  1. I have a 2011 Edge Limited with BLIS. I am looking for a replacement mirror (just the mirror not the entire rearview mirror assembly).

According to Tasca parts, the current part number for just the mirror is listed as CT4Z-17K707-J (With blind spot monitor, with memory, from 2/08/11). Mine was manufactured in May of 2011. I am the original owner.

The issue I have is that when I removed the mirror that I want to replace, the part number on the back of it is CT43-17T675-D. This seems very different from the one listed by Tasca parts. Can anyone confirm that the part number listed above is the current replacement part for the one shown on the back of my original mirror. Or, if it isn't, provide me with the proper, current, replacement part number. Thanks!

  2. I love my car, but a couple issues need to be address by the dealer before I would say I'm north of 90% satisfied.

Many of the body panels are not consistent as well as some of the interior pieces. Also, I get an MFT freeze/reboot every 10 days or so. (on v2.7)

When you say the body panels are not consistent, what do you mean specifically?

  3. Does anyone know which if any of the following discounts could be used in concert (cumulative) towards the purchase of a 2011 Edge using X-Plan Pricing? My guess would be the following:

    #90544 $1,000 X-Plan Customer Cash

    #33462 $750 X-Plan Partner Recognition

    # 33470 $500 X-Plan Partner E-Certificate

#11920 $1,000 Promotional Retail Bonus Customer Cash

#11920 $1,000 Promotional Retail Bonus Customer Cash (mfg financing)

    Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks,

  4. I just installed the illuminated sill plate kit on our 2008 Ford Edge today. They replace the stock sill plates. The thing I did not like was that when you remove the sill plates from the vehicle their are two tabs that break off so you can't reuse them if you want to change them back. I think this was a design ford did, it even shows a picture of a trash can in the instructions so they know you can't reuse them. It's a nice upgrade a little pricey though, about $150 and wires into the door light wiring so when you open the doors they illuminate.

I agree that the illuminated sill plates are a nice touch. I wish that ford had included these as standard. I first saw them on a 2010 Ford Mustang that I rented which had only 6 miles on it. That was a fun car to have for a week. Anyway, i was wondering if anyone had seen any aftermarket illuminated sill plates where you could get custom lettering. I'm thinking it'd be cool to put your last name on the illuminated sill plate.

  5. Good to know. The SONY branded system sounds great in my opinion, but the cheapest upgrade to any system has always been pulling the stock speakers and adding a quality name brand. Crutchfield is great resource for this.

Maybe summertime Ill look into changing out the stocks for some Infinitiy's. Thanks again for pointing this out.

I agree. In my opinion the Sony branded system (of the 2011 limited) sounds somewhat better than the stock system in the SEL. I believe in the LTD version of the 2011 Edge you also have a subwoofer that is not provided in the SEL model.

  6. I got my wheels and tires from TireRack you can give them a call and they can answer all your questions. As far as tire size goes your going up on rim size so your tire size will go down, like if you have 245/60/18 then you would probably go with a 245/50/10 depending on where you live I'd watch how low pro you go with tires. No mods need to be done,it's a simple swap of rims and tires, just make sure you have the TPMS installed and reset.

Keep in mind that you could see an increase in as much as 25 pounds of unsprung weight per corner by upgrading to 20" rims from 18" rims. This has been reported to affect handling and ride by some.

  7. Just back from the dealership and I orderd my 2011 Edge. SEL (202a), AWD, Kona Blue, Black Leather. I considered the Limited but it made the most sense to save some money. Also, the 18" rims are more my style.

    I had a question:

Besides the radio and wheels, what features am I missing by getting the SEL (202a) instead of the Limited?

Thanks, reading this forum was extremely helpful in choosing my Edge with the best features for me and my family.

The audio system in the limited (Sony) is an upgrade that I believe is not available as an option on the SEL.

  8. Thanks. That is very helpful to know. I find it interesting that the remote start option (in the 302A package) is not highlighted very well. I had to dive into the details to realize that it is included as part of the package. It seems to me that the 302A package overall is a good deal (I believe rain sensing wipers are also included in the 302A, no?)

  9. The remote start icon would have you believe that all you have to do is press the button twice. That's not it. What you have to do is:

    1) Press the lock button once

    2) (within 3 seconds) Press the start button

    3) (within 3 seconds) Press the start button a 2nd time.

Hope that helps. Congrats on your new ride. Did you get cooled seats? That would be sweet in Florida! I have an MKX on order with that option; I can't wait to try them out.

  10. I just did a custom order for the Edge Limited AWD w/ 302A, Tow Package, and backlit door plate: MSRP $42,775 and got it for $36,753.03 (includes Admin and title fee). I got ZAG pricing, 1500 rebate, 1000 finace rebate, the $750 direct rebate for requesting info booklet. The local ford dealership is backing the rebates so if they expire or go down in amount, they will cover it. If there is a better rebate when my car comes in, they will give me the better pricing. I think I did pretty good!... I hope.

    Thanks.

    Jason

My local dealer offered the same. That is, incentives available at time of "ordering" are honored upon pickup even if you order a vehicle (and do not purchase from dealer inventory). Also will honor any additional incentives in place at time of pickup. Pretty good deal I think.

  11. 4 X 8 trailer with a Sportbike sould be fine.

I concur. The Edge is primarily a front wheel drive vehicle, and as such, it is is probably unwise to tow big heavy things like 5th wheels and horse trailers up a high mountain pass. Nevertheless, a simple bike or utility trailer should be fine. Large RV campers though are probably not recommended.

  12. The mystery may be solved. The car had a trailer hitch installed new and it was removed as there was no need for it (also saved a few hundred dollars on the cost). It was removed by the dealer and the thought is that they removed the metal bumper as well. It doesn't make perfect sense to me but was account given. I think it odd the guy in the service dept didn't know he was removing the whole bumper not just the hitch, and no one asked why he took that off, or even why there was bumper laying around. I'm not sure what to think, but will try to get more clarification tomorrow.

While I understand that the trailer hitch and bumper may be co-dependent, if there were no bumper behind the bumper cover it would seem to be extremely difficult if not impossible to secure said bumper cover without resulting in significant rattle or looseness I would think.

  13. The mileage on the Edge is better, and from what I have read, the Edge's AWD performs better in bad weather (a significant factor for me). I purchased the Edge Limited for the features, and absolutely love it thus far.

I concur with the Edge's AWD performance being superior to the Journey. While the Jeep GC is fantastic in Snow the Journey is not quite as capable but not bad. The Edge actually in my experience (2011) does better in snow AND icey roads compared to the Jeep GC (which is no small feat). Very stable even going up an icy hill when it was about -5F outside. I was highly impressed with the Edge's performance.
