  1. Someone had posted that there are a few small holes around the gas filler neck. Blowing compressed air into these holes should blow out the vent tube. If it doesn't seem to be a lasting solution, you could get underneath the vehicle, disconnect the coupler and blow it out from there.

Info below is for a 2007 Edge, hopefully the 2011 is similar:

Thanks for all the info. I'll give it a try.

  2. I am having a problem filling up my 2011 Edge with gas. It will only fill the gas tube (about a gallon) and then shut off. I then have to wait about 30 seconds before I can fill another gallon. It takes forever to fill up the car. After some searching on the internet it looks like this could be a block in the fuel vent. Does anyone know where this vent line is so I could try to clear it, or does anyone have any other ideas as to what the problem is? Thanks for any help.

  3. I disagree completely. I think most people switch between presets way more often than they browse all stations. In fact I never browse all stations - I just go back and forth amongst my presets. Don't you get at least 12 presets (6 on fm1 and 6 on fm2)?

I understand some people may not like it which is why there should be an option. There is no way to browse stations from the touchscreen (except for the useless scan) or steering wheel (except for the hold seek which is such a pain to do that it is actually useless). The only way I have found to actually browse stations is from the touch controls of the volume knob, which is also a pain. When you travel the presets become useless so it is essential that there is an easy way to browse stations. My Chrysler worked like this and it was far superior.

  4. I'm still hoping for bug fixes.

    1. Fix the wind noise for phone calls.

2.Give me the option to use the steering wheel seek to browse all stations. If I want to choose presets I can easily do that from the touch screen. I have no need to seek presets with the steering controls to, leaving no easy way to browse all stations.

3.I can no longer use my phone to make calls, yet it connects and streams music. Are you kidding?

  5. Well I installed the update today and WOW!!! It took about 45 mins to install and you have to let the vehicle idle while doing so. No glitches, no hiccups, just plug in the flash drive and it does the rest. What a difference!! The screens are much cleaner and more organized and the touch screen works like my Iphone....snappy fast!! The new nav SD card looks much better also. Overall I am VERY happy......Good job FORD.

Could you make an iso of the flash drive and offer it up for download?

  6. But they should just opensource it so we can have a user supported system. I would love someone to figure out how to put android on it. Ice cream sandwich on my car? Awesome.

Android would be amazing, but ford can't charge $800 for navigation that other companies give away for free so they would never do it. Ford couldn't care less what their customers want.

Would your ipad survive for 10-15 years in temperature extremes from 120+ down to -50 while being subjected to washboard roads and other shocks?

You can't just take something designed for home use and put it in a car.

Only outdated hardware can survive extreme weather? Where did you come up with that? I don't know how cheap tablets hold up in extreme weather, but I wouldn't need it to survive 10-15 years. I would much rather have a cheap tablet that I could replace every few years. New hardware (even the cheap stuff) and new software is far better than outdated hardware and crap software. And replacing it every few years would still cost far less than Ford is charging for this garbage. In 10-15 years MFT is going to look like a rotary phone.

That reminds me of another argument I've seen here. The screen has to be an unresponsive resistive touchscreen so people can use it with gloves. And yet the permanent climate controls are touch that don't work with gloves. Maybe that should be the other way around. A good quality touchscreen that people in cold weather can't use a few months a year until their car warms up enough to take their gloves off (or heaven forbid they could take one glove off) and climate controls that you can use with gloves and actually feel when you press it. There is no way anyone at Ford thought about those controls at all because they were an obviously terrible idea.

  7. None of the other gadgets I have have to 'pause' and think about switching to the next screen.

Response time may seem better than the current version but it's still not up to par with modern gadgets.

I can live with it if the bugs are fixed.

FMT hardware was outdated before it came out. The smartphones that they give away for free have far superior hardware than My Touch. Even the sub $200 tablets have better hardware than my touch, not to mention much better software. Think about that. Ford is charging thousands of dollars for a system with much worse hardware and software than a sub $200 tablet. If this hardware was in my phone I would have upgraded 3 years ago, and yet they expect people buying it now to be content with it for decades to come.

  8. The aux input is right beside the USB port. On the screen, it's referred to as the "AV Input"

I don't have an aux input next to the usb. I have rca inputs. It's hard to believe that a 2011 car doesn't have an aux input (3.5 mm). I guess I'll buy an aux to rca cable and try out the rca input. This will allow me to control the music from my ipod?

Is this usb problem something the dealer could fix or is a software issue like most things?

  9. You missed the "give it a few minutes to index" part. I've gotten an ipad, two ipods, an iphone, an android phone, an android tablet, two flash drives, and a hard drive to all work fine.

I've gotten a Zune 120 and a flash drive to work (kind of). Album art does not work at all on any of them. The zune storage is so large that it takes forever to index. I don't know if it has ever finished because most of my drives are less than 20 minutes. But it doesn't really matter because it would take 20 minutes to find the artist I am looking for slowing going from page to page looking for it on the mft. My zune 30, ipod, and android phone aren't recognized at all. It says this usb device is not supported.

  10. Does this car have an auxillary input? Where is it. I just want to be able to control my ipod from the ipod. The myford pos system doesn't recognize almost everything i plug into the usb (including my ipod), and after actually getting one usb drive to work I can't imagine using it to search through 5 gb of music, let alone 120 gb. of music. How do people with large storage mp3 players actually find the music they are looking for? Doesn't that take forever? And does this thing have to index your collection every time you start it? It's not done indexing the collection before I'm done driving 99% of the time. So anyway, where is the auxillary in this sad car.

  11. Just got my new Edge last Sunday. It is awesome. Also thought of this exact same question - if there is the ability to simply do channel up/down from the steering wheel? I'll try the "hold for a longer duration" approach and see how that works for me. Definitely interested to hear if any other ways to do this are discovered...

Did this work for you? I've been looking for a way to browse channels also but haven't tried this out yet.
