Hello,
My family and I are thinking about taking a trip to see my mother in Duluth, Minnesota for Christmas. I live in South/Ga. so I of course I don't have snowtires on my Edge. I've driven in snow a little but I'm sure Minnesota is going to be alot worse than what I have drivin in.
Sooo.. How much do snowtires really help? Do you think that I would be ok as long as the roads have been cleared? Are the highways usually in good shape?
Thanks ahead for any info you may give.

Has anyone installed a remote starter on the edge? we have a 07 and the wife is tired of a cold car here in MIchigan. Heard alot of horror stories on this stuff.
Cheers

We just purchased a new 07 edge SEL AWD. We live in Northern Michigan and get about 160 inches of snow a year in a rather hilly area. We have 17 inch wheels we traded a Jeep Rubicon. Now I know this does not have the 4 wheel system the jeep had but I was wondering if we need to add some weight in the back for better traction?
Its my first full time AWD vehicle so I am not accustomed to its needs but, man what a great ride and all the extra room is wonderfull.
Thanks

Question about snow tires..

We live here in Northern Michigan and get 160 inches a year I had the same question and spent the weekend with the local Ford service manager. His advise "dont buy them till you need them I think you will be surprised". to say the least I am I think it pulls better than my F150 4X4. Lots of grip and little slip with the stock tires. Now remember you are not used to the snow and that will make a difference but I would not waste my money on snows.
