  1. there's two black shiny paces on both doors in between the windows...... .. and for the life of me i cannot remember what they are called... but the one on the drivers door has a ding in it..... i haven't tried dry ice, because the piece feels plastic....

     

    can this be replaced?

  3. Chris, I see you've got few products from different places. I would suggest the following. If you buy from Autogeek, they have a 15% off and free shipping deal if you buy before Friday. Actually DI has a similar deal with $4.99 shipping but no minimum. I think you'll go over the $95 minimum if you follow my advice. Their customer service is great too and they also sell CQuartz. (use the code MEMORIALDAY)

     

    To start, make sure your bucket has a grit guard. You should use 2 buckets (one wash and one to rinse out wash media after each panel):

    After that, I would suggest Duragloss 901 soap..it's fantastic stuff. Better deal by the gallon:

    Now, for claybar lube, I would suggest you buy the ONR rinseless wash and mix up a spray bottle of it at claylube strength. This gives double duty out of an amazing product that you can use when the car is just dusty or a little dirty and you don't need the whole production of hose/soap/rinse/dry, etc. I have yet to convert anyone to anything but an ONR fanatic when they try it:

    Now, for polish, are you looking to use a Random Orbital polisher or do it by hand? If by hand, I suggest Duragloss 501 which is labelled as a Marine polish, but it has great cleaning abilities. Also, if you top this with Collinite 845 wax, you have a killer protection that is only beaten by either CQuartz or Opti Coat. The 501 is a sealant as well as a cleaner. It's a fantastic product. Here's a Corvette I detailed using DG 501 and 845 as the last 2 steps:

    By the way, if you want a great metal polish for chrome, stainless or whatever that has great protection as well, Colli's metal wax rocks:

    Now, if you want to use CQuartz or Opti Coat, you cannot use the 501 or Collinite 845. You would need to polish via random orbital with a polish. I suggest Meguiars 205 if you just need to amp up the shine, or 105 if you need defect removal. If you want to go this way, let me know and I can steer you in the right direction for polishers, etc. I am always on the Live2Detail site as I am a moderator there. It is a great site for detailers that is not sponsored by any manufacturers. A few guys from here have signed up. Either way with the CQ or the 501/Colli combo, your car will have great protection!   5. Anything's possible, but it won't be easy. There's the sensor and bracket that mount out front (probably $1000+ from the dealer) then you've got to wire it, get the steering wheel controls, get the HUD (probably requires a whole new instrument panel), then reprogram the cluster and the PCM. Not sure but you may even need to change the fascia since the part that's in front of the sensor is critical to proper operation.

  6. I have a 2008 ford edge with 20" chrome clad wheels . The 36 ,000 3 year warranty will expire shortly . I have heard that ford will replace the wheels if around the center hub and spoke area the brass starts showing. I would like to know if this is true and how to approach the dealer on this as a warranty issue?? The warranty runs out in a couple weeks

     

     

    i'd call and verify that your warranty will cover that then get it in .. before it runs out!...

  7. I noticed yesterday that I have fine scratches on the chrome trim beneath the drivers window on my 2011 edge . They don't appear to be deep scratches. Its still smooth to the touch. I tried buffing out with wax but that didn't work. Can anyone recommend the best way to remove these? Thanks.

     

     

    man.. i dont... i'm dealing with a ding on the black part .. drivers door.. eye level... grrr. its a little nipple.. i tried ice. but only got a little out`~.. fun stuff... .thats 2nd day dent too!

  8. HID's installed and the parking lights I had turned off so they only go on for the blinker now(they are LED now) I like the look with just the hint of amber from the corners. Also all LED's inside.

     

     

    you know i need some part numbers man~... comeon!... haha...

     

    ordering my hid's monday~.. where did you get them from and what did you use..9006?

  9. Just because a company says it will fit or it's for your edge double and even triple check! My intake? No good! My exhaust? No good! Engine lights on,blinking etc... Had to remove everything and go back to stock. It appears the company's I've delt with just assumed that a 2010 is the same as a 2011 and I can tell you for a fact through trial and error there not.

     

    Piping is different size the a 2010 for just about everything. That's all,I've learned my lesson and will be waiting for some mods to come out that have been tested on a 2011 before going through this again.

  11. It's been said that it is just a reboot disguised as an "update".

     

    Call the dealer and get updated to v2.8 and you should see less issues. I'm going to schedule my service this weekend although v2.7 has only showed a half dozen issues in 4 weeks.

     

     

    cool.. yeah that on the list .... .. got the k&n drop in.... .. doing the ddm hid's next week.. i need to order.. but thats really about it... i think.... tint~... its wife's ride. i'm pretty limited........no pun~.. :happy feet:

     

    but my f1504x4 is decked....programmer...exhaust, intake, rancho shocks.. camo interior..its nuts!

  12. Is this with a 2011 Edge? What version of Sync are you on?

    I get this from time to time ever since I updated to version 2.7. Ford is rebooting the Touch system to clean up the errors that have accumulated over a period of time.

    Before version 2.7, I used to have to get on my hands & knees and pull fuse 29 to force the reboot.

     

    I wonder if v2.8 has fixed any of this.

     

     

    its 2011.... but were running the 2.4v...grrrr..its mainly when she turns the car off... it will say system updating then thats it...... just wondering whats updating!.. yeah i've been reading about the fuse.. but so far so good. it seems to be running ok

  13. When was your Edge built/delivered? I still have 2.3 and "AG" and the dealer does not even show any update for mine. I'm starting to believe that my VIN has fallen through the cracks.

     

     

     

    2.4 gen here.. called for the update.. doesnt show i need one~...w hat up with that.... i might just roll in and make em do it~.g.rrr
