  1. Re: 2011 Edge Limited AWD, Rapid Spec 302A,  92K miles since new.

Q:  What is a  reasonable cost to repair an inoperative panoramic roof?
It will not open or retract,  apparently the motors(?) need replacement.

The dealer where I purchased the automobile, new - special order,

quoted me $15,000.00 to repair and was charged $1,500.00 just to

manually close the roof and deactivate the switches.

No doubt in my mind that I was ripped off but had no other alternative

    but to pay the $1,500.00.

Would appreciate a response as I would like to repair the panoramic

roof before giving the automobile to my granddaughter.

    Thanks in advance,

    JV Garcia

  2. Was getting ready to remove this posting. Followed my own advised and RTFM...there is a whole chapter on the TPMS that

tells me all I need to know. Once the tire pressure is brought up to 35 PSI it will take some driving time at 20 MPH for the TPMS

to reset unless there are others issues with the sensors.

Have an excellent dealer doing the service, will take it up with them again on my next visit if the warning icon does not goes off.

  3. Shaay: Sync Update issue is corrected, Dealer found an issue with the APIM and the work order shows that they "updated APIM via USB drive - retest OK".

Had experienced issues whenever the MFT or Sync was doing "scheduled updates" in that the system will bombed-out and not reload until after the vehicle

was turned off for a few hours. Had a bad experience in a trip to the East Coast when I needed the Navigation maps software the most. Morning after

arriving at the destination the MFT/Sync was performing as if nothing had ever happened. What I have read indicates this "APIM" module has a history of

problems so will take that into consideration the next time an update is available.

Thanks for you insterest and hope those reading these postings can benefit from them - have the dealer check the Advance Protocol Interface Module (APIM)

if they are having problems performing the flash drive updates or with the automatic "schedule maintance updates".

Closing this as Lesson Learned: 0001

  4. Negative...ran over 3 hours and spend another 2 -3 hours trying to complete it. Called 1-800-392-FORD twice and was told there are some issues with this update version. Recommended to take it to the dealer which I am doing tomorrow. One of your Techs told me that it was safe to shut down the engine and remove the flash drive with the update and Sync would revert to the previous version. No need to tell you that it did not and now I have nothing even radio.

Is there anything I can do between now and tomorrow appointment?

  5. Trying to do the latest update via USB flash drive, EAST-14D544-AD.Zip file. The process started about 2 hours ago and still not finished. How long does it takes and if I abort the update can it be restarted later on? Nowhere do I find in these Ford links about Sync what to do if the update fails.

  7. Thanks for your input. Have been wrestling with the gaskets trying to snap them back on but they keep coming out. What really pulls my cork is that having a "PremiumCare" warranty that is supposed to cover bumper-to-bumper for 84 months does not cover just about anything the best I can tell. Guess that's what I have to expect when the electronics go out. I am getting them replaced but I am also going to follow through with Ford for 2 reasons: 1. Defective design and 2. False advised on the extended bumper-to-bumper warranty the dealers pushes that I purchased based on the dealer's recommendations because all the computers system in this CUV.

  8. Have a factory ordered 2011 Edge Limited AWD, fully loaded except of the rear seat DVDs and roof rack since it has a sliding sunroof.

The sunroof inner gaskets on both side are off-track. Dealer wants to replace them at a cost of $141.00 each plus labor and taxes.

Exhorbitant cost for replacing two gaskets that are off-track. Dealer advisor also stated that "these gaskets have been a problem with this model" hence understood as a bad design issue.

Have tried to figured how the gaskets are installed but it is an "accordion gasket" and when seated as soon as the sunroof is open the gaskets goes off track.

Have the dealers extended service warranty, PremiumCare- 84 months, and was told this is not covered.

Appreciate a company Edge moderator comments.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jesse

  9. When is the A7 sc card navigation update due for release? Currently a few versions back, A4, and don't want to update to A6 if A7 will soon be released. Also can I purchased the update version at my dealer?

Appreciate a prompt response as I have traveling to do soon.

  10. Thanks y'all. As soon as I hit "send", I figured it out but to late to retract my posting.

The volume control knob in the the Sony's center console can be used to adjust the

sound level. What was throwing me off was that I read about a download with what

seemed a complicated install instructions as to how to return the unit to factory

default. Thanks again for the prompt responses.
