  1. OK, we have narrowed it down to the Edge and Honda Pilot,

My wife likes the drive and options with the Edge but the space of the Pilot (we are coming from the Odyssey)

Do the back row of seats move forward and backward or do they stay in place?

Can we take the headrests off the back row of seats? My wife finds it hard to see out of the back with them.

Do you think two full size suit cases fit in the back of the edge?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steven

  2. Hello

I need to get a pin to get a 2011 ford edge limited

please help, as i am coming off of a ford edge lease

    thanks!

I went to the dealer with a PIN and wanted to lease but they said that the buy back price at the end of the lease is based on MSRP and not PIN price, are they trying to pull a fast one or is this correct? If they are right what good does having a Ford PIN do for leasing a car?

  3. I saw a lease advertisement today for a $219/mo 2011 Ford Edge SEL FWD with SYNC, Leather, and MyFord Touch. 24 months. Ford Credit Red Carpet Lease $4953 Cash Due at Signing.

My question is, how do you calculate what this means about the actual car price (NYC area) so you can negotiate that you want this offer but with a couple of additions (Vista roof and Nav)?

I am new to leasing, but what I've read is that the monthly lease amount is calculated based on the negotiated car price (Cap cost), lease rate and residual value. Given a set of numbers can you use the lease offer to determine what they're pricing the car?

Good question, I want to lease an Edge as well and would like to know the answer to this as well.

If you don't plan on buying the car after the lease is up am I right to think that it does not matter what you negotiate the selling price at?

  4. You are missing out by only reacting to the downers on these forums. I have had my limited since September - still on version 1.8 and no problems with MFT - Love this car more every day.

I realize that :( I do want it but for the price I wuld be very upset if I had the issues described by many on this site. only a few more months until 2012 is out and I think I will sleep better just waiting.

  5. With every revision of the software though you have to admit it's getting better and better.

I really would like to purchase the Edge but all the stories about MyTouch are making me hold back.

I am hoping this will be corrected in the 2012 model.

Any news on what will be changing on the Edge for the new model?

  6. Fors those people who have leased before, ( am not one of them) do you have to have the car brought in for scheduled maintenance and are you responsible for the cost of it?

If you ask will the dealer include maintenance in the car? (Is that hard to get them to agree too?)

Are the dealers supposed to tell me the rate if I request it? One gave me the rate while another dealer would not tell me?

Also, when the deaer called me today to see if I was interested the car I wanted would have to be ordered and he said that he could not tell me the lease payments until I take the car. Is that right? If I order the car now and put down payment why can't he tell me my lease payments?

  7. I really wanted to get the Edge but because of the issues with the mytouch I will hold off until the next model and hope that there might be some fixes either hardware or software or both.

I will just feel better if I wait because to spend over $30,000 and have an issue like this is not right in my opinion (and I know not everyone is having an issue but I am always lucky when it comes to things like this and will get the Edge with problems :)

  8. I picked my Limited up already installed with Gen 2, and I can't imagine how bad the touch screen responsiveness was before for people to say it is better now. The Pioneer AVIC Z-110BT I had in my last car was lightning fast in touch screen response AND had the tabbed alphabetization reffered to in 7(B) of the letter. I luckily haven't experienced any of the other issues, but points 6 and 7(B) are valid and inexcusable oversights in a (potentially) great system.

What is Gen 2? What differences are there?

  9. With the $2500 in incentives, I am paying just over $35K. (MSRP is $40,675.) This is before tax, tag and dealer fee, but includes the $775 destination and delivery.

Most dealers in my area are not budging much on price because the Edges are selling so fast. I checked with 2-3 dealers in the area before deciding on the one I am buying from. My dealer found the Edge Sport with the options I wanted about 75 miles away.

    Good luck!

I did not realize there were that big of incentives going on now.

  10. After a lot of research on this forum, I'm getting the 2011 Edge Sport in Tuxedo Black with the vision package, Bliss system, driver's entry, panoramic roof and the nav system. I also ordered the all weather interior mats. Are there any other options/add-ons worth considering?

I appreciate your thoughts and input!

Do you mind me asking what you paid for your Edge with all these options?

I am in the market too and am trying to see what others paid for their Edge's

  11. Curious if anyone has gone this route and how do you know the price being quoted is the "Costco" pricing and not some figure thought up by a sales manager?

