  1. It was a pretty easy install. First, remove the stock bulb connectors and put the new bulbs in. You will connect the new bulbs to the ballasts and the stock connectors will just dangle. With a relay kit from EBAY or wherever, you hook up the red ring wire to the battery. I used the extra post on the side of the + battery terminal with the wire that went to the power box. I then used the ground on the chassis that my battery went to. It worked out great and its kinda out the way. I put the ballasts on the side of my headlight housing ( need to find some better adhesive since the 3M stuff didnt work too well ) but when they stoped adhering, they stayed in the headlight housing pocket and wouldnt budge. With the relay kit wires run, one lone cable w/ connector will go to the right and one short one to the left. You hook those connections up to the ballasts. With the relay kit there is another short wire that has little terminal connectors. Remember the dangling original light bulb connectors. You insert them into the original female plug of the stock light bulb of the left (drivers) side connector. Remember to check the polarity before connecting them. I put a plastic clear bag on the right side bulb connector with electrical tape so a short wouldnt occur. Put the fuse in the relay kit and your ready to go. Turn on and the buzz happends with pretty light. Then purty up the engine bay with tie wraps and ur good to go. If you want to really weatherprotect your relay kit since its not waterproof, you can put plastic bags over your fuse ( the relay kits seem to have it exposed ) and the actuall relay ( the box with 4 pins). Thats about it. Other than making things look pretty, only takes maybee 30 min if you have the right tools. Good times.

    hi:

Can you post couple of photo to show how to connect relay and hid set? I have attached the install guide, but i am not sure where i should connect the signal and two ground line!

    Thanks!

  2. Well, I do alot of Highway driving for business and just returned from Regina and area, in those -20 temps we had early this week and I can say my milage has really improved since new, I have about 5,000km on it now and I averaged over 22mpg ( 10.5L/100km ) on the whole trip, I was very pleased considering it never shut off during the day and it included alot of city as well. Much betterthen when I first got it, when I was getting around 13mpg ( 18L / 100lm ). It really depends on how you drive it. I saw a trick on the forum that if you can keep the rpm under 2000 at all times it gives you great milage. Kinda hard though it makes you drive like a granny.

    Good Luck!

keep the rpm under 2000, is this really work? because it is winter time, if I driving like a granny, it doesn't matter. :shades:

  3. I have been a member for a while, but never posted yet. Just have to say I love this thing! We finally got some snow here in Winnipeg Cananda and with the traction control off, this thing is so much fun on the back roads. Like a slow motion rally car.

With the system engaged very sure footed and composed. Beautiful vehicle.

    Post your thoughts.

    Hi:

I am living winnipeg too. How much for ur real gas consumption? my sel awd model is going up to 17.1 L/100 Km!

  4. Hi guys:

My 2007 Edge is SEL AWD model and 3200KM on my odometer. Until now my gas consumption is 16.6L/100 KM for the city drive, I think this number is too badly! by the way I fill Shell regular gas! Anyone have any idea?

  5. Hi,

My husband just installed an 8000K H11 McCulloch HID kit (low beams only) on my 2007 SEL + that we bought last weekend. He ended up having to use the relays and I am hearing a very loud buzzing noise from INSIDE the car.

He installed them last night and we went for a spin...no noise. The noise came this morning. I understand the ballasts will make a humming noise that you can hear outside the car; what I'm hearing is inside and it's really loud. It looks awesome; but damn it's annoying.

Anyone have any advice? Do we need to plug capacitors into the relays?

    Thanks!!!

    hi:

I got same kinds of problem from my hid and it is also cause my engine light come out. When I put back the original one, the light gone. So I think maybe some volt problem cause this issue. By the way my edge has day time running light function. So for now, I use manufactory one for my low bean, and I try to put the hid set to my fog light later today!

Does anyone have any udea is that hid light will burn out the lampshade, if I put the hid to my fog light!

  7. fly6,

To be of any help we need info on what HID you installed and troubleshooting you have done. HID's installed, idiot light on now , code p0452... isn't much to go on.

Disabling the DRL's is very important for HID's. Needs a constant and steady 12v or the ballast will not last. 16 gauge wire size min and a relay is recommended.

    Try this...

    1. Disconnect batt

    2. Check batt for full charge and level

    3. Disconnect all wires from the HID kit but nothing else. Reconnect batt and drive it. Light come one now?

    1. Its the net. Nobody cares!

    2. BTW, its "grammar" but us "idiots" know what you mean.

    :gang:

I dunno if light will come on or not but Fords have network codes(U).

U0180 Lost Communication With Automatic Lighting Control Module

U0181 Lost Communication With Headlamp Leveling Control Module

U0182 Lost Communication With Lighting Control Module

U0183 Lost Communication With Lighting Control Module

Agreed. Emission problem. Bad part or leak likely. Usually hard to find.

Possible... but not likely the culprit. Would have other symptoms like rough idle, hesitation, hard to start, etc. if its the fuel.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Edit:

I use black tape to cover the sensor to keep get enough power supply.

    Edit:

thanks for your replay. I did not find a way to disable the DRL. The dealership will not do that for me, cause it against the law. for now, I just put back the original low beam bulb back to my edge, and see what happen next. I did not disable my hi beam for hid light. I just leave there, cause I did not use it when I driving in the city. and I think it is will not cause any problem, if I do not use it.

I just want to know is anyone install hid headlight for the edge, and nothing going wrong? I wish the code is not cause by the hid light. if it is cause by hid light, can I return the set of hid light back to ebay seller to get refund?

    Thanks!

  9. First I fill Esso regular gas!

Second, the dealer told me the problem maybe cause the hid headlight, they ask me to put back the original bulb in my vehicle. And see what is happen!

And the machinist threaten me that if the problem cause by my hid headlight, the dealer will charge back my moeny for the checking fee and maybe cause some warranty problem.

    Anyone have any idea?

    It is too bad!

  10. HI Guys:

My damn engine light come back again. is any possible cause by air filter. This is time when I start my engine, after few second the engine light come out.
