  1. Ontheedge. Congrats on getting a Tundra that has way more serious problems than a 7 sec pull to the right. Hope you are happy with 14MPG also.

There are only a few people on this forum bitching about pulling and over 160k Edge/MKX on the road. I think that is an acceptable percentage. STFU please.

Good for you not having any issues! I still have the pulling problem...would love the tsb# for parts being replaced. They've performed the 7-7-6 tsb# (no parts replaced) still pulls...drove a AWD/17" Tires for rental (mine fwd/18"Clad) and that edge did not pull one bit..got mine back drove on same roads and all it does is pull. I think more people are out there they just are listening to the dealers when they tell them it's the road crownage! BS! If it was the road crownage than the rental I had should have drove the same! I only get 16mpg, what's up with that?

  2. Well, looks like you've had nothing but trouble in every post your made now, but anyways, I want to congratulate you on getting married between Oct 12, and Oct 15, from what you've written.

How's that lemon lawsuit coming along? You know, every lawyer just loves filling suit unless it's pro bono. You end up paying. And since you stated that you've dealt with corporate but didn't like the lady assigned to you, you've now left it in the dealership's hands.

when you do make a post and try to gain sympathy on here, it's best to tell the whole story. Yours would have to be a FWD and since the trouble was found back in March and a TSB issued, there ARE steps a dealership has to go thru. One is to realign the toe, and as the final fix, is to install a kit that has special plates. This is to settle the customer's nerve's. But unless you allow them to correct your problem the you have no recourse as I'm sure your lawyer has already mentioned that to you.

Akirby was correct. You were not correct

Not sure what post you're reading....I did not get married between October 12th - 15th..thanks for the congrats anyway! And I am telling the whole story about the Edge I purchased September 18, 2007! And if the dealer actually perfromed the tsb maybe my edge wouldn't pull to the right. After the tsb, I had to take it to another dealer (they realigned toe from what my paperwork states) still pulled after that, so I take it back to the dealer who performed the tsb and the forman doesn't think it's pulling so they wouldn't even put it back on the alignment machine to check. So that's what I'm dealing with...the dealer won't even address my other issues about the rattle w/ bamr....they didn't hear any rattle so that was that.

They tried to fix it three times...that's lemon law in NJ! I don't expect any sympathy from anyone, I thought this forum was a place peopel could voice there concerns? It's just frustrating! Maybe you should get your facts straight too.....Maybe the problem first came about in March (not w/ mine since I didn't purchase it until September) I would think it should be fixed the first time in not three times later and still not resolved!

  3. It's by design - they wait until the 07s are mostly gone and the 08s are well stocked before they start advertising the new ones. Around here some dealers don't have any 08 models yet.

Not saying I agree with it, but at least they have a valid reason.

    [/quote

Yeah, the 07's have issues...wait...some of the 07's have issues! The one I purchased has many, many, many issues....that's why you won't see the 08's for awhile! That's why the 07's were so late in coming out! Just my opinion!

  4. Hello I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to ask if anyone is having any issues with their edge. I purchased my 07 edge 12Sept07 and it has been in the shop five times already :banghead: . First it was in for the front rotors (they were warped) so it went back to the dealership 4 days after buying it. the same day I got it back I went to a football game and my sun roof would open (when I would try to open it, it would only open 2 or 3 inches) after I noticed that the sun roof would open all the way it started to make a rattling noise. A week later my wife saw that the map light fell off and it would stay on after we tried to put it back on. That same day I noticed that one of the seal on the rear drivers’ side door was coming out of the door itself. When my wife went to take it to get fixed it had rained the night before, she saw that the dash was wet and she had water drops on her leg. So needless to say the windshield was leaking. They fixed just about every thing that time, but the guy that fixed the windshield cut the roof liner. So that added to the things that have gone wrong with my "NEW" Edge. when they had it in for the sun roof, map light, window seal and windshield they didn't fix the sun roof because they didn't want to pull the head liner off and fix the sun roof and then have to turn around a week later and take the head liner off again. I thought that made sense so I went with it. When the head liner was delivered to the dealership my wife took it back so they could fix that and the sun roof. So they "fixed" everything...so they thought. They thought the rattling was do to a lose screw in the sun roof, I’m assuming they tried to tighten all the screws in the sun roof, but they wound up taking it for a ride (not sure why since they "fixed" the problem) and again the sun roof was rattling. Now they ordered a new tack for the sun roof itself. If anyone else is having problems with their Edge like I am I would love to know so we can make Ford aware of our situations. :sos:

