    Hi strike2tamu,

Version 1.8 is the original software for MyFord Touch; there have been 10 updates and 1 upgrade since then. :) To receive the latest software (v3.6.2) you'll have to visit your dealership. As for your wallpaper, the diminsions may not be set to the correct size, make sure they are as follows:

    • Compatible file formats are as follows: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp

    • Each file must be 1.5 MB or less.

    • Recommended dimensions: 799 x 378

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Rebecca

    Hi Rebecca,

I am on 3.6.2 and it is still pretty laggy (I think more than the prior release, 3.6 or 3.5). Once I click a button, it really waits a second before making the move. How much RAM does this thing have, or is it a weak processor? Is there another update coming out and when?

PS for the future, are you guys planning to implement a better software system, such as Android or Google Maps, with tablet-like touch sensitivity rather than this painful resistive touchscreen currently?

  2. You mean a revamped 2014 model?

Currently I haven't seen any concepts or anything yet as well. By this time the 2013 Edge was available last year, but no word at all for 2014. I think they'll go with the same exact configuration unless it will be a late release.

  3. No problem!

Calibre, it must be a glitch - I don't use voice commands though (I suppose you use them) because they are too slow for me..I just do everything with the touch.

And the new 3.5.1 update in fact makes the system slower if anyone else hasn't noticed..still waiting on a solid performance improvement. The hardware seems capable - the software isn't there yet

  4. This is the post below yours are the only two that I've read so far about this.

Odd about the mileage. Most people seem to be reporting better.

You should see this thread in the normal Edge forum: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/10463-crappy-gas-milage-black-tailpipes/

Here, a lot of the people have black tailpipes/soot and get pretty bad gas mileage.

Ford is a joke when coming to their mileage, like what the hell are they thinking. I bought a $50K car which boasted fuel economy, yet I'm getting only a little bit better than my BMW 7 Series 4.4L V8.

  5. Bought my Edge Limited Ecoboost in Canada, in the beginning of June - 1.5 months, and 4100 kms later, I am still averaging 18-19.5 mpg (12-13l/100km).

Took a long 500km trip with mostly highway driving, and averaged around 25mpg there. I also get the black tailpipes.

I don't know, but it is nowhere near what I should be expecting. I am expecting 25mpg mixed driving, and perhaps 30 on the highway. This is conservative and lower than the stated mileage, so hopefully after some more breaking in and first service it starts proving itself.

  6. The two steps involved are:

    1. Hold the garage door remote next to the HomeLink transmitter and press the button on the remote and button on the HomeLink until the light on the HomeLink starts to flash rapidly.

    2. Press the Learn button on your garage door opener, then press the button you programmed on the HomeLink.

It sounds like you skipped step 1.

I thought I read them as two different methods in the manual?

The reason I didn't do the garage door remote method is because the battery actually died in it, so I decided to do the alternative method as stated in the manual. However, you are telling me both steps are needed, so I will replace the battery on it and try with that this time.

  7. Hi I tried programming the Garage door opener (Homelink) with my Garage door but was unsuccessful.

I pressed the Smart button on the Garage control panel, then within 30 seconds held the programmable button in the Edge for 2 seconds, twice, and even three times like the manual stated. No luck. Am I doing anything wrong? I tried with both ignition on, and off.

  8. Hi, I connected the BlackBerry 9900 to Sync for the first time via bluetooth and everything, but it has so many problems.

As soon as I connect it, there is an 'Incoming Call' that keeps coming, even after I press decline, it keeps coming back (which prevents me from doing anything).

Second, if I put on 'Do not Disturb' to get rid of the call, I cannot DIAL any number. As soon as I start dialing, all the numbers vanish.

Third, if I call someone directly from my phonebook, it won't dial and just disconnect.

Pretty huge issues, nothing works, I think there are some connection problems though!!

  9. Hey. I just picked up my 2013 Edge Limited Ecoboost in Platinum White, yesterday morning.

It looks amazing since it is new and clean. Never really owned a brand new car before. I'm coming from a problematic BMW and looking for some reliability. Hopefully I get it (knock on wood). So far, loving it, and loving the technology more. I actually narrowed down my results for a small SUV to either the Edge or the RX 350. I would get a 2010 RX 350 w/ a few kms for the same price. I still think the RX350 would be more reliable and problem-free, but the interior design is not so good (quality is nice though, better than the Edge), it is boring inside compared to the Edge.

The Edge is fun to drive and fun inside the interior unlike the RX. Thus I chose the Edge. I still think I paid too much for a Ford though!

I've posted here a few times, felt I needed a formal introduction.

Anyway, that was it, I'd also like to welcome all other new members. I'll put up pictures when I get the time to take some good shots! It looks really nice and clean.

  10. I just picked up my 2013 Limited yesterday and I got the optional 20" chrome wheels.

The plan is to keep them through the winter w/ the all-season tires on. However, I don't want to ruin the chrome on their through the salt in the winter. Is there any protector, wax, or whatever that I can put on?

I don't want to get those steel black rims for a good 3-4 months and change tires and all.

  12. Aww man that stinks! I always wanted to know that and I had my doubt, but I purchased the vehicle anyway. They *resembled* somewhat LED's from the last time I saw them (the top brake light)..

I really wanted LED tail lights, they look amazing.. So has anyone done them yet? You being a pro on lighting, you should give it a go! I hope it's as easy as just switching out the bulbs for LED bulbs.
