  1. I wonder why you had so many problems with the update. Did mine thursday on my MKX, took 40 minutes. Yes, before I started, I read the instructions carefully, and I did delete (unpaired) our phones before starting. Wish you luck with dads MKX tomorrow.

Unknown. I also read all the instructions and unpaired my phone in advance of the upgrade. Curious to see how other Focus owners have fared but as yet have found no posts other than one who had difficulty pairing a phone post-upgrade.

  2. I've been tracking Edge/MKX MFT upgrade posts because the activity on this topic in the Focus Forum has been minimal. Finally received my upgrade package today and did the installation - there was drama but ultimately (two hours later...) success. If you would like to read my Focus Forum post about what transpired, here's the link. MFT Upgrade in Focus Forum. Perhaps this was for the best. At least now I feel better prepared to do the upgrade in my father's '11 MKX tomorrow. I wouldn't have wanted him to have had to try and deal with similar issues on his own.

  3. :happy feet: I was quite surprised today, when I received my update in the mail. It took exactly 40 minutes for the installation, and all is functioning smoooooooooooothly. Quick response times, phones (LG & IPHONE) paired quickly and work flawlessly, screens ARE more user friendly, I'm happier than a pig in shit !

Congratulations! This bodes well. Looking forward to applying the upgrade to the MKX and really looking forward to getting my upgrade for the Focus.

  4. Please be aware that this reboot does cause the screen to go black for what seems like forever. It scared me a few times but it finally showed me the "scheduled..." screen. Be patient. The 2.11 update took my car 70 minutes to complete. I think I got an slow module when they built mine 1 yr ago.

No reboot has fixed my problems with Sirius. I think Sirius is a joke & will be extinct 2 yrs. Or less

Yes, thanks. I'm pretty certain that this is the black screen of death - again. The key indicators are no screen warm up upon entry and no audio (unlike during a maintenance phase). I'll post results later this morning.

Edit: Pulled fuse 67 (Focus) and it restored the MFT/Nav system. I reapplied the USB reboot and restarted which resulted in SYNC maintenance. Unfortunately, Sirius Travel Link is back to where I started - no services except traffic. Weather and ski information are gone again along with everything else. Well, at least I know which fuse to pull without wiping my trip/fuel econ info if/when I get into another black screen of death situation.

  5. I applied the USB reboot update before leaving work today. This forced SYNC into "scheduled maintenance" as desired. Once maintenance completed, my phone connected then dropped - but no biggie, I just used the touchscreen to reconnect. As for Sirius Travel Link - this was a partial success. I got real time weather and ski information back online. However, fuel prices, movie and sports info were still no-go and would not update. This is where I should have left well enough alone. When I pulled into the garage at home I inserted the USB drive again, uploaded and shut down. When I restarted I had no audio and a black screen - same symptoms that recently required a battery disconnect to remedy. I'm going to try a fuse-pull tomorrow to attempt a reset instead of a battery disconnect because if possible, I'd rather not lose my trip odo/fuel econ/MTE info.

  6. Yesterday, my Touch system started acting up. FM was the only audio it would play. I was hoping it would do the automatic reboot but it didn't. After a couple of hours, I did the Master Reset from the menu. The only thing that did was to wipe out my data and settings. Finally, Touch rebooted and it began working again.

It sure would be nice to reboot at will without pulling the fuse.

I think I just got the answer from drpepper on the Sync forum. He said that the patch for the Sirius radio (see attached) included a reboot in it.

I'm going to give it a try later today.

Thank you for posting this solution and thanks also to akirby for pointing me in this direction from the Focus forums. Can you expand upon what the Sirius update/patch that you mentioned was for and how it is obtained/applied? I haven't been able to find any other similar issues posted and yours is the first reference I've seen to a Sirius update/patch. I'm having a problem with Sirius Travel Link on my '12 Focus with MFT/Nav. Not getting real time updates for fuel prices, weather etc. It was working correctly but stopped. I've verified my subscription status for all services and Sirius has advised me to check with Ford. I intend to try your USB reboot solution to see if it has any effect on my problem. Thanks again.