    Jack

I have never used the costoc pricing but am curious as well. I thought you can login to the costco website and fill out information and somene from a local dealer gets back to you. I would compare that price with edmuds.com and see how it compares.

  12. Not strange at all, but consider this.

Most electronics either fail right off the bat due to a manufacturing defect or they last for years or until they get a power surge which shouldn't happen on a fused circuit in the vehicle.

Also - in the case of the powertrain warranty let's say the ESP is 7 yrs. 100K miles. Since the factory warranty is 5 yrs 60K miles you're really only getting additional coverage for 2 yrs or 40K miles. Anything that happens before 5/60 is covered by the factory warranty and anything that happens after 7/100 isn't covered at all.

People tend to see 7 yrs/100K miles and think that's a great deal when in reality the coverage of the ESP is far, far less because of the factory warranty. Just something to keep in mind.

Thank you for the explanation. I found that out when I bought the Honda plan. They should not run concurrent in my view or they should just state the extra years covered under the plan to avoid confusion.

  13. My main concern is MFT and Sync, too. Following those it's the other big stuff like transmission, alternator, etc. I sold an 05 Escape for my Edge, didn't get the ESP on the Escape and had no problems at all in 119k miles.

I shopped the ESP on the Edge and will get it for $970 with $200 deductible, as opposed to $1170 with $100 deductible. 970 is cheaper up to and including the 2nd claim including the 100/200.

Were you able to haggle with them on the price at all for the ESP?

  14. No - I don't buy them. I self-insure. It's cheaper over the long run. Most of my cars have been kept 2 years beyond the factory warranty and I have yet to pay for a single repair out of warranty, so by not buying the extended warranty I've probably saved over $7K. Even if I have to buy a new transmission or engine I'm still WAY ahead.

My recommendation is if you can afford to pay for a large repair then it's cheaper to self-insure (again, over the long run. You may lose on one or even a few vehicles but in the long run the odds are in your favor. If they weren't then nobody would be selling extended warranties). If you can't then buy the ESP with the largest deductible you can afford and finance the plan with the vehicle so that you're only paying a few bucks per month.

Most run between $1100 and $1900 depending on length of coverage and deductible. Remember you already get a 5 yr 60K mile powertrain warranty from the factory.

Might sound strange but I am more worried about the My Touch breaking than I am the transmission

  15. Some have reported better prices via the internet but it's like buying anything else - your mileage may vary. It costs the dealers the same so it depends on how much profit your dealer is trying to make versus the other guys. You just have to shop around. Do your shopping ahead of time so you know what the cost is and you can compare that to what your dealer is asking or you can ask them to match it.

You can buy the ESP plan for the same price within the first year and you can also buy it up until the 3 yr/36K warranty runs out for $100 more. So you don't have to buy right away.

    Akirby,

Do you have it? If so how many years and deductible did you get?

  16. I don't know about others, but I've had mine since the beginning of Nov. 2010. I had one issue with screen freezing one evening, but system reset on its own after I reached my destination. I'm not a technical person so I don't use the USB, or bluetooth music from another device, and I don't care whether or not a persons picture appears when I receive a call over the vehicles bluetooth. I bought it for the looks, drive and quality of finish...as well as for the price and have not been disappointed at all. Be confident that the tech issues will ultimately be resolved.

I will most likely not use USB, or pictures either.

Is this the first year they are using My Touch?

  17. Is this the first year Ford is using this system? I am looking to buy the edge but I must admit that the My Touch feature is scaring me. It seems very complex (not to use) and I am concerned I will be brining it to the shop for repair if not now certainly later on down the road.

I really love the car and this system seems very interesting to me but scary at the same time.

For those of you with My Touch what are your impressions and are all the features Ford is showing in commercials actually working now?

  18. Ford PremiumCare ESP is their most comprehensive plan. It is different from scheduled maintenance plans but covers most if not all non wear items.

Can you buy this cheaper via the internet or by phone. I know if I buy this car they will try and sell me the plan at a much higher price.

  19. Yes. The one we have gives us 3 oil changes a year for free and other basic maintenance items. The oil change is every 5000 miles which is 15000 miles a year. It covers the Edge up to 100000 miles. There are different levels of the ESP as well.

If you don't mind me asking which plan did you get and how much was it?
