  1. Assuming you drive 12K miles per year, that warranty only added 2 years to the non powertrain components. That's why it's cheaper. The extended warranty wouldn't have to deal with powertrain and the non powertrain components would only be covered for an extra 2 years (from 3/36 to 5/60).
