  1. Ford did not, but Thule did offer roof racks for Vista roof equipped Edges through 2014 model year. I have a Thule rack that fit my 2011 and 2013.

Thule does not offer the racks for 2015s.

This is the question, why not the 2015?

  2. I'm a little confused.

I found no discussions about a 2015 Edge with panoramic roof and Thule racks.

The Thule fits the previous generation Edge.

Ford won't sell Thule systems with the vista roof for the 2015s.

    What am I missing?

  3. Picking up a 2015 Titanium this week to replace my leased 2013 Limited. Both have the Vista roof.

I have a Thule ski box which mounts to the 2013.

Thule and Ford claim that the 2015 cannot accept any roof rack if you have the glass roof.

Yakima, however, does sell racks for the 2015 Edge.

Anyone have any ideas why the 2015 should (or should not) be able to hold a roof rack system?

  4. I just checked the Thule fit guide on their site; no mention of a 2011 Edge. However, Yakima shows a fit guide for the 2011 and the components match a 2010. So, from Yakima's point of view same roof. You may want to contact Thule and put a bug in their ear.

I need to order racks in a couple of months to transport my kayaks. I too have a BAMR roof. I originally wanted a 2007 Edge when they first came out, but both rack manufacturers took several months to release a rack system for the BAMR roof. I instead drove a Vovlo for few years just to transport my boats. I like a glass roof so I can check on my boats; great way to see if they shifted or disappeared.

What do you plan on transporting?

You may want to contact Thule and put a bug in their ear. I'm sending them an email and asking. Hopefully, between the two us Thule will release a rack. I own a lot of their equipment.

I just purchased the Thule racks for a 2010 and it fit perfectly on my 2011. Thule has not yet updated their fit guides.

  5. I still can not believe all the problems with the Sync systems and navigation. An $100 Nuvi works better. Ford Nav: can't change voices, can not input Lat/long, sends you on real long-out of the way routes, (Google Maps, Nuvi and Mapquest are the same, Ford Nav routes are VERY different), annoying traffic alerts get in the way and are too slow to evaluate and too sensitive, (slow traffic areas come up, but the suggested route around them add to the trip time). With the Nuvi, you can search for hotels for example, in another state and town, and Nuvi gives you the list with their telephone number. The Nav system is too slow to use when moving. They did not get this one right yet!

  6. On the 2011 you can click the view button to display the route in text, road by road(split screen view) , then click avoid on any of the roads you want to avoid, and it will route around them. I tried it once or twice but it didn't do much for me.. I was trying to route round traffic on the highway but there wasn't any other routes available.

In canada we don't have travellink to route around traffic automatically.. Wish we did..

I emailed Ford, and all they said was ..."I apologize for the issue that you are having with the navigation system. Unfortunately, the navigation system in your vehicle is made to find the "fastest" route not the shortest. Depending on what unit you have in your vehicle, you may be able to toggle to change from shortest, fastest route ETC. I apologize for any inconvenience that it has caused...."

  7. What happens, if when you are at the mall you touch the blinking circle and select save to favorites. Or touch Dest and select map, find mall on map and touch the map and select save to favorites.

I just tried the 2 methods and I was able to save my current location and a destination out in the middle of a pasture to favorites.

Cool. I'll try this tomorrow. If it works, then Sync REALLY does not know what they are talking about as they told me this was not possible.

  8. Check your preferences for shortest, fastest, greenest route and other things like whether to use major highways vs. city streets, etc. You should also have the option to choose another route.

I know how to choose fastest, shortest, greenest, but how does one choose another route?

  9. Has anyone had an issue with the route the nav system picks?

I have taken the same route to Northern Vermont for years. The cheap Nuvi knows how to get there, which is the same route as Mapquest or Google Maps.

The Ford Nav route takes me way out of the norm, and actually into the major cities.

Comments anyone or have you had the same issues?

  10. Thanks, but it isn't listed. I have found the location and driving directions on "Google Maps", it is accurate, and it's free!!!

Now, how can I get the very expensive Navigator to use this information?

I noticed the same problem, the cheap Nuvis will do it, but our expensive built-in navigation systems will not. I emailed Ford and they told me they don't even know if this issue is one they are wokring on. For now, you can not add a location in the Nav system.
