Hi everyone - I've had a number of issues over the past 6 months with my 2011 Ford Edge Limited, specifically with the 'electronics' and 'stereo.' Let me start off by saying that I love my car, but these 'little things' are driving me nuts. To give you a background, some of my issues have been fixed via dealer sync updates over the last few months (I've taken my car in 4 times already), but some of the problems remain and seem to have no fix in sight. The service center thinks my problems are sync related, but I wonder if it's something else (like the stereo). I also have not read of other users posting these issues, which leads me to believe the problem may not be sync at all. Here are my problems:
1. I have 3 different HD radio stations (in Austin, TX) that consistently never show the artist/song title, but these stations all used to work at some point. The service center is telling me they think the problem is with the stations, but they used to work. I asked them if they compared to another car with HD radio for checking and every time I've brought it in they say they didn't have one to compare to.
2. Often my car volume will be 'blaring' when it starts up despite the fact that I left it turned down low. This problem is intermittent and the dealer never is able to reproduce (how convenient).
3. I've had the radio station favorites/hot buttons go blank. Meaning the letters that are supposed to show inside the boxes were blank. The stations were still functional, but the station names didn't display. The issue also affected my sirius stations too. This problem lasted for about a month (straight) and then one day when I started up my car, it worked ever since.
4. Last week, I couldn't get my radio to 'power on' - I would push the power button on the console, but nothing would happen (ie. no volume). The last station I was listening too was displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, but I couldn't change the station. This lasted for 3 days, and then all of a sudden worked one day when I started up the car.
Now I am a reasonable person and I can certainly understand these problems may be caused by the sync system, but no one else I know has these problems and they are all specific to the 'radio' portion of my system. When I ask the dealer if they know about these issues and are actively working on them, I get the usual 'blank stare' followed up by the friendly 'I'm sure they will have it fixed in the next update.' I am tiered of waiting for a fix that may never come. Next time I bring my car in, I'm going to demand that they replace the stereo and/or the entire unit.