I too have issues with my edge, bought it Sept. 18th! Go on the tsb alignment thread and you can read all about it. I also am having roof rattlels....my edge has been in the dealer 5 times..it's so frustrating!

Keep on them about everything because they don't give a hoot about the consumer. I'm learning that first hand. Good Luck!

  5. FWD SEL. It happens at any speed. Dealer is getting it on Tuesday and I told them to keep it until it goes away. The only good thing is they heard it. Now lets see if they can find it. I think it is transmission related.

My Edge just starting making a whine noise too. Mine only does it when the ac is on, taking it in Monday for that and some other annoying issues...the drama never seems to end with my edge.

  6. Some people on this forum are assholes, and I ignore them.

The roll back, according to a Ford engineer at blueovalforums.com, is due to the torque converter stall speed, programmed for fuel economy. It is my understanding that the engineers who worked on the transmission voiced their concerns to the higher ups, but fuel economy won out over rolling. Just use that big, rectangular pedal to keep the vehicle from rolling...use your left foot on it, and your right foot on the accelerator, and don't give the "This shouldn't be in a $30,000.00 car" bullshit line....a $30,000.00 car today is just the average car...not super luxury, or super high tech, or the ultimate road machine. It's basic transportation. If you have done your homework, and took the car for an extensive test drive or drives, you would have noticed all the little annoyances.

Oh, Ok use both feet! It shouldn't happen with an automatic....my taurus nor my husbands F150 and all the other cars I've owned never did that. Of course the Ford engineer says so so it must just be the way the car is made. My Bad!

  7. Hi All,

I don't own an Edge yet but it is a vehicle I'm considering to replace our aging 1998 Toyota Sienna. I really like the looks of the Edge and I read that it is based on the Fusion platform which has had an excellent reliability rating so far. This gives me hope that the Edge will be similar in reliability performance.

Does anyone know if it is built in the same plant as the Fusion? Having been a Toyota fan for a lot of years, and a bit spoiled by their reliability, I worry most about reliability and expensive repairs for the Edge. Long-term durability is important too, but of course the Edge is too new to know much about that yet.

I like the idea if buying a domestic badged car but I don't want to end up with a lot of quality/reliability issues. My last foray into domestic cars was a disaster (Plymouth Grand Voyager), but that's a whole other story.

My only suggestion is you test drive the heck out of the one you want. I love the edge but am having some pulling (right) problems. I bought it September 18th...it's been back 3 times for this problem and still not fixed. Just drive, drive, drive the one you're gonna by!

  8. Hello all, I was just reading the updated post and noticed some were also having the BAMR rattle.

Ok, now get this, when they so call fix the rattle it is by adding Velcro and double sided sticky tape, believe me it is on my work order. And it still rattled. What kind of patch work are they trying to get by with? Also when they pull the headliner out check closely around the moonroof openings for the sag it causes when it is removed and re-installed, Look under the back small moonroof area were the dome light is and you will see the wiring harness is dangling with glue all over it were it used to be mounted to the head liner but isn't anymore.

Again, I have Ford engineer tech support papers that I can e-mail anyone that states that they are having alignment issues with the 18" wheels & tires & suggesting me to buy and try a known good set of 17" wheels and tires to see if it would correct my drift problem. My lawyer loved this one. LoL :hysterical: ( It's a design issue )

Listen there was no bigger Ford fan than I until all this took place, so I am no Ford basher (Well maybe now).

Everyone having these same type problems just open your eyes and lets make some noise, Ford and the dealerships service Dept's are both treating us like we should just shut up and go away.

