  1. Came across this -
Ford Motor Company is preparing its dealers to be ready to roll out the latest MyFord Touch and My Lincoln Touch software update to be released August 2013.
Effective July 18, 2013 all Ford and Lincoln dealers were put on notice about several important enhancements regarding In-Vehicle technology features. Ford will soon begin sending letters to existing MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Tough. The notice will include information pertaining to the August 2013 release of the latest MyFord and MyLincoln Touch software version 3.6 (v3.6).
Included in the notice is a reminder of the recently launched consolidated SYNC owner websites found at support.ford.com and support.lincoln.com
There will also be information about the extension of the limited warranty on SYNC with MyFord/MyLincoln Touch system to a total of five years (Ford) and six years (Lincoln) from the warranty start date, regardless of mileage. Initially, the SYNC system was warranted for 3 years.
All Ford and Lincoln personnel will have to upgrade existing unsold inventory as soon as the new software is available. They will also assist owners with the installation of the new software. The MyFord Touch system was first introduced in some 2011 models. It is not known is the upgrade will be available via download from the new support site, or if it will be available on a USB jump drive.
Ford had announced late last year that the future software upgrades (planned to be include in the new 2014 models) would address system issues such as voice recognition, freezes, and other issues, such as clock errors.
Ford’s SYNC voice-controlled connectivity and MyFord Touch touch screen technologies are attracting more customers and selling at a much higher rate than competitors. Combined, SYNC and MyFord Touch are sold on 79 percent of new 2013 Ford vehicles, double the rate of Toyota and Honda vehicle infotainment systems and up from 68 percent in 2012.

  2. New maps, better interface for entering addresses, better voice recognition plus a few other things.

Is there a listing of, or definations of the "better interface for entering addresses"? I am looking for an explanation of what to do differently now compared to the previous update to enter addresses?

Apologies if this is answered in an obvious place, but have been unable to find in my searching.

    Thanks

  3. Less than a minute to download and about 15 minutes to install. Only thing was at the end of the final reboot, I got an error message that the USB drive could not be read. However, everything appears to be working fine. But I cannot confirm the install on syncmyride.com as there is no log file on my USB drive.

Glad to have the temperature back!!!

  4. My 6 month free trial ended a few months back. I had signed up for the year, but they really screwed up the account using my Discover card so I cancelled. (I didn't think to use the virtual number). I also received the 6 months for $24.99 offer and didn't want the auto renewal. So I went to Best Buy and got a $30 SiriusXM gift card and used that in place of a credit card. They did try to get a credit card number from me, but I told them my wife had the card with her shopping. They signed me up with just the gift card. With royalties it came to $29.61 for 6 months. The rep did state i would be assessed a $2.00 billing statement fee at renewal. Like others, I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to cancel before the 6 months are up. I also hate dealing with them, but if this works, I will deal with them twice a year to get the service for around $60 for the year.

  5. I am having an issue when using Siri through bluetooth with MFT. The issue is a very long lag in "hanging up" after a command is executed. For example, if I tell Siri to send a message to my wife, after Siri confirms it is sending the message, there is a very long(over one minute) delay before the "call hangs up" and my music resumes playing.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

  6. Out of curiosity...did you get the traffic too? Just wondering why I was quoted a higher price. I realize your price doesn't include their other fees but I thought that was only like 15 bucks.

No traffic. He first quoted $1.99 per month for SiriusXM Travel Link. That equaled $23.88 for 12 months. I then said I wanted a discount on that because I was paying for 12 months up front. He then lowered it to $19.90( he took 2 months off).

So it sounds like the only difference between your price and my price is one month of the Travel Link - or $1.99.

Just renewed, $108 for music and travel link for 1 year. You don't have to buy whole travel pacage just the item you want. Since I have navigation all I wanted was travel link with weater and the like.

Thanks for the help. I just renewed for $106 for music and travel link for 1 year. Same here, have navigation and just wanted the weather map and fuel prices on the MyFordTouch screen for convenience. The breakdown was $86 for 1 year of Sirius Select music and $19.90 for 1 year of SiriusXM Travel Link. Taxes and fees added around $14. I also had them remove the auto-renew at the normal price option. For backup, I used a credit card I plan to cancel in a few months.

