  1. I'm pretty much do exclusive city driving in a FWD MKX. If I go on the freeway it's for 3-5 miles at a time maybe a few times a week. I get about 17.5 mpg. On one tank I did about 30 miles on the freeway and it put me up to 19.8 mpg for the tank.

I do notice that I get better milage if I have the mpg tracker on. I had to shut it off because I found myself coasting all of the time and driving like a grandpa (actual quote from a friend in the car).

  2. OK, it's 50 degrees outside, my climate control is set on 85 and the A/C keeps coming on even though heat is pumping out. Does anyone know why this happens. It would make sense if the car was warm because it was sunny, but it's cold in the car, the heat comes on and the A/C is on. I keep having to switch off the A/C button because I think it's a waste to have the A/C on when the car is heating up. Is there something wrong with my system or does this happen to everyone?

  3. Hi my friends !

Yesterday i had pick up my new EDGE to my dealer, a beautifull EDGE blazing copper SEL TI, wowwwww

it's a fantastic car, i'm very very impressionned.

    After 3 months waiting ! it's a gift.

All is better what i wished.

I wish you the same feeling and please wait for

Nice to hear you are happy, we could tell you were getting frustrated but in the end when you really want something it's not that big a deal to wait a little longer than you expected. At least you're not like that one poster who couldn't wait a few extra weeks and settled for a RAV4.

  4. I tracked a VIN# on Ford's internal web hub last month. It was an Edge SE no BAMR located in the Cleveland area. It was ordered on 11/01/2006, and was delivered to the dealership on 12/10/2006. Just a little over one month on a base model Edge. This was also a dealer order, not a customer pre-order. That is how I got the VIN# online. So it is possible to get an ordered Edge in about six weeks. I'm not sure however on MKX's. Based on December sales figures 1 MKX is sold for every 2 1/2 Edges, so I wouldn't think the MKX's are pouring off the assembly line. But I don't work there either, so pretty much I have no idea

That's a much higher sales rate than was initially projected for the MKX. Good to hear. I wonder how many they will sell in 07. I swear I read they were only projecting around 20-30,000 MKX sales this year.

  5. Anyone know the process that is used to ship these things out west? I swear they must be on a truck going about 15 mph. There have been a number of Edges on the dealer inventory list out here since before Christmas and none are on the lots yet. I can't figure out why it would take a truck 3 plus weeks to make a trip that a car can make in 3-4 days.

  6. Called the dealer. He said "Oh, the MP3 input jack comes standard!"

"No, no" I said, "That's just a music input jack. I want to be able to *control* my iPod from the radio or steering wheel controls. Stop, pause, skip -- that sort of thing."

    (silence)

    "We don't have that."

I can't find any mention of Trip Tunes on either the Ford Canada site or the Ford USA site. I'm thinking the program/accessory/feature/whatever has been discontinued, alas.

The dealers are clueless because it hasn't been released yet. The trip tunes technology was announced last year as being available early 2007. It wasn't added to the Edge or the MKX but I believe it's supposed to be available as a dealer installed option sometime this month (which probably means next month).

  7. I've been tracking the MKXs and they showed up here in Vegas about a week ago. They were shown on inventory for a good week and a half before that though. They seem to show up on inventory when they are shipped and then shipping takes time depending on where you are.

If the Edge is near as nice as the MKX it will be worth the wait. I checked one out on Tuesday and it was nicer than I had hoped.

The dealers are in a bind since they really don't know where the trucks are until they arrive. Any day is a good guess.

  8. I thought it was 51% residual and 1% interest for a lease in the US... But, I can't remember... IF you ordered your car I would call the dealership and tell them that your kind of pissed that they didn't have you fill out a credit application before the 2nd and you want them to see what they can do. Maybe they can backdate it if you get there today. Good luck. $3000 more? what are you talking about? They were never running any deals as far as rebates.

I don't lease cars so I don't know anything about the residual or interest for a lease. Ford launched both models with a 1.9% for 36 mo., 2.9% for 48 mo., and 3.9% for 60 mo. The deal was you needed to take delivery on or before Jan. 2. Anyone who ordered an Edge or MKX is on the open market for financing right now as no new rates have been announced. I was guessing a $3k jump in payments over the life of a loan on an MKX with a standard rate car loan. There are a few tens of thousands of car buyers who ordered Edge/MKXs last year expecting these rates and are now in limbo. I'm surprised nothing has been announced or that Ford didn't extend these rates due to the delay in production.

  9. No rebates or cash incentives on the Edge whatsoever. There are financing options, but that's it. But low rates and a higher residual than is typically on a Ford equals great value.

Congrats on the new ride, thank you so much for your patience and purchase, enjoy the Edge sir!

Have you heard what the financing options will be? Since the old ones expired on the 2nd, there hasn't been anything listed for the Edge or MKX. I ordered an MKX planning on going through Ford Credit and now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't want to have to cancel my order but the car will cost about $3000 more because it didn't get here by the 2nd. That's pretty steep considering I don't really need a car right now and can wait until they offer a half decent financing rate again.

  10. Out of pity for the Wolverines, here ya go :-p

Ah, sonavabitch, there's not gate release date, your dealer might to give their rep a call to make sure that it gets reported sold (warranty started, etc) however it looks like it's on its way.

Thanks, I need something to cheer me up, I just got back from that crappy game. Why would you need a gate relaese date once it has shipped?

  11. Here in Las Vegas Nevada the dealers had a few Edges and MKXs on inventory for about two weeks now. I just got a message that the first MKX is in today so they are just making their way out west. It looks like everything shows up on inventory right about when they are shipped since there is a two week lag to get to the lots on the west coast. The Ford and Lincoln dealers showed a bunch more hit their inventory this past week so there should be quite a few out here in another week or so. I wonder how long they will take to sell.