Don't have to worry about mine any longer because I traded it in :hyper: :happy feet:

But I would still like to help anyone who would like any of the information I have and documents I possess.

Here is just part of the document About the tires. And notice how things seem to change from one hour to the next.

    Thanks ontheedge!

I wouldn't pay any mind to 07MKX or ClubwagaonXLT...they obviously have no issues with their Edge! I do and still am and I noticed my roof is making a rattling noise around the control area...I mentioned this last time it was at the dealer but they never checked it out. Also, it's making this clunking noise when you stop and you can actually hear the gas in the take swishing (spelling) around. Plus it's been rolling back when stopped at a light (incline) when you take your foot off the brake to accelerate it's starts rolling. I'm no mechanic but I would think a automatic wouldn't do that.

Yes, Lawyers may be grubbing hungry folk but Ford leaves us poor souls with issues no other choice!

  9. When the rear windows are down, a pressure wave is created...I am told this is due to a design flaw...that is also why the little screen comes up when the Vista roof is opened...reduce the pressure wave.

I never had the little screen come up when my BAMR is open. Design Flaw???? So, will they be fixing this design flaw?

  10. :redcard:

    Hey Fitz...

When you do these "test" drives, are the windows down and BAMR open? If so, could this "pressure wave?" be what is causing the drift and pull?

    Just a thought.

No, it's not the bamr....it pulls with or without the window or bmar open. My Cousin said she can't drive with just her back windows down either (she has a durango). That really doesn't concern me as much as the pulling problem. The BAMR is awesome....I've had no problems with that...hope I didn't just jinx myself. I've taken it to two different dealers.....I'm done dealing with the ford dealers....I'm going to try our local mechanic (he's reliable + no BS with him) hopefully he can figure out what the HEdoublehockey sticks is going on. And if he does...I'll be taking it back to the dealer!

  11. That just sucks. Do you have someone from the dealership get in with you (and then they drive it) to show them exactly what it does? I had to do that with the BAMR rattle. Kept telling them it was still rattling until I finally insisted that someone ride with me and listen. After that, problem was fixed.

If so, what do they say when it keeps pulling?

It not, maybe you need to try that?

    Good Morning GoodHands!

Yes, the third time I went back to the Forman/Person who performed the fix (tsb#07-7-6) the second time asked to drive w/me but he wanted to drive. So we drive and he's slightly pullling the steering wheel to the left and was making comments like I don't normally drive with my hands off the wheel (I took offense to that comment I don't drive around with my hands off the wheel either but when you have to hold the wheel to the left. anyway, so then he lets go and it starts to drift and he says it's because of the road crowning. I was fuming at this point and told him I would be back when my tires wear wrong. then he says it must be the roads I drive on. I couldn't believe my ears...I guess he thought I was a dumb chick. Then we pull back at the dealer and he says well you can come back in if you want..well needless to say I didn't and left pissed off. So a few days later I had it back at the dealer I purchased from and the paperwork said realigned toe to specs. And now you know the rest.....STILL PULLING!!!!!!

I would love to know about Hamman and how he made out the third time but doesn't seem like he's been on! It's just fustrating cause I really really love the car...especially the BAMR!!! The other thing is it's not just me as you can see from several people on this forum how can it be that only some have this problem and others don't...My car was built in August 07....My Husband said somebody wasn't paying attention on that day!! Very Funny..NOT!

Sorry to rant on about it....thanks for listening and have a great day!

  12. Hello All, (all that care to listen)

Got the Edge back Friday and just as I suspected it's still pulling to the right. Drove all weekend and it's still pulling. I am so frustrated...had my cousins husband take it for a spin last night and he couldn't believe how bad it was and he said he started rolling back when he took his foot off the brake to hit the gas from a stop. He was on a incline....I noticed that myself too, it only happens when your on an incline so it seems. Anybody else having that experience? I am just at the end of my rope....my husband is looking into the lemon Law issue...It makes me sad we have to go this root but we've gotten no respect from Ford whatsoever, dealers, headquarters, none of them give a hoot about the consumer.

