map coordinates, I cannot set a destination. It REQUIRES a street name and street address, and there is none! This is typical of many large shopping center that are stand-alone. They do NOT have a postal address, a store may have one, but it is not where the location is.

What do I do? Especially, what do I do if it is out of town?

  21. Welcome to the forums. Is there a specific question that you have regarding your Nav or MFT system? Its always easier to use the search function to see if someone has asked your question before.

The great thing about the forums is that most of us have come across similar problems before and probably have the quick answer. This wont substitute what a trained SYNC sales person could teach you in a 20 minute lesson, but you can probably get as much out of sitting in your car and playing with the system yourself with your owners manual nearby.

    EdgieGuy,

Thank you for trying to be helpful. So many replies, to my request for knowledgeable help, treated it as a joke.

I did try searching the site, with no luck!

Unfortunately, there is no one at the dearlership that has, or even claims to have, any knowledge about the new 2011 system. (which I think actually has some recall about it.)

AND, I apologize if the site's "Emoticons" did not appear as pictures in the post. Maybe something is wrong.

And to the worry warts, Your space program is not in jeopardy. I have been doing this for over 56 years. Must be doing something right!
