thanks!!!
My new 2011 Ford Edge Sport did not come with a factory installed perimeter alarm. I purchased the VSS GEN2 device to turn on the perimeter alarm but had it later removed because it altered the procedures for using the factory installed remote start. I had to unlock the car first then press the lock button then double press the remote start button. The distance to unlock is very limited so the feature was useless.

And what would be the fix?

What about a remote start system wiring diagram for a Ford Edge Sport 2011?
-
got a free wiring diagrams manual from the local dealer where we do a lot of installs for. let me know if anyone needs a specific wire & location but be paitent waiting for the response.

The dealer installed a perimeter alarm system about 3 wks after we purchased the car. I'm pretty sure the remote started as per the manual instructions and then failed after this. I'm assuming it's a factory add-on?

Apparantly, you have to unlock the car to disable to alarm first then press the lock button once then the start button twice.

Both admin keys set off the alarm when activating a remote start and most disabling options fail to stop the alarm until the car is turned off and restarted and at that stage panic by pressing lock, unlock, etc until the alarm stops. Both keys behave the same. What's going on? Anyone have the same problems and the car is 6mos old.

That's what I did - had the dealer remove the perimeter alarm and now all back to normal procedures as per the manual.