I know I am paying a premium of around $20 for the year to avoid having to renew in 6 months and to lessen the amount the warnings in my car that my subscription is ending soon. Howard, Sinatra and Blue Comedy are worth it to me to continue the service.

  8. My 6 month trial is almost up and looking into whether to continue with Sirius Music and Sirius Travel Link Services.

I understand there are discounts available like 6 months of Sirius Music for $25. Has anyone continued with the Sirius Travel Link Service after their free trial? If yes, what are you paying?

I also understand that Sirius Travel Link Services are not available in Canada, but was checking if anyone else has pricing info on Sirius Travel Link Services.

Does anyone have both services and receiving a discounted price?

Just trying to see what is available for my future conversation with Sirius about renewing their services.

    Thanks.

  9. Question - is the $77 yearly price mentioned here for music only? If yes, what are some prices people have received for Sirius Travel Services(fuel pricing, weather, traffic, etc)? Are you able to combine the two services for a bigger discount?

My free trial ends in a week and just looking to see what my options may be if I decide to renew either service.

    Thanks.

  10. I'm a Sync Specialist with a ford dealer and teach customers about all the systems. The

screens you are looking at are for the Navigation System that is on some ford vehicles

such as F-150 trucks and Expedition. These systems are similer to my ford touch but not

the same. Akerby has been around and should be able to confirm this. Also you can check

    out the following web sight.

    http://syncsupport.ford.com/servlet/technology/guide-to-sync-voice-activated-navigation

Can you direct me to where information about the actual maps is located? I don't need the info on voice commands, but rather a legend for the map.

    thanks.

  11. Sorry if this is too basic....or maybe answer W/B obvious if I studied owners manual more closely.

We have new 2012 Edge Limited with NAV. It's wife's car mostly. She only uses voice for phone, uses touch for other controls. Thinks it's just faster and simpler to do it that way. She's not particularly impressed with all these features....it's just a vehicle to her. She does think hands free phone is a nice safety feature. I'm the one who is impressed with the system.

My question is about the NAV. I have a bean bag mounted (easy to stuff out of sight) portable Garmin Nuvi 750 I always used in the past. A model before free map updates, but does offer free POI updates. It has most featues of Edge unit....voice turn by turn, expanded intersections, etc. I did pay for one map update recently.....and before every trip, I update the Garmin POI's for new gas stations, restaurants, lodging, speed limit changes, the like. So my portable unit has excellent updated maps and most recent POI's. I understand we will soon have new map updates in our Edge, but how do you regularly update POI's? Especially lodging? If I go to lodging and make a motel a destination, would like to be sure it's recent data. That is feature I use a lot. Can you go to Sync my Ride with SD chip for updates, or are they automatically updated thru sync? Or Sirius? Is everything "live" except maps. We plan to keep the vehicle 4-5 years, and we plan to keep the subscriptions to Sirius and Synch up. Maybe even do a map update at some point thru dealership. I have XM in my vehicle, so maybe I can get a deal from Sirius/XM for both at same time. Appreciate your patience with this question.

I think it is a great question. There is little info on the Ford navigation and Sirius Travel Services.

My understanding, the Sirius Travel Services are a separate renewal from the Sirius music service.

I also have the navigation and am unsure what is the Ford navigation service and what is only provided by the Sirius Travel Service.

  12. Just got the iPhone 4s from Sprint.

I have my contacts through Gmail.

I synced to my iPhone and see my contact photos on my phone.

    I paired to MFT successfully.

Contact photos not showing up on MFT.

My understanding was the iPhone 4s supported contact photos.

Did I miss any steps to make this work?

Has anyone got this to work?

  13. You have it backwards. You don't program the keys to the car - the car learns the keys. Each key is unique and each key's code is added to the computer. You can wipe out the learned keys and learn new ones.

The tool you're describing simply clones an already learned key. It works but it's not the right solution. If you buy a 3rd key you can add it yourself and then if you lose one you can buy one anywhere, have it cut and add it to the car yourself.

Only a Ford dealer can program a new key to the car if you only have one key. Having a 3rd key gives you a backup and allows you to do all the programming yourself.

    Good idea.

I have my two factory keys and getting a third so if I lose one, I can still program sounds smart.

Where do I buy the third key? Then do I just have the key cut and then can program it ?

    Thanks.