Can someone explain to me why some edges are doing this (pulling) and some aren't, I don't understand if they are all coming off the same platform?

I'm jealous of all you fellow edge owners that have no issues......!

  13. Okay, I'm not exactly sure where I need to post this reponse but I'll try here......I responded to this same "problem" a while back and I don't believe I received a response.

Fifth Ford I have the exact same door issue. It appears from your pictures that you have a redfire which is what mine is as well. I talked to my boyfriend about it (he is a Ford Senior Master Technician) and he didn't have an issue with it. He also isn't paying for it  .....but I generally believe what he says about my vehicles. I would love to hear what your technician says about yours. It definitely does not have a finished appearance. My issue now is that I have added the body side molding so if the doors needed to be replaced, I'm out the money for the molding.

    [/quote

I know this isn't the right forum for this but since sues's boyfriend is a Ford Senior Master Technician...I'd like to know what he knows about the pulling problems going on with some edge's??? also, my ford didn't come with these pads either only for the cup holders in the console!

  14. I'm with you on this. Only 5K miles since June but I drive it every day (well, except for a few when the weather was too nice to keep the jeep in the garage).

    But I digress.

I have NEVER had even the slightest problem with this.

I hate it for both of you that you have though - the Edge is such a nice vehicle.

(I don't quite understand why someone in a class-action lawsuit has been instructed not to talk about it)

This is one of the reasons why I bought the Edge...People like yourselves...Loving it! I spoke with several people and they all loved it. I finally drove one and I was sold. Then I buy one..Redfire Red (love that color) and it's got issues....Hey have you driven with just the back windows down, even just half way...if you haven't...I ask you to try it and tell me what you think!

I wish you continued luck with your edge!

  15. I'm with you on this. Only 5K miles since June but I drive it every day (well, except for a few when the weather was too nice to keep the jeep in the garage).

  16. Thanks fitz,

I also really liked the Edge, but it just had so many problems not just the drifting issue.

When you get your car back just pay close attention to the steering and make sure it has good feedback from the steering wheel because the fix they do reduces caster in the alignment, made mine wonder all over the road.

Also listen for a pop/thump in the front end when you make a sharp turn from a stop & go

Drive it for a week or so before you come to any conclusion it has been fixed because they rotate the tires around to make it track straighter, and driving it lets the tires set/ware back to the cars stance/posture.

  17. When I found this site and was reading your posts I could hardly believe it....You sounded just like me and what I'm dealing with right now...and the Ford Rep they assigned me what a joke she is...I decided I'm not going to deal with her anymore....It's in the shop now and if it doesn't come out fixed I too will be looking into the lemon issue. It really dissappoints me because I really love the car!

Sorry to hear you had to get rid of it, hope things are going good with the new ride!

  18. Hello everyone I have not posted in awhile, but I just had to when I read fitz and hamman's posts,

yes you both probably have a Lemon, I can not say to much right now because I am in a Lemon Law case of my own against Ford and have been instructed not to comment a lot. (Go back and review my older post).

Everyone who has had a drift/pull and has had it fixed, did you notice after service did the TSB repairs the vehicle seemed to wonder all over the road like it has no steering feedback anymore and it still drifts some to the right? It seems to change dramatically with the Temperature of the tires and the different speeds you drive at. (Any how, incredibly unsafe)

This drift issue is a big problem for the Ford Edge and everyone needs to expose Ford on the way they are ignoring the issue. (Calling it normal drift/Pull, What is normal about that, and who made/set the standards? Pure bull)..

I have finally gotten rid of mine, I just could not let my wife drive it with it wondering all over the road and jeopardizing her safety and the safety of the kids any longer. (Traded it in on a 2007 Toyota Tundra 4x4 and that was the best move I have ever made and also it is the first time I have ever turned my back on Ford since I was 16, I am now 46). Goodbye Lemon, farewell Ford.

If anyone needs any information I have, I will be glad to help.. (Let's talk) :reading:
