  1. Some people have received notification that they will have to go to the dealership. Most of us have been advised we will receive a flash drive for self installation and a SD card with the new maps. As far as I know no one has received that package in Canada yet.

just got my mail notification saying to go to the dealer here in vancouver, i might just go in and have them do it as well to look in to the wishing nose coming from my driver side door

  2. I put these in my wife's 2011 SEL and I didn't think there was as much of a difference as others have said. They somehow seem both harsh and muddy at the same time. Better than the stocks but not that good, IMO.

I did aim the tweeters but I didn't mess with the tweeter boost switch. ukjason, you're suggesting I dampen the tweeters with that switch?

I would try just dampen the tweeters in the back to let more bass come through and leave the fronts. As for your thought of the Infinity in my opinion you are getting more bang for you buck with these speakers. I would suggest playing around with the touch setting and the button on the speakers to find the sound you like, the next step would to put in a small sub if your wife likes more bass. For me I find the clarity is way better than the stock speakers at a cheap price.

  3. Finally got the Infinity Kappa speakers installed and what a f-ing difference. First of all the installation took 1 1/2 hours with no problem on all four speakers (should have done it myself and save $100, ho well). The sound is 20 times better than stock speakers (the stock speakers are so shitty, the build quality is a joke shame on ford shame on you) the highs are much clearer and now I have real mid. The bass is very good for 6x9 or 8x7 or 5x7 what ever they wanna call it. My only concern is the tweeters level is to high buy you can lower it down whit the 0/-3dbs button on the tweeters, for example in the back if you point the tweeters at the left and right passenger it sound good. But if only one passenger sat in middle they will get way to much high, almost to an annoying tone, so if you do get these speakers be aware of this. Just pint then downward or press the button.

This to me was a no brainer $140 for all for speakers and $100 installation(do it your self is my advice)

Music tip: if you up grade your speakers you should upgrade you music quality, use 320kbps or lossless you start hearing thing in songs you never heard before make the whole music experience 10x better.

    Thank for reading

  4. I've been beta testing the new Myford Touch system for about a week now and I can tell you all that the upgrade is a very good one...screens much simpler....stupid "Swing" design of the climate tab is gone. screen has better and faster response (for a resistive screen).

So far, i haven't had any system crashes or freezes.

Also, my iPOD integrates much better. Used to have issues where it would create multiple USB devices on the old system and then get confused as to which one to use.

probably my favorite part so far is the new bluetooth sync performance. the voice sync responds much faster and clearer, I can hear people on the phone much better, and they tell me they can hear me much better as well. (using a droid razr phone)

I still don't have the new navigation SD card yet, so i haven't been able to try it. the navigation is just faulting on mine right now because the update doesn't seem to work with my current navigation card.

in short, this is a very welcome update....probably what they should have released to begin with.

This sounds very promising seen as we just got a used 2011 edge. I have been holding of upgrading sync in my car(2.11) to the (2.8) just because of this. What version are they calling this upgrade 3.0 and any idea when it's coming out?

  5. I know that ford pulled a fast one on the 2011 egde SEL by saying it has six speakers but only in 4 location, but my question is they're a pair of wires for each speaker location ? For example on the driver side door is their 2 pair of wires or just one pair with a 6x7 with a tweeter?

I want to replace the stock speakers with new ones but have not found any indication to the number of wires in each location?

    2011 SEL is my ride.

  6. I did post a link to an Ebay auction for one coming out of China that looked promising but they couldn't supply pics of it mounted in an 11 so I passed. But I have seen them relist it. Looks pretty nice, has a retractable cover and on the seat side has a split that allows you to individually recline each side. The only thing I didn't like was you have to screw mounts into the plastic sides. If I knew it fit right I would get it though.

do you have the link for this ebay item

  7. What did you end up doing? I swapped out my four main speakers in my 2011 SEL for some MB Quartz speakers and have now bought the RE-Q5, a Bazooka sub, and a 5 channel amp.

I'd love to know how you wired everything so I can tell my installer.

    Thanks.

where did you buy your speaker from and how much for your door speakers?

  8. If you really want to have some bump and be stealthy JL Audio has a stealth box that replaces the stock sub woofer. It hides in the panel in the back so you don't lose any space. You do have to modify the panel a little but for the benefit of cargo space it may be worth it. I'll probably pick one up here in the near future...

do you have a picture or the model # for that sub woofer from JL audio
