  1. I own a 07 Edge and just recieved a letter from ford today stating that in some edges cooling system, corrosion may lead to contamination of the heater core and inaffective heating performance. Its not a total recall, but the letter states if you have heating problems then bring it in to service and they wil determine if you need a system flush or a core replacement. Has anyone else recieved this letter from Ford, I have no problems but wanted to see if others have had problems or recieved the letter like I have, thanks for any feedback. Rich

  2. I am getting a few paint chips in the front of my hood just above the grill from road debris. Was wondering if anyone has added some protectant to avoid these nasty chips in this prone area of the edge. I am driving a 07 creme brulee, also any touch up advice to cover my few blemishes in the paint. Thanks for any advice.

  3. I was getting some noise from brake area on my 07 edge, wasnt constant but usually when i was driving for 10 minutes or longer. Just got back from service shop , not ford, and was told my brake pads were only about half worn but by rotors were bad and was told that ford uses thin cheap rotors to save cost. He is gonna replace four rotors with new and good quality rotors and all new brake pads with lifetime warranty for $584. Has anyone else had to replace their rotors and am i getting hosed or is this possible. I need to mention my mileage is 40,000.

  4. Hi rich11. :D Just to add to some of Jaak's good advice: All the major car care product manufacturers (Meguiar's, Mother's etc) make very good interior upholstery cleaners. I am partial to Meguiar's, but all are good. You can purchase these products at your local Auto Parts sotre or even the automotive section of your local KMart, Walmart, etc.

Even a good household upholstery cleaner (Woolite, etc) will do a fine job.

I find the best type to be the spray on foams, which you then work in with a wet sponge, let dry and then vacuum. Simple to use.

After cleaning them up well, you may want to think about Scocthguarding the seats. You can purchase the Scotchguard aerosol yourself and do it for a fraction of the cost of having it "professionally" applied.

Just one point I would add to JAAK's good advice, since he may not have noticed that you only have the cloth seats: Do do not apply a leather cleaner to cloth seats. It will stain them.

For excellent car care tips, including the interior, see the "How-to" and "FAQ" sections of these websites:

    LINK: Meguiar's

    LINK; Autopia

    LINK: Mother's

Of course, there are many other good websites, but at least you have place to start.

Also, you obviously do not need to purchase from those websites, just use their knowledge base information to help educate yourself concerning car care tips.

    Hope this information helps.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Thanks for all the great info. bbf and will be sure not to use the leather cleaner on my cloth.....lol

  5. I am a clean freak with my edge both in and out but I was wondering if anyone Knows the best way to keep the tan cloth material covering the seats clean? I would like to freshen them up and give them that new look back, although there are no huge stains or anything they are dirty in spots. Anyone want to share their ideas to keep them clean, car care products, e.t.c.......

  6. Has anyone else had that musty smell when turning on the a/c. I tried replacing the air filter and that didnt help, I also tried spraying fabreeze into the air intake by the windshield and that only covered up the odor for a short while. Anyone with any ideas to help. :happy feet:

  7. :hysterical: Has anyone installed the gentex auto dimming rear view mirror . Mine has a compass and temp sensor with map lights underneath. Was wondering with anyone having installed this whether they like the lights or not, my complaint is they are not white lights as they are some multi-colored light and they are not bright enough. Was wondering if these lights can be changed out for simple white lights which would be brighter. Also i am wondering how accurate the tem :happy feet: p sensor is on the mirror, it seem to be off to me. Any ideas on this from others with this mirror. Thanks for any input. :shades:
