  1. I just had to make the tough decision of trading in my Edge Sport for the Explorer. I absolutely loved my edge, especially the look of it. I was always being told by random people how beautiful my edge was. I had to get the explorer because our family may be expanding and we need that 3rd row. Definitely depends on what it is you want from the vehicle. Have had the explorer for about 2 weeks now and im actually loving it. The gap feature on cruise control has come in handy as well as the parallel park assist and cooled seats. If it was possible to have both I would have kept the edge. Got a pretty decent price on the edge trade in though because the sales manager wanted to drive it himself. One thing of note as well is that the explorer forums are pretty much non existant compared to this edge forum, especially for the newer model explorers

  2. Yea definitely not normal. So far I have not had any problems with my 2012 Sport, I havent driven it across the country either though. I would be pretty upset if I was having issues with my vehicle other than with mft. Maybe take it to another dealer or mechanic have a good look over, also check your states lemon law to see what they justify as a lemon, you may be able to get it replaced if you are continually having the same issue over and over. Best wishes to having it all sorted, because I am with you on thinking it is one of the most beautiful vehicles on the road today and I'm loving mine more and more everyday I see a different car parked next to it

  3. Glad I got mine when I did. I had gone to the dealer originally looking for a limited but I saw the Sport and immediately fell in love. I did some searching around at other dealerships and online and nothing was close to me that had another sport. I went back and told the dealer I wanted it, so he says ok well run some numbers and your credit blah blah. 2 Days later I call and I'm like hey whats up with the Sport so he says sorry I got busy and had a day off as well come on back in. So I go in and sit down with the finance guy and he tells me oh well we would need more money for a down payment blah blah, maybe this car is too expensive for you ( horrible credit thanks to my marriage) maybe we can get you in something else. I tell the guy wow thanks for insulting me, I know what I want, you're not selling me on anythng else. So he finally comes up with a 6 year plan and some insane 29% interest rate. I'm thinking if I was going to spend $65K on a vehicle I would get a CTSv. I finally had to say you know what I'm done letting you waste my gd time whats the total, I'll cut you a check. In the end I ended up paying off my Fusion and trading it in towards the Edge and bought it flat out which bumbed them out because there went their huge cut they thought they were gonna get. I'm not sure what is up with dealers these days but it sure seems like they dont give a damn about selling vehicles and making customers happy. Needless to mention I'll take it to a different dealer when I need something done, like I did when I had put in the illuminated door plates

  4. l Iike how almost every day this forum gets flooded with the same questions and information that has already been posted countless times already. Have people seriously gotten that lazy that even using the search feature and reading has become difficult?

  5. The average speed display is somewhat confusing.

Is there a starting point to calculate the average speed or does the calculation span the lifetime of the car? Is it possible to reset this display and start at a certain point? For example, if I enter a freeway and drive there for several hours or so and the display can be set to zero at the start, shouldn't it display the average highway speed along with the respective mpg figure and not take all the stops and slow speed before the highway entry into account?

    Thanks,

    Ed

Yes you can reset it whenever you want. when you get to the screen it should say to "hold ok to reset"

  6. Almost at the 1k mark and im getting about 15.5 so far. Almost all stop and go city driving though, i hate the traffic here. @ FR200FOCUS- It's funny the dealer would say there is no "break in" period for the new engines, when in the owners manual it clearly states about the breaking in phase and how they dont recommend driving at the same speed for the first 1k. Also it has an adaptive shift which will "learn" your driving style. From my understanding it basically says try to drive it differently for at least the first 1k so that the seals break in properly and it can adapt to all the differet types of acceleration and shifting styles
